THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN MOVIE REACTION! Today I'll be watching a film I have never seen before The Chronicles of Narnia 2 released in 2008 for the first time. Here's my Narnia: Prince Caspian reaction. Want to watch the ENTIRE Movie with me? Check out: / timotheereacts
One year after their previous adventure, the Pevensie children (Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell) return to the magical land of Narnia and find that 1300 years have passed there. War has come to Narnia once again, and the children join forces with Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) to overthrow the evil King Miraz and restore peace to the land.

I love how in this movie, Edmund behaved more like a king than any of the other princes and kings in this. He didn’t lose his boyish charm, but he always felt very mature through this. I think I like the first movie the most but this is still a great watch.

Not to mention how Peter and Edmund were portrayed differently in each film. In the first film, Edmund was the Immature brat, while Peter was the Mature level-headed individual, while in _Prince Caspian,_ Edmund is the level-headed individual while Peter is the Immature one.

I remember we watched Prince Caspian in high school English class (I went to French school) and we had to write an essay analyzing one of the characters. Everybody either wanted Lucy because she's arguably the most important, a lot of the girls wanted Peter just because they found him hot. I was the only one who wanted to write about Edmund! I think he's the best character in the movies, especially this one. Although I do love Lucy, and Peter in this movie is also way more interesting/complex and compelling than in the first one.

The contrast between Edmund in this movie vs the first is amazing. Peter was clearly very tempted by Jadis (the white witch)'s offer, where Edmund cuts her down without hesitation, because he better than any other living being, knows her true nature: Pure Evil. Also interesting to think that Jadis is older than Narnia itself. She was there when it was still empty space, before Narnia itself was created by Aslan. Only a small handful of beings can claim the same, including Professor Kirke from the first movie and his childhood friend, Polly (but we don't know if Polly is still alive). Even more interesting is that Jadis was already thousands of years old at that point. When she was asked about the dark nature of the sky in her birth world "Charn" she responded it had been that way forever. Or "At least, for hundreds of thousands of years," so she could be even older than Aslan himself (though unlikely)

Something that is mentioned in the books, but I think they leave out in the movie is that, when they come back to Narnia, that the longer they stay, the more of their old lives there they remember and feel. They remember their old skills and manners. They start acting more kingly, and queenly, they get their old stamina back and remember how to fight. So, while they are young, people recognize them as kings and queens by their bearing and demeaner. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but Aslan is an analogy of Jesus. His death and coming back in the first book , outlined it. And his title is, "Son of the Emperor, Beyond the Sea." For all intents and purposes, he is practically a God in this realm.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying this trilogy! I don’t know if you knew this, but Reepicheep and his fellow mice are descendants of the very same mice that ate away the cords that bound Aslan to the Stone Table. It’s also suggested that the evil dwarf Nikabrik is a descendant of Ginnabrik, the White Witch’s dwarf in the film. My favorite moments are the children returning to Narnia, seeing the cave drawings and the Stone Table still cracked from Aslan’s resurrection, when we see the dark ritual take place and that Edmund destroys the wall of ice to prevent the return of the White Witch, the showing of Aslan in that scene to remind us to always have faith in Jesus even in the darkest of times, Aslan’s return and turning the tides of the battle, and how Peter and Susan must accept the responsibility of finally growing up while Edmund and Lucy will still be able to return to have another adventure with their new friend and fellow ruler Caspian. 👩🏻‍🦰🧑🏻👩🏻‍🦱👱🏻‍♂️🤴🏼🦁⚔️🛡🏹🎺🧪

While I prefer the first film _(The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe)_ and the third film (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) over _Prince Caspian,_ I still enjoy it for the film's serious and dark tone it had along with having a lot more action. Not to mention Edmund in this film seems more mature than his older brother Peter Unfortunately it was the last Narnia distributed by Disney and I still won't forget the day when Disney gave up on _The Chronicles of Narnia_ franchise following the Box Office performance of _Prince Caspian._ While Caspian didn't bombed and wasn't a failure, the box office performance of that film was way lower than the Box Office performance of _The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe_ released 3 years earlier in 2005. In fact, Caspian's Box Office performance really soured Walden Media's relationship with Disney which is why Disney didn't want to distribute the next film _The Voyage of the Dawn Treader_ due to a budgetary dispute with Walden and Disney feared that the budget would increase during the production and release of the film. But to make things more complicated, Walden Media's rights to _The Chronicles of Narnia_ expired in 2011 and in 2018 Netflix now has the rights to make film and TV adaptations for The Chronicles of Narnia series thus making it impossible for Disney and also Walden Media to make new films on Narnia.

