WTF! This is good news to me!! Seeing new labels come out as retailers ditch media is always a good thing. Thank you Heath for promoting this (as usual), and Guido for sharing time! FWIW, I'd never have heard about CELLULOID DREAMS if not for Cereal at Midnight.

I don’t buy as much boutique as I should, but this interview won me over. Even though I haven’t seen this giallo, I’m going to order from their site now. It looks like a title worth getting a label worth supporting (though I’m not a social media guy and will have to remember to keep checking the site).

very interesting interview. People like this who are passionate to the art form not just $. The underdog battling to bring us what we want. Excellent explanation , The Video games look comparison vs natural film grain structure is prefect. Why games with sharp images look so digital and unnatural, DNR vs natural filn grain . I like supporting people like this and will be picking up this 4k release for sure.

Great interview Heath! I don't really know if I will like the movie but I will buy it and support Guido's label. It reminds me of when I used to buy indie music cd's in terms of this being like an indie boutique label. I will spread the word on the interview and the release!

There's always room for more labels, especially for those with passionate people behind them who aren't just interested in the business side. I can pretty much tell who's in it for the money - those labels I only buy essential titles from after reviews come in but stuff from companies like CD I support from day one wholeheartedly. Waiting 6 months for something I know is coming out can be painful but the end results are guaranteed to be worth the wait. At least I know for sure we won't be waiting 5 years for announcements to materialize like we do with Synapse or GH 🙂

Great interview and it definitely makes you want to support this business. Bloody Iris was a day one preorder for me, and I can't wait to see what else they put out. I imagine they learned their lesson on not using bubble mailers for shipments, but they knocked everything else out of the park.

Guido seems like an interesting guy to talk to. I wish I will ask him if he could announce some poliziotteschi on 4K since he bought out The Black Belly of the Tarantula on 4K for the first time. Like Execution Squad, one of my personal faves of the ‘talking-man’ poliziotteschi despite its awkward title.

Honestly a lot of people that can’t see the difference with 4K because they ruin the image with terrible settings like sharpness and interpolation/ motion smoothing. They need to be completely off. Secondly they compare to blu ray but forget the blu ray is being upscaled and even though upscaling may only look halfway to true 4K, if they have those bad settings they won’t see the difference. Worst of all bad settings are more noticeable on film so they will think everything with grain, fog or fine details is a “bad transfer” when using garbage settings.

That won't change the fact that the colors pretty much always suck on 4K.

@@mestersen you have to tune your color properly. Focus on skin tones to get the color calibrated correctly. (That’s assuming the movie isn’t using desaturated color or amber or blue filters, so choose something with natural looking colors to tune for reference.)

I bought the 4k and while I liked the transfer, movie and content but was disappointed that it didn't come with a slip cover and no postcards. I bought it at Bull Moose not from the website. Not sure if those are a website exclusives but don't believe it was stated. Kind of bummed out. Went to the website and realized that they are website exclusives! Ugh.

Interesting, certainly the 4K but sadly the blu-ray is region A (not region free). Does make you wonder when you are talking about 18TB disks and manipulating all this data for a 4K. If I ever did a label, think I would be sticking to blu-rays

I never preorder anything unseen as a rule which is a damn good rule to have, i.e. that means reviews first and what I've seen of this release is not anything I want to buy even though I absolutely love these gialli the grading here to my eyes is off. I had my high hopes up and ready to support a new company but it won't be this release, alas.

@@jeffherrington If I may voice on this thought, as I view it. They overdid it and pumped it up where they needn't do so, particularly in night scenes that are now all blue. Mind you, earlier releases were by no means ideal either (yellow being the major issue there) but this was overkill and unnecessary there's no need to recreate this film all over again and mold it into something it never was originally or people aren't familiar with. What they should've done though, was rather tone it down yet in the heat of things guess it couldn't be helped it's fun to play around with, I suppose. As I understand it, they did this work themselves which means it's just their version at display not any ultimate one so others can correct it later if they want to, however likely that'll be. Point is, you can very easily get lost in the process and lose sight of authenticity when playing God. lol
