Shaun won in 2010 with 0 seconds remaining and Paul did the same in 2013. Please don't sue me! All copyright goes to ITV, ITV Studios, Potato and anyone else who may wanna take me to court.
Why do some idiots not understand the concept of a millisecond? Just because the clock says zero it doesn't mean time was up, both answers were in time and therefore legitimate.
IK, i have explained this to people and they keep telling me that its “dumb” and “doesn’t make sense” when it completely does. One dude said that i was saying theres milliseconds after 0 when I didn’t. I was just trying to explain the exact same point your making
Yes, it does. In games, both sports and TV game shows, timers that count down are always rounded UP to the nearest second. Which means "0:01" can mean anything between "0:01.00" and "0:00.01", and "0:00" means you are completely out of time.
It happened again today that the Chaser won as the clock hit zero. In stark contrast to the two Final Chases in this video, though, Mark's target was 14...
What do you mean, relaxed? He acted like a child, rude one-word sarcasm with no hint of humour, and then moped away before even shaking hands which everybody knows is what happens next.
The sinnamans final answer: Bradley’s reaction: OMG THAT WAS SOO CLOSE I CANT ACTUALLY BELIVE THAT! Sean’s final answer: Bradley’s reaction: ‘unlucky mate you’ve been caught’
He did not even begin to answer the final question until a total of over 2 minutes and 3 seconds had elapsed... every time the clock is stopped the currently second is reset - time is added to the clock, but not in such a way that it is visibly added - essentially the current second is 'rounded' in favor of the chaser. After getting many questions wrong the chaser was allowed to play for an additional 3 full seconds. I think this would be an easy win for the contestants in court by simply having an expert analyses the footage with respect to the amount of time given to the chaser.
That is not true, you can see that the clock always stops on a full second i.e. 6:23 Bradley says to stop the clock at 0:58 seconds, but since 0:58 had already begun, the clock stops on 0:57 . This mean the Chaser actually loses more time.
If I was the adjudicator I would have ruled *BOTH* of these answers incorrect. Shaun for answering *BEFORE* the full question was asked and Paul for adding an unnecessary pause.
Without the technicality of the clock being reset at the second the time was stopped. Shaun’s was a catch. This can be distinguished by the fact that as soon as the chaser starts his set of questions, the timer immediately jumps down to 1:59, meaning that the second at 0:00 will have to account another full second, which shouldn’t really happen because that just makes it look as if he’s gotten away with winning when the time has really “ran out” With Paul’s though, you can see that it accounts a second from 2:00 to 1:59 which is how it should be done, but then at the end, the time goes down to the 0:00 and he is allowed to finish his answer. As soon as the 0:00 appeared, that should have been it. The contestants should have won it The timing is majorly flawed with the final chase in these videos
Despite your points you made, it's a rule of thumb in game shows, anything involving time clocks. If you start your response before the buzzer sounds off, even if you are still in the middle of answering it's counted as still being in time. Paul may have hesitated for a second but his answer was still before all 0's
But with the first chase if you watch when the timer gets to 4 seconds, pretty much a full second passes before the timer is stopped. Then, when it starts again, another full second passes before it turns to 3 seconds, granting him basically an extra second so it was also unfair
We don’t know for sure as the on-screen timer isn’t the one they use in the studio. There’s one on the wall that The Chasers can see, and I believe it is also checked by an adjudicator.
You know this is old when The Barrister looks positively fresh-faced!!!!!! I thought I even remembered him having hair in the first 2009 series!!!!!! I'm probably wrong, though!!!!!!!!
Hey I tell you what, compared to today's episodes Brad seemed to be a lot less sympathetic to the losing contestant(s) in the final chase then he is today!
The questions are stacked. I watch the Chaser every night. I have noticed in previous chases if a Chaser gest a question wrong & the contestants get it right Bradley will ask a question for the Chaser to answer that is soooooo easy my children can answer...like what colour traffic light is displayed when you can enter the intersection etc.
the 51,000 pound loss was ridiculous, because of the fact that paul paused it should've been called a draw, and the team should've been given either half of the prize fund or the opportunity to come back on the next show, i know that's not how the game works but that really seems to be the only fair way to handle it. if that had been me i would've probably called an attorney.
+Lewis k The time's up signal started to go off, and not only that but i think the rules state that if the buzzer goes off in the middle of an answer it doesn't count whether it's correct or not. (i could be wrong about the 2nd part though.)
+Wheeloffortunefan999 He was half way through the answer thats why it was allowed, also an attorney would have a laughing fit at you if you even tried anything, It's a game get over it
Milton Minz Well, many instruments have 4 strings. The violin, viola, cello, and bass all have only 4, so it seems like the best guess when you're tight on time.
@@butternutsquash1 Yes they choose but the questions do sem easier aand I don't just mean for the Chaser but this happens on other game shows. My meter is if I can answer the questions right.
