Tier lists... I've always thought it's difficult to navigate the marimba mallet market because there are just SO many models and brands out there, and they are all called the same thing! So why not organise all of the brands into 'tiers' or 'segments' - so you can figure out which one is right for your budget!

@@AdamTanPercussion $400 per set of four. Look at the mallets by Steven Marimba Chavez on Facebook. You have to scroll down OR IN PHOTOS. Rosewood shafts that he handmade from scratch. Then Mexican and Guatemala rubber wrapped separately for the cores for different hardnesses and bigger for the bass area so there is not that annoying TICK sound due to too hard of a mallet. SPECIAL FEATURE: On the inside of the wrapped heads, ARE NAVAJO AND ZUNI INDIAN INLAID WITH TURQUOISE STONES. THEN ON THE ENDS, HE USES TURQUOISE STONES, CORRAL, AND OTHER COLORED STONES. $400 PER SET OF FOUR. Stones alone cost $60-80. Handmade rosewood, two hours per shaft to make and sand down. Wrapped-30 minutes per mallet. Yarn-45 minutes. Also, graduated hardnesses per set with the largest for bass. PERFECTION AND EXPENSIVE BUT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MALLETS EVER MADE.

The Innovative Percussion IP200s are great for students and begginers. Since they're not very hard or soft they provide a good balance. You don't have to play too hard to produce a clear balanced sound. I recommend these since they're not too expensive but you're guaranteed a good quality pair of mallets.

There is a small U.S brand called Pegasus Percussion that has a couple series of marimba mallets. Their quality to price ratio is fantastic!

I'm so glad you made this! As a high schooler soon to be in college, this helps me not *totally* break the bank lol On another note, I'm unable to get the PDF from your webpage; while all the other free downloads lead somewhere (i.e. you get a link when you hover over them), the MMMList button doesn't have a link attached (i.e. you can click and click and click and it won't do anything). Is this an issue for anyone else?

Freer Percussion has some high end mallets. Mainly timpani and xylophone but those are already like 80 a pair for timpani and 60 for xylo depending on the series

Smith mallets are very inexpensive and extremely durable and great sounding, the hemp series is my favorite, they are very similar to the salyers jeff moore series, but wayyyy cheaper

For students i recommend the thomann own mallet they are fairly good have lasted me a couple of years. Priced around £12 per pair... deffinatly a deal

I once got to try a pair of ABCs that someone else had. They felt amazing and sounded like any other mallet really, similar to any of the M1 mallets, but with an insane amount of warmth. I dunno if they are worth $100 + but dang they fine

Buy new/different mallets :) If they keep bending they probably aren't very good mallets, or you just need to take better care of them.

In France they are not so expensive. For example, the Jean Geoffry series is cheaper than the Keiko Abe mallets or the the Malletech LS mallets.

There is a mallet brand names jets percussion on eBay and there dummy cheep. I bought a couple pairs and will look into them but it may be a good option. It would be cool if you did a review on them.