Great Netflix will ruin this iconic trilogy by making the serie super serious and boring like they did with Winx. Fate is like Riverdale but more boring and changing the girls species makes no sense. They are using magic so why not keeping them as fairies AND giving them wings? Fire wings doesn't count cause it's made of flames and not real wings. I'm not gonna watch the Narnia serie. Review will be more creative, respectful and fun than the show 🙂

@@nique5843 I believe that's just a rumor though. According to C.S Lewis' letters to fans, The Last Battle was the end of the Narnia series and that seven was a good number. He also said that Susan's story was more of a "grown up story" than he would like to write, but he encouraged fans to write their own ending for Susan. In my head, she definitely makes it back to Narnia in the end but her story is still so incredibly tragic it upset so much as a kid that I just pretended the last book didn't exist lol.

Fun facts for Prince Caspian: 1. The Narnians invading King Miraz Castle wasn't in the Original Book of Prince Caspian and created specifically for the film, which made this scene and the film slightly superior to the Book. 2. Prince Caspian in the Book was 13-14 years old instead of being in his mid-late 20's like in the film. In addition despite meeting Susan, they never had an interaction in the actual book. 3. The Telemarine Soldier who encountered Reepicheep, to which the latter responds _"You People had no Imagination."_ was one of the VFX artists for the film.🐭 4. Nikabrik is played by Warwick Davis who fans known him as Willow in the 1988 film of the same name and the Disney+ series (which you should check out for your future reaction), along with Wicket the Ewok in _Star Wars: Return of the Jedi_ and his supporting roles in the Harry Potter movies. Interestingly, Warrick also played Reepicheep and Glimfeather in the BBC Miniseries adaptations of _The Chronicles of Narnia._ 5. Trufflehunter the Badger is voiced by Ken Stott who played the dwarf Balin in _The Hobbit_ movies.🦡

Cair Paravel was the capital of the Kingdom of Narnia: a spectacular citadel and the abode of its kings and queens during Narnia's early years, located on a peninsula (later an island) on the Eastern Ocean. The castle that the kids lived in for the many years before they went back through the wardrobe and returned home. Yes time works differently in Narnia, Which explains why it’s in ruins when they return

So, it's in the books, but not the movies: Aslan is God. At the very least he creates several worlds that are interconnected to each other, and others, including Narnia. As that's when he himself actually sings it into existence, in the first book. A lion is just how he appears in Narnia's world.

As a long time fan of Narnia I loved the first movie best because it was the one that stayed true to the original material. Peter was the high king. He never was jealous of Caspians claim to the throne because in the grand scheme of things Peter will ALWAYS be the high king and every king after him defers to him. Aslan wouldn't have given him that title if he wasn't gonna be worthy of it. Also: after your done with the movies you should watch the old BBC versions of Narnia. Those are the ones I grew up with and they stay truer to the books.

One thing I will say about this movie that it is further away from the source material compared to the first film, which isn't to say it is a bad thing. But they did simplify a lot of scenes while amped up others to create a feeling that's more medieval than fantasy. Which was too early-- without going into spoilers though: while the disney trilogy for Chronicles of Narnia does end with the next movie, there is one more made by BCC adapting the 6th book that you should check out if you're interested in where Caspian's story goes all the way.

C.S. Lewis, the author, was a devout Christian and a friend of J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of Lord of the Rings; so the entire Chronicles of Narnia is an allegory of the Bible. Aslan represents Christ, the Son of God, and so when Aslan blesses the first man to speak as having a good life on Earth he has divine authority to make it true. The Christian symbology throughout Lewis' works is pretty clear once you learn his background.

I mean think about what it's like for them at the beginning. They grew up in Narnia. It was their home. They were kings and queens there. They lived a life there. And now, even though they're back in there other home, in England, they have to go back to being just four ordinary schoolchildren with everyone telling them what to do the whole time - imagine being treated like a child after you've been an actual monarch. Then they start being like children again. And then when they go back, first they have to convince everyone that they were the kings and queen that they were even though they're still children, and the world they knew has changed (their own castle, their home for at least ten years completely destroyed) and now they have to live up to being the legends that they'd become after a year of being schoolchildren again.

There are 7 Narnia books, but the 3-4 that are usually adapted into films are The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair. The BBC made tv serials of these in the late 1980s that I grew up with before these films came out and while those are more accurate to the books, this series captures the spirit of C.S. Lewis better. There have been rumors that The Magician's Nephew or The Horse and His Boy will be adapted, but nothing has been confirmed. The Horse and His Boy does apparently have a stage production. In the books, Edmund describes the war between the Narnians and Telmarines (who came from Telmar, an uncharted land far west of Narnia) as "worse than the Wars of the Roses," the Wars of the Roses being an inspiration for Game of Thrones. Prince Caspian X is the rightful heir, but after his wife gave birth to a son, Caspian's Uncle Lord Miraz (who is already King in the books) makes his move for the throne. In this story, Lucy seeing Aslan first and not being believed represents Mary Magdalene seeing the risen Lord Jesus outside the tomb and not being believed by the disciples until they see Jesus later. Therefore Lucy represents Mary Magdalene, Edmund represents Judas/sinners in general, Peter represents Simon-Peter (he'll do things later in the books that I will not spoil), and Susan represents those who lose their faith (again referring to things later in the books). C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were friends and fellow Inklings, an informal group of Oxford-educated authors whose works are the mark for high fantasy.

