Dave fielding occasionally uses delay boxes, so he can play a note that will persist repeating itself while he moves on to play other parts of the song. It adds a level of depth and texture to the sound allowing him to orchestrate himself to a degree. They are definitely not playing anything prerecorded.
Mark B can’t sing at all, he’s nearly tone deaf...no range at all...but I love this band anyway. Great gothic songs. A bit hard to bear all the sour notes.
@@thesound-chameleonman3580 I mean...the reality is that "post punk" and "goth" in the 80s often overlapped...all goth rock bands were post punk bands, but not all post punk was goth...Just about the only difference between a lot of the darker, more philosophical, or melancholy post punk bands and so called "goth bands" was probably mostly aesthetic...
