Once in a lifetime probably. I lost this jeep in a house fire and went to a tj. I didn't have the heart to try and find a replacement for such a low priced clean xj
@joshuanoble5333 Ya clean examples are not easy to find anymore for great prices. Took me a long time to find a 2 door manual that was worthy. My original jeep was an 82 j10 honcho lorado with a lot put into it to say the least. Won't be finding another one of those. Xjs can be turned into killer overlanding vehicles. The weight or 1 tons can become an issue. A 300hp all motor stroker would be perfect for all around ability in these. Stock 4.0 is a bit of a dog even with regear and bolt on mods.
I enjoy the peace of mind i get from the ford 8.8 and trusses. You definitely need a locker up front. I am not sure you need that many tools in the back. Lol Thats a great story for a great looking XJ.
I still haven't decided if I'm sticking with the d30 or building my d44, but either way front locker is coming lol Also, there isn't anything in the back hatch that I don't use regularly besides the spare tire lol
OMG 😳... Just saw what happened on that video.... I'm in Australia and yes I remember the news feeds we were getting over here about the wildfires ( bushfires for us). So sad to hear what happened to the community etc... So sad about the XJ... But luckily it can be replaced unlike us humans... All the best !👍
I’ve been following you on Instagram. I have a ‘98 XJ that is a former gov vehicle too (Pitkin County, CO). I’ve been on 31s with a 4.5 inch short arm for years and I’m trying to plan a “phase 2” of the build. I’m leaning towards cav fab with 33s and 4.56s. 35s look sick but I do a fair bit of rock crawling here in CO and i want to stay as reliable in the rocks as possible.
Tire size has to be one of the hardest decisions us xj guys make. Ultimately I'm glad I went with 35s. The more I read and ask people who actually use 35s the more confident I am with the idea of abusing the d30. I even see a lot of guys running 37s on hard trails now with built d30s. Fingers crossed mine works for me lol
I see the cause of your rear spring sag. I have the same problem on my 95 XJ Bumble Jeep. I have no spare at present, but I do have a reasonably stocked Kobalt tool chest I carry in the back. I built my own shackle relocation brackets and also have 2" lift shackles. I'm running 33"s . I'm sitting about an inch lower in the back. I really should shift my tool chest to the center to balance the load. You have a really nice build. God bless, stay well.
I would keep the 8.25 and hp30 and go enjoy the jeep i think too many ppl over build there jeeps then dont even get out and offroad them much. And like you said parts are easy to find if you break something on the stock axles. I have beat some xjs pretty hard on 35s ive broken front carriers axle shafts yokes you name it and i still would keep the stock axles. They take a pretty good beating on 35s esp the 8.25 29 spline rear axle. The front can be built to be pretty dang tough too
I lost this jeep in a fire. I have since moved on to a tj. It is going to get the hpd44/9in I had set aside for the xj and it will get 39s. But yes I agree that xj got wheeled hard on d30 and locked 8.8 I had in there. Never broke the axles, but 35s were the max for me on that setup
Cavfab! Heck yah! I can’t decide if I want my Manche to have a full front & rear (coil spring) suspension kit from Ironman4x4fab or go with cavfab & keep the rear as leaf springs.
Here's a few pros of sticking with front 3 link and rear leafs: 1) simplicity 2) rear stability 3)cost. I really looked into doing a rear 4 link but decided against it. The biggest reason was seeing others online have issues with stability after making the flex so much. A lot of guys have to add sway bars, like the antirock, front and rear to help control the flex. I imagine that if a guy used coilovers front and rear that would be the best
@@emptypocketsoffroad thanks for the input. Hmm yah I can see how that could lead to even more cash or issues down the line. Ya have any experience with the Comanche leaf spring over axle? That’s been another thing I’ve been looking into.
Thank you! And sort of. My plan is to have a rv battery in a box with outlets and such. It will have an Anderson plug for charging and will be able to move from rig to rig or be used in my offroad trailer that I haven't built yet.
Just haven't gotten to it yet. I have frame stiffeners on the work bench. I'll clean all that up when I install those. I took off the pass. Uca mount the other day when I did ota track bar.
It's actually a very easy swap. It's completely plug n play. The hardest part was finding a good deal on real gauges lol there are also guys on ebay that you can send the new gauges to and have them correct the mileage to match your rig
@@emptypocketsoffroad thanks bro I just finished swapping it got everything working except the coolant temp sensor. I just ordered a sensor for it too. I had another cluster laying around it took forever though changing the mileage to match mine.
How much would you pay for a rear set, not used, no hardware, notch customs fender flares for a Cherokee. Minor scratches from being in a shed; nothing that can’t be sanded.
The ol' tribe police dont know how to crawl. Need to do a get together and a wheeling trip one of these with you. Btw owner of the red chili pepper jeep .
@albertort1 adding the track bar solved my bump steer issues. It still wanders a bit but I think I have other issues and the big tires. I think its the ultimate setup for an offroad rig. For a mostly street vehicle I think I'd go 1 ton tre steering if I did it again.
@@emptypocketsoffroad i'll probably do the ota track bar soon , im also planning to do long arms i have cav fab or iro in mind but cant make up my mind yet
