Now you gonna be famous not only in Japan but also worldwide 😂 What a legend indeed There is also Sukiya in my country, indonesia, maybe one day you will come here and eat the sukiya here haha 😂
Some guy eats nothing but fast food: *Ends up on TLC in a demeaning reality show. Some guy in Japan eats nothing but fast food: *Lost a few kilos, finds appreciation for veggies, becomes the unofficial ambassador of Sukiya, and he can still walk.
It's not even necessarily that it's slop, it's that it is full of preservatives and all kinds of other garbage. It's definitely still worse as an apples to apples comparison, but I do wonder how Super Size Me would've played out if he had eaten In n Out instead of McDonalds.
Japanalysis: "It wasn't looking good for poor Manarisu, it was almost over :(" Manarisu: "I though it was finally over, I was so happy to almost be free"
I would 100% use all that money and take someone in need to eat every day. I would go an find someone each day who looked like they needed to talk, or looked hungry, or get something extra to go and give it to someone on the street. (I know homeless are extremely rare in Japan, and they are not as obvious, but still…) Make a RU-vid where I interviewed over the food… stuff like that
@@caitchri2426 Homeless are definitely not rare in Japan unfortunately, actually its a pretty big problem due to problems surrounding their culture (i could go into more detail but itd be easier for you to look into it yourself through a youtube video abt the homeless in Japan or something). Unfortunately, I think the culture that surrounds Japan (very honourable and self-sufficient mentality) would also mean that it would be difficult to give random people on the street food, just my assumption though
@@vlunt300 oh yes! I know a lot of people are more technically homeless too, like living in capsule hotels, manga cafes and things like that. I think in order to give a gift of a meal to someone because of the pride issue, you would have to spin it as an interview or something.
if i were the management for his 1000th day i would have made a limited special for him (probably by asking him before hand what he would like the new bowl to be) and this would have been a good advertisement for the whole chain
@@albertoandrade9807 Off the hook? This dude has single handedly made more people sign up than they could have possibly dreamed of. Their marketing team is probably just sitting around chilling.
When he eats fast food everyday he's a man of sheer determination, but when I do it I "need to leave the chick-fil-a, we are closed" and "we will call the police"
Tbf, the fast foods he eat daily are "foods that were prepared fast and healthy meanwhile covering all the nutritional balance" meanwhile chick-fil-a is just just "chicken meat put between two bread that comes with very sweet water and maybe fried potato"
@@shmillbe3390 Sure, Mr Musk man, I get the joke first. But then I took the logic approach to explain it. Ain't no shit bruh, ofc fast-food context is different when you compare it between Sukiya which various food that could cover your daily nutritional need, and fried chicken in between two buns Chick-fil-A. That's the joke.
@@frds_skce fuck head, the original joke is about braking into a Chick-fil-A after hours wanting a burger, it's a goofy joke get off your horse and just laugh at the funny mans joke
I’m sorry for my broken English 🙇🏻♀️ Last night, right after I finished watching this video, my husband suddenly called me on his way to home and asked if we can eat Sukiya for dinner (I haven’t told him anything about this video). I laughed so hard and he was very confused. After he arrived at home with the Sukiya takeouts on his hand, I showed this video and watched it together while eating the takeouts he bought and he laughed! He then told me that when he called me, he actually wanted to eat ramen at Rai Rai Tei, but the word “Sukiya” suddenly came across in his mind and he chose Sukiya instead. What kind of coincidence is this 🫣
@@MR.BONES007it doesn't look particularly healthy lol. If you want healthy food, probably better to cook at home. That way you have complete control, and you can also save money
hey, he's looking back from a significantly later date after having all the experiences that continuing the challenge allowed him to have. of course he's glad it continued :)
@@Japanalysis yes but the narration and Manarisu retelling isn't really jiving with each other. They are kinda conflicting. Idk but it didn't feel right hearing it.
I love that no matter how long someone has been interested in Japanese culture, no matter how many book has read or videos watched, there are still topics on your channel you won't hear about anywhere else (unless maybe when you can speak Japanese and lurk the Japanese internet). Love your channel for that reason.
I hope Sukiya will add more variety to the menu for him, so that he doesn't get tired of the existing menu at some point. Nevertheless, the menus shown look really delicious and it's a pity that something like this is not available in Germany.
It is though. I've been to Germany and we found an amazing japanese restaurant that made good dumplings takoyaki and I had sesame seed ice cream for dessert. One of the best meals I've had at a restaurant.
Also have in mind Sukiya is open 24/7 On my first year in Tokyo I ate there around 4am many times. They also have a card that takes 70yen off every meal, you can buy it monthly. It saved me a lot of money at the time
@@meh6513 he literally said he only post 1 per day. But actually gone there 5 times a day.. And often times he would go there 2-3 times a day.. Watch before commenting
Dude, this video is gold. The build up, the scenes with mr himself talking about it, the tension if he is gonna get more donations and then you got 10:05 moment. I was hooked the whole video. Thank you for making this. You have talent!
He's the definition of suffering from success. But he's also a chad because he followed what he said, truly man of focus commitment, and sheer will xD 10 years from now lol. I hope he get Nintendo Switch by now!!
This channel is so underrated. This deserves more recognition!!! Love your content man.. Is this channel new btw? Cause your knowledge of modern japanese culture and japanese online culture is second to none!! This is what makes your vids so unique and seem very deep in japan.
@@Japanalysis sorry for the late reply, ill be proud watching you grow!!! Trust me in no time people will start flooding in and domt be pressured and stay the way you are.. i love this cpmmunity we have rn.. (no gatekeeping intended) 🥰
"It wasn't looking good for Manarisu" as the dude was eating non stop for months on end at Sukiya and was just hoping for this to stop. Ahahaha I love your dark sense of humour.
