luckily the US had failed to push their failed democracy to China, LOL. If China has multi-party electoral democracy, it will be very divisive, almost like the US and the opposition party in China will even be funded by CIA like what they did in many countries when those ruling governments do not align themselves to US interests, hence there will be many unrest like riots and even revolution. And also, politicians in China will keep playing the nationalist sentiment like everywhere else, to keep themselves voted into office again, hence there will be real confrontations with other countries. And most importantly, China will be nowhere near as prosperous and advanced as today because politicians from both sides will debate non-stop and even smear each other on issues like whether to build bridges, roads, high speed rails and even to wear masks or not during Covid !! what pisses me off greatly is, the western narrative, specially the US does not only demonize other countries, but also brain washes its own people letting them believe they are the best in the world, and a lot of people will think "oh well, what can you do, its just life, other countries have it much worse than us" or something like " I know I'm not havint a great time, but we are the greatest in the world, we are better than everyone". and that supresses a lot of people looking for actual changes

If they weren’t you wouldn’t hear of it because they don’t have freedom of speech. That’s the difference between them and us. They have different values from the west. If you don’t care for freedom, democracy, or human rights, by all means praise China.

@@DongsMBM You guys have to understand that the west has a serious and probably rigid prostelysing culture since the ancient days of Christianity. They still carry the same DNA of their ancestors of always wanting to convert others into their belief, which they think is so-called the only way and right way, but this time in the modern times is no longer trying so much to convert people into Christianity but into democracy. So it's no wonder that the west, especially the US is getting worried because China is showing the world what an alternative political system could achieve and even had outdone democratic countries in many aspects.

What is it you are unhappy with? American average income is 7 times higher than Chinese, housing is 80% cheaper than China, automobiles price is 40% lower than China. US has 4 times more universities, 10 bigger millitary, .... now tell me what can be done to make you more happy? And you can try to criticize Chinese government and Xi Jingping, or mention that you are not happy with the way movie describe the Korea war, watch your social network account be deleted and you will be arrested and re-educated.

US today is no longer the dominant US of the past, not even near. And let me tell you what will make US happier, real gun reforms and ownership laws, safety from walking out at night and serious crimes, real healthcare reform which is affordable, no more lobbying of Congress by the super rich, inefficient and even incompetent government no matter who you voted for. And all the above mentioned do not exist in China or have largely been solved.

"Americans usually want china to be like Americans" That is a fallacy that the US has been very successful selling to too many people around the world. The US does not even appreciate ethnic Chinese Americans who are fully "americanised" and whose ancestors were already US citizens way back from the 1700s. The Chinese has been the "Yellow Peril" since the white men first met and interacted with the chinese people and that mentality has not changed an iota. The chinese people need to stop buying the snake oil mixed with crocodile tears from the US or the west about that belief or America's wish. The truth is the US wants China to always be poorer and less advanced/ stronger than the US. Its political system and ideology is irrelevant. Under the present geopolitical scenario, that pretension of wishing that "China being just like us" has been discarded and openly named China as an enemy of the US.

The westerners used the word 'massacre' liberally especially for China eg. in Tiananmen and Xinjiang. You want to know what is truly massacre? Talk about the Japanese invasion of China and the Nanjing Massacre, talk about the rounding of ethnic Chinese men in Malaysia to be beheaded, talk about bombing civilians in the name of war.

This I know for a fact as I stated I am actually from Beijing and living there during that time. But I believe every country make mistakes, its more important to learn and improve from those mistakes.

Because she says that there was no such thing that happened. It was more of a mutual fight, most of it didn’t even happen in the square, and very few people died.

@Angelique Wu no such thing? There are literally videos, and my neighbors son didn't come back. And my parents were shot at as they were going toward the square on that night. When Chinese can actually face the facts instead of trying to hide everything, that's when China will truly rise above everyone else.

