I have that exact pump. It took a really long time to fill my transfer case and transmission in my CJ2a, but it worked. Your pump worked way faster than mine.
Bought this pump at Harbor Freight for $7. Amazing. Needed to change transmission fluid in my Rav4. Was ready to get under the car .... Then i discovered this little miracle machine. I got 3.5 quarts out in about 10-15 minutes which is about all you'd get out with a normal drain under the car. I'm still shaking my head on this one..
That pump also works well in priming mechanical fuel pumps like the one on my Suzuki Samurai after a squirrel got to the fuel lines. I just hose clamped the pump's hoses just above the fuel filter and it only took about 3 pumps to fill the filter and prime the whole system.
I just used it to pump about 6-7 gallons of old fuel from a Cherokee that was parked for the last 3 years. It took about 45 mins all I, I’d say. I’d hoped it would siphon, but no such luck. Still, it did transfer most of the fuel, so I suppose that’s a pretty clear win, even if it took lots more effort than expected.
@@simonwagstaff2776 I change the oil in my wife's Mercedes with it. The small tube can fit down the dipstick tube. I learned that if you just pull the handle up, then wait a little bit, it will start to fill full of fluid. Then you push the handle down and do it like that again; instead of continuous pumping. I just chill in a lawn chair while I'm transferring any significant amount.
I used one of these to drain a water heater (from the top) that had a frozen drain valve. It saved the day for sure. Tips: 1. It can also be purchased at Harbor Freight 2. The ends are just friction fit on and can be straightened if you like. 3. "Lifetime Warranty" does NOT MEAN YOUR HUMAN LIFE SPAN - it means for the projected useful amount of time of that component. 4. Be careful using this to pump any fluid that has sand or grit in it as that will destroy the o-rings. 5. Pumping this too fast (like a hero) will also destroy the pump. Cheers.
First used it with the small hose attachment to drain trans fluid through the dipstick when swapping to a new pan with a drain plug. Didn't get kicked out of my apartment for making an oily mess in the parking lot.
I have one of these pumps for various fluids and it works great. Never used for gear oil, though. Still highly recommend for the $$$$$$$$ cheap factor.
I have bought no fewer than 10 of these from harbor freight over the years. Each fluid gets its own, and they're stored in a sterelite container. The harbor freight ones don't have the hose locking pieces that I'm aware of, but maybe they do and I've just never taken out the accessory bag.
Got that same identical pump but different brand from HFT for $4 after coupon and picked up a free tarp. Going to use it to drain some ATF fluid that I over filled. By apx 8oz
This pump will last for many uses if you flush it with water after you are done using it. I use it for transmission and power steering fluid. It works great.
I've used mine ( Harbor Freight) to drain the diffs on my Jeeps. The seals weren't leaking so I figured why pull the covers. Anyway, worked great for that. Also used to pull the oil out of a pressure washer, also very good.
I used one of those to refill my diff a couple of weeks ago. It worked all right, it just leaked a little, and the intake tube popped out one time, but I didn't have it in all the way when I started.
Make sure you flush with water after use. I didn’t & it leaked then fell apart after 1 minute. I hadn’t used it in a year or more. I just got another one - package marked Pennzoil from Home Depot. Paid $10.00 for it. Thanks for the video !!
Luckily mine, the 2 "valves" lined up....ha ha Good simple vid, cheers from England..i had purchased one and it had sat for ages on a shelf as i expected it to fail, sometimes good things don't cost a fortune !! [cooky]
For that price, you can buy one every time you need to do maintenance if you needed to. You're still saving money over paying someone else to do it. Nice to see something so cheap work for once.