This is genuinely insane. The amount of money he saved and will be saving like this every month is incredible. I wouldnt be surprised if we just see him driving a Ferrari at 40.
I mean even at 1500 dollars per month thats like 18000 a year, maybe not ferrari level of money but a good chunk of some peoples morgage for sure. At least it's japanese fast food so I would assume no nasty medical bill catch up to him lol.
Lmao this guy is nuts “I fucking love rice, so I forced myself to stop eating it so I could really enjoy it. And boy did I” he gained 20 pounds what a legend
I cannot imagine eating myself eating from the same restaurant for more than 5 days straight. My dude is still going at it after years! And to many people who don't know, Sukiya doesn't have a big menu. There are only so many food you can choose at Sukiya!
What a crazy ride lmao From those fast food chain, Sukiya is the only one we have here in Brazil as well so I actually know it pretty well from personal experience. I honestly think I could eat there for years myself lol It has a lot of variety and it's pretty regular, rather healthy-ish meals for a fast food place. It's pretty much what I'd choose to eat most of the time, anyway. Having to physically go to a store to eat at least once a day sounds terrible, tho. Must be so hard to make plans or just relax.
Imagine if the time it takes to physically go to the store as your time to cook or buy ingredients then it makes it more worth while. It also counts as a light cardio if you decided to walk instead of use a vehicle. Besides, the guy doesn't need to eat everyday/everytime at sukiya because he already saved a ton of money for his other needs/wants. Skipping a day or two to eat a different food won't matter for the next decade at the very least .
Thanks for always bringing us those intresting stories from Japan! I cartainly would be happy to be able to eat for free for many years in a good restaurant chain :D Lucky guy! Happy Christmas and the New year!
Keep returning to this video because of well the storytelling is and how interesting this whole situation is. This and the video on the train guy are probably my most favorites stories on this channel
Great video, the topic is as always fascinating. Your video's always cover topics that "fit the internet" for lack of a better description. Glad I decided to stick around!
I like that the company also got in on the action. It's also good that Sukiya have enough options that Manarisu can look after his health even if he eats there every day.
I want to applaud Skiya for providing healthy and balanced meals to their customers. I remember some guy eating mcdonalds for 2 months almost killed him. This dude is enjoing his best life!
This was an amazing story and I was surprised to see Manarisu to keep up with the Sukiya challenge because Lord know I wouldn't be able to eat all that food without getting sick. Nintendo should just give Manarisu a free Switch already.
sukiya is not only healthier than traditional fast foods but is also actually usually faster than fast foods. i live in taiwan, the wait time for sukiya bowl is around 30 seconds to 1 min. the fastest I was served was around 5-10 seconds during peak hours. meanwhile mcdonalds can takes 5 mins on avg, and up to 30 mins on peak hours and I only ordered a mcdouble :(
Wow that's a really interesting story. I love his attitude about this entire thing (ordeal?). He must be really glad they don't just serve beef bowls. Now i kind of regret not trying Sukiya when i visited Japan.
Couldn't believe I actually saw his Twitter but didn't know about the challenge. He deserves those free meals for his persistence. Actually his persistence deserves an award.
I actually like Sukiyaki a lot. I was surprised to find out most Japanese considered it unhealthy food. Even so, compared to American Fast food, it’s a lot healthier. But the good thing about Sukiyaki is that they have specials, and change up the menu like most of Japan restaurants. Even so, it can still get tiresome. I’ll splurge on it on a few days, then get burned out. The beef is honestly kinda nasty LOL, but the curry is good, and they have enough variety that you can actually eat healthy. In any case, the guy defiantly is doing good on this deal.
Wow. For me, a meal does not feel complete without rice, so for Manarisu to casually drop that he went a whole year without rice is somehow FAR more impressive. No disrespect for his Sukiya streak, but dang man at least you are getting rice with the meal each time! I like how he casually just dropped that tidbit. And no sorries necessary for the lapse in update. Quality > quantity!
Sukiya is very popular in São Paulo, Brazil. I can't even eat there twice in a row because it bloats me like a party baloon, this guy is the Gyudon Final Boss.
Every time the significant spike increase in Mericari points he received at the dying moments, is absolutely the funniest part. Congrats to Manarisu for keeping it up and doing it for yonks.
Gosh dang it manarisu. Is there any time where anyone from nintendo asked him about the situation since it was the whole reason this whole thing exist in the first place?
I only know Matsuya from yakuza games. It was actually wild, I thought all the brands in the game were fake, because they were so well built in to the game. I was over the moon to actually try things out from the game. Product placement done right.
I live very close to a place called "Mitsuwa" that sells a very similar style of beef bowl and let me tell you, if I lived in japan, if there is one thing I could probably eat every day, it would be one of those beef bowls. I'm not lying when I say those things are freaking delicious
Eating rice with a single dish repeatedly is so common in Asia, and I know a guy that eat the same thing for months on end at least once a meal coz he isn't a foodie. This guy can eat any menu in Sukiya which is a big advantage to the challenge because there's a lot of different things to eat.
I’ve always wanted to better understand Japanese culture, but I didn’t really know how to do that without learning the language. Your channel is like a bridge for interested Westerners like me. Thank you.
For a fast food joint Sukiya has a great menu, diverse and (relatively a lot more) healthy compared to most other fast food restaurants. Can you imagine if he landed on McDonalds or something, guy wouldn't last 1 month after all that toxic waste ingested.
