Hiii Jen, love your new color!! Sometimes takes time to get use to see it... I used to die my hair some years ago, and have the same feeling about regretting for not doing it, totally agree with the tragedy thing hahah. About your channel, I love your content and how your share your experience in such a honest way, and is totally understandable if you have to change the rhythm of your posting. Love the hair! Okay, long comment. I've been doing RU-vid for 3 years and I am not a successful tuber. I decided early on that I didn't want to make the same types of videos and just took a run turn, posted less and here I am trying again. I'm giving you some advice based on my own experience, stick to a niche/topic 80% of the time and you'll see success. Make videos on a consistent schedule and not necessarily every week. We all need to survive and web design is what pays the bills. People will understand your priorities.

thank you for this advice! and for sharing your story. ok niche/topic 80% of the time seems doable, then I can still do the kind of videos I want (like vlogs) 20% of the time. I appreciate the validation 💕

I think that if you feel like you have trouble posting every week and would prefer coming back to a rhythm that better suits your creativity you should do it. I follow channels that post every 2 two days, and others that post every 2 months and I feel like one of the most important things to please the algorithm is for some luck to happen. But if you're starting to be stressed about your schedule, it's that it will not be healthy in the long term! As long as you continue to make videos you like to do, with time I'm sure it'll do it because the viewer will feel the work behind it! (ps: I still haven't watched the Alaska video but I'm very impatient to have some time next week to do so!)

thank you for this validation 🥹 I totally agree with you. I was already starting to feel the shift from "this is fun" to "this is work" with making videos. I think going back to a more realistic schedule for me will keep the spark alive. and thank you for saying that about the alaska video🥰 I know it's a long one haha

Absolutely true! Love this video! I have one video that's currently on 22k views and still climbs monthly (my videos usually average like 50-200 views) and it was such a low effort video for me, I mean I had to push it out but it was part of a daily vlog series I did during lockdown and I was really just throwing out short ideas everyday because I'm no Casey Neistat haha, that shiz aint for the feint of heart, but now it remains (by a longggg stretch) my most viewed video and still constantly get comments and I'm just like... for realll?? that one?? Not the "films" I put weeks and weeks into trying to make really cool? Just gotta do you and whats good for you! The rest will come, at least so I'm told haha.

yess I feel this haha. this is a common sentiment I hear from small youtubers. because our effort isn't necessarily what pleases the youtube gods, it's the title and keywords and searchability and all that stuff that sometimes just aligns perfectly on a low effort video