It's the best university in China, tied with Qinghua. At Tiananmen square, Beida students made up the bulk of the forces, so I'd say that the amount of deaths that happened there are pretty representative of what happened. From what she's told me, the chaos started as the students were leaving the square, as previously negotiated with the officials. It seemed that someone in the back had shouted that there was someone shooting or something? And from her recollection, it seemed that there had been one shot, but it seemed to be aimed at the sky, to try and scare off whoever was in the back. After that, it was chaos, as the stories got distorted or exaggerated by the chaoticness of the night. It was only after the incident, when the students all came back to school that they reconvened and talked about the incident. All of the students involved had to write many reports and paperwork to the government, so they had to recall what happened the night of. It seems that overall, no one died in her department (Computer Science), one person died in the chemistry department, and a couple were dead in the political science department. There were also a couple more from other departments, but overall, the vast majority of people were alive. In no way does any of her account or anything she's heard from her fellow students support that the military, ordered by the government, fired upon the mass of student protesters to try and massacre them. And in fact, accounts by various people who I know are accredited have also supported this view. Many of these people nowadays are simply professionals in their field (after all, they did go to the best university in China, and were the best and brightest of their generation). A couple of them even immigrated overseas, and interestingly enough, some of the more political ones actually moved back, and now are in various positions of power in the government. Some of them are still in contact. I think it should be considered that basically every single person of a certain age range who went to university at certain places was most likely a student protester. The fact is that the vast majority of students who were in the square protesting on that night are alive and doing very well for themselves, which they wouldn't be able to do if they had all been shot dead.

I too have been puzzled by the same thought. The west claims to celebrate diversity and celebrate freedom of choice. So the chinese people have chosen a different type of governance system, but the US and many western countries said NO......China must have western style "democracy". WTF

@@williamhan2064 give you few examples that how human are not equal in China before communism. Unlike western usually they are racism, China didn’t really care about race. What China used to have was the inequality between emperor, minister and people, that’s now gone, the concept of communism believe officers are providing service to people, not rule people. Another example is husband and wife, China used to think wife is a property of husband, wife will take husbands last name, now nobody does that.

What’s your opinion of Representative democracy, basically everyone joins and compete in suburb level, then the best in suburb level joins on issue of city level. Everyone involved in a higher level issue needs to prove their ability in lower level issues. And what you think that a person can enjoy the freedom to speak on social issues, can wear the cloth they like, can walk on the street at anytime, can travel anywhere they like. But of course, any of the above action cannot harm others, otherwise it is an abuse and maybe illegal. Is this person has freedom? What I just described is the current situation in China.

Secondly, speech is still highly regulated in China, especially that which disagrees with the views of the state. At which point, what is freedom of speech. You can only compare China to developing countries with similar scale and income. almost all developed countries have great coverage.

Regional electricity cost are higher than metro area (apparently higher cost to get electricity there) in Australia. However in China regional area has lower electricity fee so they can afford. Another example of mobile Internet and phone access as another essential service, it has better coverage in China.

Really? In summary, the fear of the West on China is that China will be economically and militarily stronger than the west, particularly stronger than the US regime. All the claims about political ideology differences, system of government differences and the other differences are all false flags and disinformation. The west and the US had no problem with a China that was very much more communist than it is today when they decided to make "friends" on mutual interest basis. They didn't set the condition that China must become a "democracy" 30 or 40 years down the road. So why the type of rhetoric nowadays? It's all about the strengths of the current and future Chinese economy, technological advancements and consequently the rising strength of the chinese military. And that the US regime see as an unacceptable threat to its current dominance and hegemony. How a typical school yard bully sees the arrival of a new boy with even more impressive abs.

Actually the theory is increase the middle class through wealth creation via open market system or liberal markets, sooner or later the middle class will clamor for Democracy. In all honesty, it failed because the regime did embrace market principles and in doing so it became the ultimate beneficiary. The West has no problem China is getting prosperous and wealthy, did not Clinton urged the WTO to accept China as a member? What the West failed to anticipate is that China's ruling regime used the world economy and the democratic system of the West against the West. You may flag ideological differences, political system differences as false flags, irrelevant, or just disinformation. But it remains a fact that it is what make China unpalatable not only to the West but to a number of Asian countries. China is real becoming the bully it wants to topple. China going out for revenge due to century long humiliation is the real unhealthy narrative and propaganda that's spoiling the image of China. If China can rise peacefully with democratic principles, the world would have embraced China more willingly. The West in fact loves competition, but China is way beyond just in for competition; China dreams of subjugating the world with its worldview. I find it Ironic because even communism is a Western idea. So you see, China really lacks originality. Even at its core, it but a product of the world it wishes to subjugate.
