Yes, which wasn't exactly true to the book, but I Ioved it! It made them more relatable imo, both actors did a beautiful job of keeping to the essence of the characters while bringing in the chemistry that gave it more life!

@@samwiseg7380 Sort of like my son. I suggested he read Shakespeare’s Hamlet. He was quite hesitant but he did decided to watch it. I would stop and explain certain things to help him through the language. He absolutely loved it! But then he got a bit sad. I asked why. He said Shakespeare can’t write a sequel. I just laughed.😁
Just had to say that Keira Knightly's (beautiful woman naturally of course) make-up is absolutely stunning. The brown/neutral palette they went with really brings out her eyes along with the eyeliner. She just looks absolutely stunning in this scene
tbh I think they should cast someone less obviously beautiful than Keira because she was supposed to be less pretty sister and the movie suggests that he fell from the first look because she is pretty. But of course her acting and tension between them are really good
No hate to bridgeton which is a fun little watch and a stylized non-historical dram a but this scene and many others in this movie prove that desire is more breathing really heavy and heaving your boobs. Matthew McFadden's facial expressions are truly brilliant in this film. Goes from so angry and uptight to so vulnerable on a dime as he processes his emotions regarding Elizabeth. At the time this was made I had never heard of him and was shocked at how perfectly he was cast. They both did an incredible job. There wasn't a poor actor in the bunch everyone was phenomenal and every single one of them went on to do great things.
I had seen him in other movies but I got excited reading that he was to do Pride and Prejudice. IMO, he’s the best. He’s able to be elicit emotions with just his eyes and expressions. I decided I’m going to marry him. 😂
Such a fantastic movie. I've been watching it a lot. My daughter walked down the ailse to Your Hands Are Cold from this movie. It was my homework assignment to watch it before the wedding. Now I'm obsessed as my twin daughters already were..
I didn't know of him at all before this but was immediately drawn to him and personally found him much sexier than Colin Firth (and I did like Colin a lot!!), and his facial expressions, particularly the vulnerability hiding just a thin line below his stiff facade of aristocracy was what really did it for me. Plus those eyes and of course that walk of his at the end of the movie.
Yes, the characters wanted to kiss. His eyes said it all-in addition to the breathy hesitation and their movements toward each other. Magic! Great acting and directing. ❤ Beautifully done!
The beauty of it is that they both recognized and owned their own mistakes and imperfections. I love that he did all he could to save her family’s reputation after the Lydia/Wickham debacle but had no expectation that she owed him anything in return.
Attempting another adaptation would just be pointless… you can’t recreate something so unique. Their chemistry is the sort that is hard to recreate in the edits…
I literally almost swooned when he was walking across that field to her and when he stumbled saying the words “I-love-lov-love you”. 🥴🥴😍🥰❤😮 McFaddyn is the best Mr. Darcy in my mind. Those eyes are swoon-worthy. And at the end when he’s repeating “Mr. Darcy” while kissing her. I think I’ve watched every Pride and Prejudice movie there is and I love them, but McFaddyn’s portray of Mr. Darcy is the best in my opinion.
@mariachester950 No wedding scene in the book, it does move into life together at Pemberly considerably more than the movie does though. Hopefully you get a chance to read it. One of the most cherished classics!

Best Mr. Darcy ever. His mannerisms, eyes and facial expression are those of a man in love and in turmoil trying to control himself. And yes, both characters want to kiss! 😅 They did a wonderful job!
