The Chad Innings Eater. It was once a silly virgin vs chad meme I made on Twitter, but now it has come to life as an episode of Baseball Bits, a Foolish Baseball production. Innings Eater used to be be an insult, now it's a celebration of pitchers like Bobo Newsom, Joe Niekro, Livan Hernandez, Mike Leake, Rick Porcello, Cole Irvin and of course, Jordan Lyles.
This video is both about Jordan Lyles and not about Jordan Lyles, as Chad Innings Eater is a temporary status for most. Sure, I'll make sure to celebrate the Jordan Lyles Rangers, Jordan Lyles Orioles, and Jordan Lyles Royals years we've seen so far in the 2020s, but the Chad Innings Eater really isn't one pitcher -- it's a lifestyle.
There will also be a vocab review. Ace pitcher is different from workhorse pitcher and workhorse pitcher is different from innings eater pitcher. How much of a Gigachad you are about it is up to you. Most pitchers can throw a lot of innings when things are going well, but Chad Innings Eaters get outs even when it isn't easy. So hopefully we can answer the question: do innings pitched matter? Even if they're bad innings, the Third Time Through Order?
