The Chick Corea Elektric Band - Elektric City - Live in Spain May 1986 (FULL) Chick Corea - Keyboards Scott Henderson - Guitar John Patitucci - Bass Dave Weckl - Drums And Featuring The IDJ Dancers
He was great anyway but this was a game changer. We were all like WTF is this. also having the feeling that this is the ''right way'' of doing things.Still is a great concept.
This is great!!! Scott Henderson was my personal instructor at MI- G.I.T. in '84-'85. He was a great guy. I was just some 18 yr old flake kid from Columbus who felt very intimidated among a shredders from the world over. We were the last Fall Class at the old MI location- a _former_ Hollywood actors studio located above the Hollywood Wax Museum. So glad I was at that location. We might have had a lot of quirky broken down gear and narrow hallways...and that dusty old faded thin red carpet everywhere, but the performance stages had so much energy from all of those actors and musicians that came before. Nothing at all clinical.
How can they memorize so many details and phrasing????? It is out of my capacity. I would become crazy and schizophrenic. Definitely talented musicians
Saw this for the first time today. Can't believe I have never seen it before. Really fantastic video! Love Scott's style on this. I do like all the Frank Gambale stuff, unlike some others here, but Scott and at least some of this music really does go exceptionally well together. IMO, both fit, and I'm really glad this is out there to showcase Scott's playing live with the band! Also, that Ken Smith sound... And of course Weckl... And of course, Chick.... RIP....
My favorite line up, saying this I love all the other bands, but that one is in my heart. I remember how I "ate" my VHS tape of this concert, it was REALLY something back then.
I don't think any visual style has aged as much as what these guys did back then :) but this album was without a doubt the defining moment in music for me. Aside from Chick's creative genius, the things Weckl and Patitucci did on their instruments were out of this world. I was lucky enough to see them live in 1987 when they played a particularly intense version of Silver Temple, a track not included in all formats of the album's release. I had a hard time breathing.
awesome just love chick corea with scott henderson its a shame that they could not have played more together. i guest its like mile davis and john coltrane they are just too good be in the same band . greatest band ever
I waited all my life for that and never happened, scott is my heroe but his ego was as big as his talent, he didnt respect chick, thats why the reunion with him didnt happen.@@mixmixture7049
They kicked him out apparently he was a very unruly guy back then, Scott. Which is a real shame. Frank Gambale is amazing too but with Scott the band had a different character.
... o man - this is soo (pretty) 80ies !!! But in terms of FUSION - love this !!!! Love this much more than RTF, saw them live in Hamburg in ... '91(?) Love everything from Chick , may he REST IN PEACE !!! (sorry for my poor English, Hello from Bremen/Germany!)
READ THIS - You need to see/hear the other video concert, same band and year that is twice as long I think but the solo's are all extended and BLAZING. From memory I think it's from Germany maybe but OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Fricking KILLER beyond even this one which I own on Laserdisc which is now on DVD and I LOVE this one too. Love Chick and having Henderson in here is Stellar. Hit me up if needing you know what! RIP Mister Corea, You ARE THE MAN!
This is a Single concert! Onto ragged one I listened the tape recording of their appearance given on Budapest, the cassette unfortunately somewhere at the time of lost moving. Scott's solo in the Malaguena, and the Hymn of the Seventh Galaxie astonishing ! R.I.P., Master Chick !
The true story as was told by Weckl is….Scott Henderson made a playboy move on Chick Corea’s female tour mgr at the time and Corea found out and fired Henderson!!!!!
This is amazing. Never heard of them before. Reminds me of Spyra Gyra. Can anyone tell me what their best album was, I'd like to have a listen and check it out.
My favorite EB lineup..Scott didn't stick too long however, Tribal Tech on the horizon + I heard he and Chick kinda clashed,,love JP's sound on that Ken Smith bass! Beats the Yamaha in my opinion..just saying..
chick's estate should start releasing some of these shows on C.D. / D.V.D....too good to be stuck in some vault somewhere.... reissue all the elektric band albums with extras....
