I have a 19 Silverado with the 5.3. I am not against the 4-turbo I just worry about longevity of the 4-turbo. Sure it can pull stuff but for how long. The 5.3 is a proven workhorse. I don’t car about 0-60 times that is why they make Camaros! I bought a truck to do truck stuff and the 4-turbo doesn’t scream reliability or longevity…. At least not yet
The trunk 4 slots under the 5.3 like the 2.7 does of the 5.0 for ford for CITY work , small HWY work , and get good MPG which is does . If u constantly on your top end then shit will go south. It also help keep the v8s alive , without this I don’t think the 5.3 am could go on. Ford figured this out , that’s why so many v8 castings can be had over there, not so much for GM
I don't consider pulling boat around a parking lot a true test, show real road test hills, on ramps, interstate pulling then I'll be a believer for now I say BS
My buddy has a 2022 Silverado with the 2.7L. He's not happy with the towing. He tows a RV weighing about 6,000lbs. It does fine on flat ground. But not good in the mountains. Any kind of grade and it's struggling.
@@guardrail2897I have a ‘23 Silverado with the Turbomax and tow just under 6,000 pound though Snoqualmie Pass often, and I don’t find it to struggle one bit, at least no more than my 5.3. Slight difference in fuel economy though. 5.3 takes the win there.
I own a 2021 Chevy Silverado Custom with the 2.7L 310/348 lb ft I must say I’ve owned the truck almost 2 years now and I absolutely love it. It’s a great daily driver as well as a Trip truck drove it from Baltimore to Bar Harbor, Maine then down to Niagara Falls then into Ontario even drove it on the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) then back down to Baltimore and it handled like a champ I’m really impressed with the engineering behind this engine
That boat is awesome, SeaHunt makes one of the best boats for the money in terms of deep-vee center consoles. Nicely equipped for $175k, which is becoming more and more rare these days. As for the truck, I certainly wouldnt use it to tow that boat, but it's nice to see it can. The 2.7 is a great choice for those who daily drive their truck 95% of the time, and need to tow something 5000-6000 lbs the other 5%
I got 31k miles already on my 22 1500 2.7 crew cab I tow my camper from WV to Oregon,Idaho,Washington for work. I’m just over 14k lbs gross with all my gear. No complaints here. It’s has been a great truck.
First off, sorry for my way-too-long question-post, and thank you! please tell me more about your trailer and any tips you may be willing to impart upon this newb. I am one year in and still relatively new to towing trailers, towing period. This past Saturday I bought a 23 1500 LT with the 2.7L to replace my 08 Tahoe 5.3L LT. My trailer is 4500lb dry (maybe 5500-6000 fully loaded.). My towing experience with my Tahoe has not been a good one, has been expensive and has me a little rattled and nervous now. I am hoping that you can help walk me back from this ledge that I find myself looking off of. ;) What do your trans temps look like? I know that this engine is tuned so that it maintains optimal temps for better efficiency across it's complicated systems. My 23 LT trans temp is 195-210 in 80-90°+ weather just driving around without my trailer. Does the A/C being on while towing mess with the engine and trans temps, making the truck run too hot? How has your experience been getting up some steeper 6°-ish grades during your cross-country travels.....Just traveling east across Oregon to get to Le Grand is no joke, heading towards Idaho. There is a 6° grade that runs for 6 miles with a 2000 foot change in elevation. How'd you do it! haha Thanks again, Anthony!
@@VayaconChupacabrathats what these trans temps are supposed to run at. I'm know in earlier models guys were deleting the trans thermostat. I don't think you can in the 2.7 but I don't know if it helps anything anyway. I put 130k on my 15 4.3 6 speed with no issues before I got rid of it. Warmed up, was always about 200.
I've had my 2022 Silverado LT CCSB 4WD 2.7L turbo for a little over 6 months now and I love it! I drive it very reasonably on the highway at 60-65 mph, and it gives me 29-30 mpg on trips all day long. The best 50 mile result I've gotten with it is 33.7 mpg! It also tows my 30-foot, 7500 lb. travel trailer like a dream and on my last 600-mile trip towing it I averaged 12 mpg. GM also has the 8-speed tranny really dialed in nicely and it is smooth as silk with my 2.7L turbo. I thought I wanted a 3.0L diesel, but not anymore after driving this 2.7L. I've previously owned 2012 and 2013 Silverado's, both with 5.3L engines, and the 2.7L turbo is a far better engine in every respect. I'd like to upgrade to an LTZ maybe in 2024, but only if GM starts offering the 2.7L turbo in that trim level.
