Hey man greetings from the UK, have you had a chat with Josh at Black Star Motorsports before? He's currently in the development stage of a turbo kit for the RX-8 he's going to be offering to the Public for under 3.5k GBP, im sure you two would get along like a house on fire and he's a great mechanic on the rotaries he's looked after my RX-7 since 2014
I don't understand. You have a turbo, but no boost? Isn't that bad for the turbo or something? Does it even make anymore power at 0 psi? Might seem like a silly question, but trying to understand turbos a bit more
If the turbo has an oil feed, all it will do is spin off the zorst gasses. It will pump air, but that air is not connected to the intake so it wont create boost. Done this way because when it is plumbed in you then need to worry about the boost and scale your ecu maf accordingly, otherwise no more apex seals.
this is history in the making, one day kids from 2050 will find this video, and my old rx8, some dumb gonna wanna ls swap it then stumble upon this, thank you mr rad
Where is a place to look for a 86-88 FC for a project car? I'm ignorant of where to look. Would love if it ran enough to get to a store and back. Make it something special some day. This channel's energy has been inspirational for a while. Had 2 coupes and a vert. 2 8s. Now I have nothing but a dream and burning desire to have a coupe again and one day experience driving/riding in a turbo rotary as all 5 of mine were NA. Stripped the vert out and removed the cat-back and it felt a lot faster, nimble, and was loud af in the driver seat; sold it to a friend for some reason, passenger seat was much more quiet. Everyone loved the flames shooting out the middle of the car. Nostalgia and passion. I just don't know where to look and I'm rather certain AutoTrader is not the ideal place. sorry for the rambling, any guidance on where to look for a low cost FC would be greatly appreciated. My first one was a 88 GXL in Tornado Gray. Second was a white targa vert. Third was a coupe with headers I couldn't figure out what happened to the idle and power over a certain RPM back in the late 90s as a teen. Probably nothing! I ultimately don't care for the 8s; FDs were always out of my budget and there is something about the FC styling I prefer. Thanks for posting videos of grass roots rotary stuff. While I enjoy Dahm's stuff, this is more relatable than almost everything he has done for years now, and I'm happy for him living his dreams! I think I've been looking for a channel like this, but a lot of people do rotary stuff as a bit, a series, and they kind of all do basically the same few things ... what everyone else has done, or something over the top, which has still been done a lot ... but all glamour, not substance in the way this channel gives. 'oh hey look rotary, isn't it neato? it can be ported, ...' vs pros and cons of experimenting with a hybrid Renesis with a custom header. Detailed, informative videos. Priceless to the community imho.
Do you havea shop that you work for or recommend for rx8 work? In outbof Raleigh Nc and the closes i can find is 2 hours and has nothing but bad reviews. 😢
damn this series is kinda making me want to turbo my rx8 since its on the lower side of compression. I do prefer the greddy/rx8 performance set up where the turbo is tucked away below the intake manifold.
If all your rotary engines have had a oil leak not saying its not possible but i think your experience with rotaries hasn't been the best but either way DORITOS
My vote is for the AHP tig welder. They are around 700 and go on sale a lot. You can weld longer with it than any other in it's price range or far above that I have seen. The pedal sycks though and is the first thing to change. Other than that it's a solid starter machine
Primeweld 225x is a great welder for the price. Many welders love it for the price. AC/DC, has pulse, frequency, and Balance can also be adjusted. I've used my friend's Primeweld. I have a everlast power tig 255ext but that's about 2½ times the price of a Primeweld 225x which is basically under $900. I would just upgrade to gas lens cup kit from like Furick, get a wedge collet and a tungsten grinder. Plenty of welding videos on RU-vid.
To trick the ECU you keep the OMP still pugged in the loom but unbolt it from the block & bolt a blocking off plate over were the OMP goes. Then tuck the OMP somewhere in the engine bay to keep the ECU happy,as long it is plug in it will not go in limp mode. Then just premix the fuel.
Slightly janky, but I'm running an oil pressure gauge off of the pressure switch connection. The threads for that connection are 1/8" npt. If memory serves, that connection is post filter also.
i have the same sentiment about trunk mounted batteries. but if it's a must, one of those amazon chinee jumper boxes is so much more convenient than the mentioned dirty old jumper cables