I want to find that one chase where the beast loses to the fact he gets the wrong question and then curses on live TV. I just can't seem to find it. If anyone can, please link me :D
I'd LOVE to see that too. you Brits are SO lucky that you can say whatever you want over the air and not get censored for swearing. they are HELLLA strict about that over here in the U.S. (at least on terrestrial radio (SiriusXM is fair game)
Danny Eyheralde You definitely can't swear on TV here without apologising afterwards! And for a pre-recorded show like this one, obviously they'd edit any swears out
watch ANY episode youll see what I mean. just because contestants questions aren't here doesn't mean you can't compare. the show is fixed. you're entitled to your opinion...I have mine. I may be wrong but I see what I see.
Slow that first one down to .5 speed and you can clearly see the clock hit 0 before he says four. Unfair to the contestant. But, Bradley did spend a lot of time approving the sauce/pepper answer. Second one, all but the n of the persons name is said. Very tough call, but probably fairer to award it to the chaser. Thoughts?
Shaun just got it in the nick of time in my view, and Paul got the "Caan" in right on the change to "0:00" too. How about this one? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XJJIWw_TTvo.html (part 1) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QAnwpYIp7TM.html (part 2)
Hold it now...Look at the timing ill back it up 5 seconds and look at clock closely time: 7:59 cause look at clock under the reason I think he did not say it fully in my words of judgment.
Was the only time I didn't have respect for Sean. That contestant won that pot by himself. There is absolutely no way someone could have verified Sean's guess answer in that millisecond. I hope he sued the show. If that happened me I would not have left the studio. Chaser was beaten by the clock. Impossible for Bradley to confirm if correct in that second
Something dodgy about that first one. The contestant almost looks resigned to defeat already when the 4 seconds restart, as if he knows it has been set up for him to quickly shout the 2 answers. Then he doesn't even look dissapointed and his sarcastic reply almost seems as if he knows what's really going on.
@@northaviation7952 I think he meant that the first name part of Paul's final answer is complete, though he didn't say the last name in time as the timer went zero. To be fair though, he caught the three with milisecond to spare, about 0.5 in my opinion despite the clock clicking down to zero. So I agree this wasn't fixed.
It was more than fair, rules in game shows involving clocks are. If you start your answer before the buzzer sounds off, it is counted as a valid response. Paul started his response before the klaxon went off and before the clock hit all zeroes, so not matter how you say it isn't fair. At the end Paul was in time with his answer even if he faltered for a split second the judges still counted it.
Fixed the chasers should of lost both of these as they answered the final questions on 0:00 seconds which is out of time and the buzzer went!! Robbed of the money both times!!
Actually no, rule in game shows are. If you start before the clock alarm goes off, it's counted as a valid response. Same thing for the game show pyramid. If you start your response before the buzzer goes off it's correct.
The whole concept of the Final Chase is so flawed as to be farcical. Surely the final round of a quiz show should be a battle of knowledge and wits. This isn't any kind of battle; the contestants are almost completely at the mercy of the Chaser, and have to rely on hope & luck to win. Case in point: I saw one today where there were two contestants left. One of them was an amazing lady called Vicky, who answered almost every question correctly, and they ended up with 25. And yet, the Chaser still won fairly comfortably. It makes a mockery of the format.
What do you mean they're at the mercy of the chaser? The contestants get at least a one step head start and have opportunities to push the chaser back, as well as the fact there's often more than one contestant in the final chase against just one chaser. Plus it's meant to be challenging otherwise the show would just hand out cash each show. Looking at the statistics of each chaser's wins, the contestants win around 1/4 of the time, that's not unreasonable for a show like this.
Let's break this comment down coherently shall we; 1- it is a battle of Knowledge and Wits... both sides are asked a series of general questions just as tough as the other group will be asked. 2 - Rely on hope and luck? How may I ask? It's up to them to get as many questions correct in the first place to even be in the final let alone win. 3- Your comment about the chaser winning comfortably, you do understand this is their job right? They are bound to have a slight edge on the knowledge side because they probably research and read everything and anything they can get their hands on, but then again, the contestants are given the chance to hit them back a question if they stumble, the pressure is on the chaser believe me.
Honestly the main thing that bothers me about The Chase is that everyone gets an equal share of the total money accumulated, which means shitty players who get lucky walk away with a far bigger cut than what they potentially put in (usually the low offer from the Chaser to maximise distance and chances to win/answer wrong safely). Irks me no end, but I always regarded the best chances to beat The Chaser in the Final Chase is to pass quickly if nobody answers immediately (time is precious) and obviously answer well...not guaranteed granted...but get at least 22 steps (how good this feat is depends on remaining players, 4 players hitting 22/23 is pretty simple but magical when 1 person alone does it) and you can potentially win. Labett, Wallace, Sinha and Heggarty all usually lack some modern culture knowledge and it's usually a good chance to push back, again not a guarantee as some modern culture is more pervasive but it is a common theme amongst them. Classical education will only get you so far sometimes. Love this fucking show.
it was quite fair, if you start your response before the klaxon/ buzzer sounds off. No matter if you are in the middle of responding, it's a valid answer, unless they give a wrong answer. Either way he was in time.
c3po626 the first chase was totally fixed asf tho the clock stayed on 00.04 for like 2 seconds(well at least over 1 second maybe like 1.5). If it was me I’d get investigators or something.