I'm sorry. Did you just say 30mpg?? I think the EPA highway rating is 20-21mpg. Usually those EPA figures are difficult to attain in the real world. Can you help me understand how you managed to get 30 mpg out of a 5000 + lb full size truck??
@@salamancadingding yes, I can! In my experience with my truck, the EPA highway mpg figure is highly underrated…for highway only driving. We drive our truck on trips and when cruising along on 4 lane highways at 60-62 mph with the cruise control set, that 2.7L constantly returns in the range of 28-32 mpg. Now with mixed driving around home that is another story as we only average about 20-24. I drive my truck like an old grandpa ( because I am one) and that makes a huge difference in the fuel economy, but that gentle driving style isn’t for everyone. Lastly, we just returned from a 500 mile trip pulling our 7500 lb camper last week and I averaged 12 mpg, which is the same as I got when I had my 6.6L diesel pulling this same camper. All in all I could not be happier with my truck and that 2.7L is a great engine for me!
@@davidsalmons5606 that's great to hear man. I just picked up a 2023 Silverado with the 2.7 and I am looking forward to seeing the difference in fuel consumption. My previous two trucks had the 5.3 V8 and they definitely loved to suck gas.
Speed makes a huge difference in MPG, since the power to overcome wind resistance is an exponential function with speed, not linear. I've managed to squeeze 29 out of my L3B with cruise set at 68 MPH. I am now considering purchasing a 26' Jayco at 7,083 LB dry. I am a GM engineer and have consulted with calibration engineers who corroborated that this truck/engine combo is a very capable tower.
Hello. I just bought this truck (Silverado 1500 LT 2FL Turbomax, 4x4) about 4 weeks ago, this car is beautiful, good, strong engine. If possible, please post more videos of the Silverado 1500 2.7l, 4-cylinder truck pulling an RV trailer. Thanks
I bought one in June an I've pulled my dump trailer full of compost trailer is #3500 lbs an full of compost down highway at 70 like nothing behind truck an mileage is better than they say if your easy on it
I got mine at $12k off the msrp of $52k so it cost $40k plus all the taxes tag title and I upgraded the warranty which I prolly wouldn’t do again but they high pressure you on that.
This 4 banger outperforms many trucks because it has torque for days. I watch 8 cylinder pick up truck owners in the right lane trying to sip gas while I blow by getting 22 to gal doing it. These trucks are great. Also they are not mini vans.
I have 22 GMC pro with 2.7 in single cab 6.5 bed 4x4. A lot of miles on I15 at 80 mph. I get 18 mpg after 2500 miles of interstate cruising. I think the mileage would go up if it were driven around 65 but that is not how we drive in the west. I do like the motor and tranny and it drives very smooth. 2000 rpm at 80 and it never has to shift down going up any mountain passes with the turbo.
That's about the same mileage I get. Not sure how these people are getting their claimed 25-30mpg highway unless they're coasting downhill for 300 miles.
@@jakestewart7079 They are not driving 80mph is how they do it. I drive a 2.7L ecoboost F150 with the 10 speed. At 70 I get 23.5 mpg in the 10th gear. At 65 in 10th gear I get 26 mpg. At 55 I get almost 29.
I have been in that 80 MPH traffic out west and think it hilarious as hell you guy complain about high gas prices.. you are the problem,, slow down and it goes up.. plus the wrecks are horrible. speed kills every day..
I pull my 20ft Bullet bass boat with 225 Mercury outboard with my Colorado Trail Boss with 430# torque calibration , it’s like it’s not even back their, I also tow with my 02 Silverado with 4.8 liter V8 but doesn’t feel near as strong

Not saying that the 2.7L engine is bad or anything. Try taking that boat out on the highway and some hills and you'll want a bigger engine. Your not really towing the boat.....Just moving it to the boat ramp.
Is it me or am I missing something? I went on line to a local dealer and pulled up window stickers of all the 2.7s, at most listed towing capacity was 6800lbs???
