I bought a 2024 manual transmission Nissan Versa in August. By getting the manual transmission, you avoid the CVT worry. I just got home from my first road trip, put over 1200 miles on it on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and capable it was on the freeway. The only negative I can say was that when you are directly behind a semi, at highway speed, the car does get buffeted around a little bit - nothing scary. Just don't tailgate semis. After this trip, my overall average is 44.6 MPG. It was a very relaxing car to drive, even through construction zones. The small size and ease of maneuvering is much nicer than my F150 with an 8 ft bed. LOL
It WAS a bargain at $10,000 in 2019 after discounts. Not for over $15,000. I’d pay more for a better car. $17,000? That’s a grand and change away from a base Corolla.
That's exactly what my grandma owns until now. Feels spacious to ride on, honestly. And a 3-cylinder engine? Packs quite a punch, like a half of a V6 :D
We have a 2014 version of this that got flooded and we swapped it with a 4g63 manual About 200 hp. Very unsafe.the reason this got only 78hp may be because of CVT longevity. Our 2014 was a great car until it got flooded. At a crossroads now if I should continue my sleeper project. Car is in the Philippines.
The only problems i find with the mirage. If the mirage we had was a manual, i would have enjoyed it at least given the impressive MPG of the car however i detest it due to the reason follows. Dies on idle or on times where it is very inconvenient. Middle of the road or on a parking lot. Mirror visibility is less ideal. The shapes just makes it hard to see whatever is beside me giving me less confident trying to actually turn right. The steering wheel position and it not being telescopic is just not great. I am average size and it doesn’t boost confidence’s turning. The larger circumference of the steering wheel doesn’t help either making one handed or even two handed turns feel like i need to wrestle the wheel. CVT being painful to even drive at low speeds as i always feel it slipping and trying to bite on lower gear as if the person doesn’t even know how to shift… i hate that feeling. It being a CVT. If there are smoother and better CVT, i might appreciate it but first time feeling this sort of transmission gave me a headache every time i try to even drive it from low speed. The car has issues and it is brand new. This car being the first new i3 model of 2024, I am hoping a recall would happen cause i thoroughly dislike how it handles itself
You know up to 2019 they sold a Nissan Micra in Canada that started at 9995 dollars BRAND NEW. This mirage made zero sense for us back then, since the Micra was way more enjoyable to drive and it had 4 whole cylinders instead of the 3 clackity clack pistons on the mirage. It had reasonable real horsepower too
if you really think about it, the mirage/attrage has lower running cost (fuel + maintainance) than every single hybrids ever, in the long run. and has lower fuel cost than almost every single ICE cars. and has longer range than any market EVs.
well I guess you need french cars that would really beat the mirage in all aspects take the peugeot 208 2024 for example having the same starting price but a lot of technology and style to offer
@@urielgonzalez2874 if you buy the puretech version but we also have a diesel variant 1.5 bluehdi 105hp it's known for it's reliability and efficiency it does 40 to 50 mpg
if you choose the puretech which rarely anyone buys it here in Morocco we have a reliable diesel engine variant 1.5 bluehdi 105hps which is sufficient for a small hatchback and very efficient it does combined 58 to 63mpg
I can only imagine how crazy that must feel on the road. What kind of setup did you go with for the compound turbo? Was it worth the investment in the end?
@@ilovecheap_cars Yes. We have cars like Nissan Versa (we call it a "Sunny") for very cheap as they are oversaturated in the market. They are the common "efficient, cheap, reliable boring work vehicle"
@@hariranormal5584 It’s interesting how different markets shape the perception of certain cars! Do you think there’s a car model that’s currently overlooked but could fit a similar role in the future?
Mirage goes 200k without batting an eye, its actually one of the most reliable cars outside of a Honda or Toyota... you may not want to drive it that long, but its reliable as heck.
You cant buy this car if you're going to be on the highway because you will not ne safe. It needs to be faster. 130 hp should be as low as a car goes. 76 is asking for problems.
I appreciate your feedback! While 130 hp might be ideal for frequent highway driving, many cars with lower horsepower can still be safe and efficient in the right conditions. It depends on how you use the car-smaller engines can be great for city driving and fuel efficiency. For highway use, features like stability, handling, and driver assist systems are also important in keeping things safe. Ultimately, it comes down to matching the car to your needs!
@@k4piii cruise and take forever to go back up to speed if u have to slow down and may he have mercy upon your soul if you have to switch lanes while doing so.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz I understand your concerns, but it’s important to remember that safe highway driving isn’t only about horsepower. While a higher HP can help with acceleration, other factors like aerodynamics, torque, and weight distribution also contribute to performance. Many cars with less than 130 HP are designed for efficiency, and with proper driving habits, they can safely manage highway speeds. It ultimately comes down to how the car is driven and maintained.
