Very little information on The Cholas..!! They are the pinnacle of South Indian and South East Asian civilizations and their culture and trade reached China in the east to the Arabians in the west and beyond. Lots of misinformation in the video too.

Chola one of main empire in Tamil History and there three main dynasty called Moovendar means three crowned Kings Which is Cheran,Cholan and Pandyan. Their History wrote in Sangam literature which one of main book for Tamil because its also considered ancient History book. Chola dynasty one of most powerful empire in Asia that time and they are one of the longest living empire in the world. The FIRST DYNASTY USED AND INTRODUCE NAVY POWER in India and standing army over 1 MILLION that time. Chola dynasty also well known for engineering such as build Kallanai Dam by Kaarikalan Cholan which is still using today and considered 4th oldest dam. Their influence went to north India and Southeast Asia. Arulmozhi Varman aka Raja raja Chola was given the name because all the kings on his influence was under the King Chola. Arulmozhi Varman(great grandson of Kaarikalan Cholan) was famously known for his success and architectures compare to other kings and two empire. The King also known famously known with another name called Ponniyin Selvan(Son of Ponni) and refers to Kaveri River. Tamil film director Mani Ratnam sir gonna shoot film based on Rajaraja Cholan which desperately waiting by Tamil people not only in Tamilnadu but all the Tamil people in the world and I'm one of them. It is amazing how they built the temple, in 1000 year there were 6 major EARTHQUAKES, the temple has no impact, I just discover how they built it and till no one know how the 80 ton place on top of the gopurum

Dear Indi, The person(s) who made the video that you reacted to had no idea about the Cholas either. Otherwise to call Rajendra as the one under whom the dynasty fell is travesty. Rajendra is perhaps the greatest of the Cholas and conquered all the way up to the Ganges in the north, had the largest standing Navy in the world at the time, over threw the Khymer rulers of Combodia, controlled the straits of Mallaca and sent emissaries to as far away as Korea and China. Further, a video on the Cholas without reference to the bronze sculptures and the iconic Shiva Nataraja is just a joke.

I am from the Chola's capital Tamil Nadu. This video is a shortened Version of the achievements by Cholas. @3:44 yes it is that temple with a 80000 kilograms weight of rock on the top which is still a debate of how they managed to lift that rock above.

There are three Tamil Kingdoms - Cheran ,Cholan and Pandian. All had election system for local body governance.

Cholas and Pandyas were prominent rulers of southern india between 6th and 13th centuries. Basics of there administration was power distributed to the level of sub committee at villages than bigger committees and so on.

I'm from tamilnadu. But I itself never learnt so much about the three kings.. I learnt somewhat but not everything.. Our Indian education must include the forgotten histories instead of British rule... Bec I know much about British rule than our Indian kings history

Hi Indi ..Im from Malaysia..just to share..Chola Kingdom is one of the greatest because of their devotion towards to the GOD especially lord shiva...under the rule of King Manuneethi cholan in srilanka nearly 50 years theres not even single injustice happened...2) RajaRaja Cholan peoples king where he was elected through peoples vote..saivites means they they will be vegetarian and they their devotion to Lord Shiva..Due to devotion & pure loyalthy he along with his people build Tanjai Big Temple ( Brihadiswara Temple)..He made all those who helped in this noble effort their names carved at temple stones...King RajaRaja has the ability to know the future where he instructed carving on that temple regarding the future .If you need further info regarding Chola kingdom you can refere to Mr.Orissa Balu from India to know further..For me king Raja Raja Chola & most of the Chola kings are great examples a king should be...

Even Korea had links to India including its language.. over 2000 years ago, Indian Queen married Koeian King... today they are called Kim Dynasty..!

there are some more information... the dynasty is categorized in 3.. the ancient cholas in bc , imperial cholas or medieval cholas in 9th century, later cholas ... they are considerd one of the longest ruling dynasty in world.. the 9th century to 13th century is just medieval cholas...

Cholas and pandyas were one of the longest ruling kingdoms in history of India, cholas by 1000 ad had conquered lands as far as Malaysia,singapore,indonesia,java,sumatra and Phillipines.They too did joint diplomatic missions alongside with Sri Vijaya empire to china.also nevertheless to say battle to conquer kadarm in Sri Vijaya empire , today's malay has one of the interesting naval warfare tactics in history

Hi Indi, The video could not provide the accurate details about Cholas. During the rule of Rajendra Chola 1, Chola dynasty reached its zenith. He is an able ruler like his father Raja raja Chola. He defeated rulers of orissa and Bengal and brought water from Ganges and built their next imperial capital named as Gangai konda cholapuram. He also conquered Sailendra empire of present day Indonesia.

Karikala Cholan a King belonging to the earlier Chola dynasty built the incomparable dam called Kallamai on the Cauvery river almost 2000 years ago. The dam still very much in use today.
