Yeah I don't think youre crazy, but I think its because he's friends with him. He treats him more like a friend (i.e. meaner, snarkier, comments), where with a stranger, he has no idea if they will take it seriously or not.

I know that Paul & Noel have been friends for many years even before Paul got into comedy. I’m also pretty sure that Paul’s first buzzcocks appearance was at Noel’s request. The ventriloquist dummy routine is something they’ve done on tv before.
