Another great organ in Washington D.C. I got a chance to play 2 organs in the D.C during my vacation this summer. D.C has a lot of amazing organs and it’s nice that you were able to show some of them off.
Wonderful demonstration. I see that you really enjoy the english handbells a lot! There is a funny story about how the Gallery Organ or otherwise known as the Pearl Neugent Gallery Organ came into fruition. Around 1978-1979, my teacher was speaking to Pearl Neugent about the church facilities, and he asked Pearl if an organ could fit in the balcony because the balcony looked very ugly at the time. Pearl said yes and Dr. Lon took out a piece of paper and drew what the organ would look like and the picture exactly looked like the present gallery organ there today. The gallery organ was installed in 1981 and the dedication of the 5 Manual console and gallery organ was in 1985. There were ideas of adding a 32' Contra Dbl. Trumpet from the Swell or a 32' Kontra Schalmei also from the Swell but it would have been taller than the facade. I might sample this organ since I have access to play it every Saturday. I just need to know how to sample an organ
An interesting demonstration of this additional organ to the main organ in this church. The most powerful trumpet that I have ever heard ! Incredible. A set of mechanical handbells; I have never seen this on any organ before. It's obvious that you truly enjoy exploring all of these various and very different organs that you have discovered on your American tour. Thanks for making a video recording of all of these.
What an amazing sound from the 2 manual organ antiphonal organ with the trumpets, bells, and 32' reed pedal. Appreciate your demonstrations of organs on your American tour, which I hope you are enjoying.
Guten Tag, lieber Paul.
What an amazing instrument! Thank you, Paul! The wind pressure for that trumpet en chamade must be incredible! I am always in awe of your talent and your willingness to share it with us. Many thanks!
Deluxe! I wish the Roman Catholic church would spend more money on pipe organs. Even some cathedrals are lacking pipe organs. Waning interest in the musical part of the liturgy.
A fine demo, as always, Dear Paul! But I have to say: the only "cute" thing about these organs was your socks! 🤣🐧 BTW, the "chancel" is in front, with the big organ; in this video, you're playing the smaller organ in the gallery. Have you been to the National Shrine in Washington? The Möller organ there has a Pontifical Trumpet, that is very impressive, and more "broad" in sound, somewhat Tuba-like.