My 2022 crew cab with towing package has a sticker showing 7000 max vehicle weight, 9000 LB towing capacity, 900 LB tongue weight and 14,500 max combined weight. So, with a curb weight of 5,095 LB, to tow 9000LB I could only add 400LB or people/gear to the truck/trailer; not a very realistic scenario.
Is this the 2wd model? Do you know if it has auto rear locking diff? Looking at this same truck but on the fence about 2wd with locking rear diff or 4wd, I live in AZ and seldomly need 4wd and the price difference is like 4 grand here.
Gentlemen said a pick up on a budget but these Silverados are far from a budget. They're 53K on the low side and 1200 a mo. But they're definitely peppy especially the new 310hp 430tq version
Na bro. The Customs start around 46 mrsp, dealers here in South FL are letting them go for below 40k. Paid $38 for mine 7 months ago. Different ones like the Trail boss are probably in the 50s msrp
kind of an odd video that you did not pull the 9300lb. boat down the highway.......... you did pull it up a ramp which I commend you for but the meat of the teach for towing is "Towing"..... not launching boats.......
Shame on you and the Stealership you work for sticking to some buyer. $5k over MSRP. Disgusting bunch of criminals. Did you win the weekly award for sticking it up there a__ the best at the Monday morning sales meeting? Yeah, your the guy alright. The guy to avoid.
Power on new truck is expected. 300 hp great. There's no longevity in 4 cylinder turbo for full size truck. Never gonna waste 50k every couple years just to trade in because engine problems.
This didn't tell me anything about the towing capability of this vehicle. From what I seen, any vehicle with a hitch could accomplish this task. I own a 2023 Trail Boss with the 2.7 L and couldn't be more pleased with the performance of the engine.
In-line 6 or and v6 turbo or hell the 4.8l v8 turbo should be the smallest engine they are even thinking about putting in a half ton. But at this point is GM just chasing ford? This is why truck guys or GM lifers are saying eff it and going to Toyota. Well, this and reliability issues.
I get that Toyota has a better past reliability record but their new turbos in the Tundra are having tons of problems right off the gate. The 2.7s have been pretty good so far. Do the research.
@@danielbonner8309 I'm well aware of the Tundras. A large amount of those are spun bearings, and happening at 25k to 80k. Yoda's free maintenance falls off after 25k. Also depending on how well these dealers (or owners) are actually doing the maintenance or putting synthetic (not blend) in to check off oil changes, especially with a turbo engine. I'm talking more about GM's unwillingness to deal with their V8/V4 DOD debacle and now putting a 4cyl in to bow down to the EPA to lower their combined MPG for their fleet. We'll see the longevity with the I4's. Lack of lube tends to happen with engines spinning bearings. We'll see what really comes out with this.
@@TheArthrighteous Ya Gm def handled the afm issues and the 8 speed issues terribly and that sucks. Bowing down to the EPA? I mean yes they make trucks for real work and a lot of them so their hands are kind of tied by the EPA. Because Toyota doesn't sell as many trucks and they are light duty, they have the luxury of getting away with poorer gas mileage and emissions numbers. At the end on the day the trucks GM, Ford, and Dodge make are more important than what Toyota makes and they get punished for it by the EPA. Which they are working through trying to make trucks gas efficient and reliable. Toyotas getting a taste of what those 3 have had to do for the last decade or so and they are dropping the ball too. I'm sure they'll work through it and those V6 turbos will be fine and I hope Gms turbo 4 does well too cause there is one in my driveway 🤙
It proves Chevy and anyone associated with Chevy will just keep pushing this motor down our throats. The dealer lots are loaded with the 2.7 near me (Chicago burbs) but very hard to find a diesel or v8.
LOL! Talk to you after you pay it off after launching your boat every weekend. If I were to bet, you would not have a working engine, and maybe the transmition as well.. I will take a 5.7 V8 Truck any day. Can't buy it if you don't make it
so you hook to a boat and drag it to the ramp and that a win?? how about on the road with some wind and hills.. my ford ranger can tow a boat to the ramp.. big deal.. show me the hills.. :)
Other waste gm 2.7 engine is joke like it chevrolet vega. Gm engine many came long just like late 70's,80's 4,6,8 v engine oldsmobile v8 diesel , 305 engine. It not worth $57,700 sorry price should be maybe $27,560. Better gm engine line for trucks is 5.3 engine, 6.2 engine if bring back 350 engine.