I've had one for 3-4 years now and I've abused it and it still works. I've used it for gasoline, and for a little over a year now I drape the outlet over side of boat cover that pools water after a storm and get the water going then hang it and let it syphon all the water out. When it's done I throw it on the ground under the boat. That's atleast a year now of pumping water and not putting a little oil inside for seal and it still works.😀
I bought this exact pump and my Beagle destroyed it (package and all) before I even had a chance to bring it out to the garage. Guess I'll get another one!
it works fine with gasoline. I use mine to transfer the fuel of the generator to the motorbike, to keep there always fresh one. Afrer pumping gasoline it is recommend to lubricate the pump with wd-40
I use one of these to change my oil considering my oil pan drain bolt broke its welds while it was shut. Works really well, i got mine at autozone for like 20
FYI if you lose a/the sleeves that seal the hoses onto the pump 'top battery post protective caps' are a perfect fit- go on nice and snug (what are on a new battery when you purchase)....must drill out /burrow center with large bit of course ..but simple... can get pair on Ebay for $1.99 ...I'm guessing if you swung by Walmart / Pep boys auto center the mechanics probably have some kicking around for free. My troll tip for the year...
I have the same brand. I never knew it came with the little slide over hose retainers. The first time I used it on a differential the output hose shot off and left a 15 foot "splat" down my driveway. Maybe I should've read the instructions........ ... Nah.....
the oil that came out looked brand new... people change their oil/fluids about 10x as much as required, that gear oil will last 150k no problem and only need to change it if youre gonna keep the vehicle past 200k
108K on that fluid. The owners manual calls for a 90K service interval on the tranny gear oil. It was $30 for the two quarts of Lucas. Cheap insurance just to change it and $30 every 100,000 miles is more than reasonable.
@@bleepinjeep gease that stuffs twice the price in canada, i typically change out fluids when something else needs fixxing in that area the jeep wheeling im lucky to make it to the suggestion points before the oil is full of metal debris or broken gears, some people change diff fluids and other gear oils yearly on street driven vehicles.. just a waste and only asking for trouble when a bolt seizes or cross threads
Got one at Harbor Freight for $7. I bought a check valve on ebay for $7 and put it in the discharge line to transfer propylene glycol into my hydronic heat system. I easily brought the system pressure up to 20 PSI but could have gone higher.
Would this work for diff oil & transfer case liquid change for my 07 jgc laredo? Need to do mine hitting 200k soon gonna bypass that white soapy pump u said n go w this
I know it's super late after your comment, but I'm sure it would work fine. I've been using my cheapo Harbor Freight pump for many years now. I change the oil on my wife's Mercedes. Mine has a reducer and a tiny hose that fits down the dipstick tube to suck the oil out. The best way is, instead of constant pumping, pump a couple times and leave the handle up. Then it will slowly fill up. Then wait a little until it's full, then pump it. It's easier on the arms and works faster. It's probably easier with the larger tubes too.
When i used this pump i created so much suction the inlet hose collapsed a popped off dumping oil everywhere which absolutely pissed me off to all ends of the earth. I have used it with success before by using rubber fuel hose to avoid this problem.
@@gatoroffroadOR exactly... i didn't know HF gave them away, maybe many don't know that... The jeezless christ tho... he sure would! Thanks all-knowing cool guy!
Same one I've bought at Harbor Freight. The problem is there disposable they dont last. Work great one time then there pretty much garbage so I buy them on sale when I can because there done after 1 or 2 uses. Im sure someone makes one that will last for not much more
@@bleepinjeep I'll try but haven't found one yet. If you can get them for free like Jesus mentioned you can't beat them. I had one that hooked up to a drill at one point which was the best one I ever had but it didn't last very long either.
Canada. It doesnt work on thick oil like dif fluid or transfer case fluid . It not really good . I didnt like it . I used ( motermaster ) brand syrind to get the job done. It it woeked great .
on package "lifetime warranty" *opens package "1 year warranty" I haven't laughed that much in a while, they were probably so cheap they didn't want to change the packaging print.
I got the Draper version in blue only £2-3 more, In all honesty they all look to be manufactured exactly the same but the Draper one feels quality and there pretty solid, no leaks and works brilliantly
Absolutely NEVER trust those cheap metal frame maintenance ramps!! I’ve seen them collapse on multiple occasions. ONLY USE ramps with a solid structure.
