Neak Meas Market, aka Golden Dragon Market, is Phnom Penh's wholesale fruit and vegetable market... Really it's more of a neighbourhood than a market. The vendors spill out into the surrounding steets. You'll find a street with piles of bananas. There's an alley of corn. The coconut dealers are fun to watch as they chop the coconuts and then shred the meat away from the shell. My favourite area is where the shipping vans go to get unloaded - old rickety vans, dangerously packed with goods. They're parked and then unloaded, usually by throwing some large items around and loading them onto a dolly which gets pulled deeper into the market. It's quite a sight and I think worth checking out if you are a fan of markets in Asia.

I checked the map for this market. I remember this place in the early 70s when I was still in high school. At the corner there, there's a movie place called Chenla. It was the only government movie theatre. We went there for free movie because.............

Neak Meas is one of my favorite wholesale markets. Chba Ampov or Kbal Thnol fish wholesale market is also a great walk if you don't mind the smell and wetness. Watching you from Bangkok, Thailand!

Those fishes in the baskets were salted, steamed, and refrigerated. They are bought and used for many different kinds of dishes.

@@itchyfeetonthecheap they are steamed in those baskets, and so transported in them too to the market. They are cheaper than fresh water fishes, so people who cant afford to eat fresh water fishes buy them instead.

I enjoy watching you clips. Thank you. Is 2 clips I really like , one is the kampot holiday, the second one out is the best clip is the story of you father. RIP. he die just before getting is pension. Is really sad. That clip give me reality check for my life. To enjoy it as much as possible. Many working peoples work for too long and forget to enjoy life. Working for 30/40… years. We mast remember we don’t live forever. And mast enjoyed life as soon as possible. I stop working at 38”. The corn truck driver, who was a “kernel’ in the military, “cobbled’ up the “cobble” street. All the vendors said, “shucks” when they saw him….sorry for the “corny’ jokes. Please don’t “stalk” me when I wear my “silk” underwear.