My biggest issue with this movie is the portrayal of Peter and Caspians relationship. They had no rivaly in the book. And that change make such a big change that is makes me not like this movie version 😅 They made changes for the first movie as well, but I could live with them, so I definitely prefere the first movie, although it's not as good as the BBC series, story vise. I know the effects there is bad, but I find the story more important 😉

There’s a BIT of LOTR-envy screenwriter embellishment in the movie: In the book, Caspian is 13, only too amazed/happy to let his legendary ancestors fight the battle for him, they race to the hideout and stay there until the big duel. The White Witch doesn’t reappear. There’s no castle attack. Miraz isn’t “evil”, just too villainously “boring” in trying to keep Narnia a conventional country, and freeing the River God lasted two paragraphs. But even this will seem book-faithful compared to the hash they make of Voyage of the Dawn Treader…. 😱

Reepicheep!!! Warwick Davis (dwarf Nikabrik with Trufflehunter) had the honor of playing Reepicheep in the 1989 BCC tv adaptation, so truly a Return to Narnia for him. Queen Susan as her faith and love for Narnia was gradually restored, so was her confidence with the bow. High King Peter relied on his skills the battles and not successful, but when he trusted again in Aslan (and listened to Lucy that she did see Aslan), he lead the Narnian triumphantly with the cry For Narnia, and For Aslan! King Edmund delivering the challenge to usurper Miraz was awesome. Love all three movies and our noble Reepicheep shall always be my hero. From Prince Caspian movie, received a keepsake thanks to the gentle kindness of one of the stars.

Sorry, but I can’t contain myself, so here goes another essay. 4:16 Hahaha about the afterlife after being in a train station... 4:37 That places is in New Zealand, it's called Cathedral Cove. Almost every single landscape you see in this movie, it's real. 4:47 There's no rule for the time in Narnia, really. They were out for a year, but when they go back, 1300 years have passed. But in the third movie, for example, only 3. 5:13 A painting, a door, through magic rings and ponds, and also by being inside a train, but that last one is a long story 🙂 6:21 Best swordsman in Narnia, even beats Peter. 6:42 Telmar is another country from the same universe. As well as three others called Calormen, Archenland and Ettinsmoor. But they invaded Narnia 100 years later after the Pevensie's were gone. 10:48 In the book, Aslan wakes Lucy up after they manage to come back from the wrong way. He tells her to follow him, and Lucy says that the others don't believe her, but Edmund. He responds, saying that she must try telling the others he is guiding them, but if they don't follow her, she must go on. The others can't see Aslan, even if he is in front of them. Edmund decides to follow her first and sees him shortly, then goes Peter, who decides to give it a try. Susan is the last one to follow because she doesn’t want to be left alone. But it takes her a while, alongside with Trumpking to see him. 13:07 Peter and Caspain's relationship in the books in WAAAY different. They are literally homies. But again, you need to but some spice to the audience, don't you? Plus, they meet with Caspian far later than here. They meet with him until the scene of the Withe Witch. Caspian couldn't leave the How because the telmarines were attacking it. He sent the others to search for the Pevensie's. 13:57 This castle raid never happens either 😂 20:49 Somehow, yeah! During the Golden Age, she mentions that she is running out of it, and Peter forbids her to use it unless it's extreamly necessary. But when they come back, it's filled again. 23:48 One of the many reasons why Edmund is my favorite character... Btw, this scene in the script was called "Edmund saves the day". They didn't realize the mistake they committed by doing that until Edmund's actor didn't let anyone forget it. 27:05 "You know, what's funny to me is that she just beat 10 of them here, all by herself. And then he comes and only kills one and gets all the credit." "What? Did you want me to fight invisible soldiers or something?" William Moseley (Peter) and Ben Barnes (Caspian) about this scene. 27:25 Now that you were narrating this, it reminded me that in the book, Edmund narrates all the duel to the army and it literally becomes a football match because of that 😂 28:23 Yup, you do. They found that out in the seventh book. 29:29 I mean, it's Disney after all 🙃 33:37 She is a 23-year-old stuck in a 10-year-old body (books). But I think in the movies, she is 12 by the second one. So that makes Edmund a 25-year-old in a 14-year-old body. Susan, a 27-year-old in a 16-year-old body and Peter, a 28-year-old in a 17 year-old-body. What happens too is that when they go back to Narnia, they don't really grow, but they gain all their strength and abilities they used to have before. 40:02 Ikr. 41:16 It's so funny, I can imagine poor Tilda living peacefully and one evening getting a call and just sighing after looking the phone number of the director on the screen😂 41:47 The book it's actually amazing, even better than the second one. But the movie... idk Thank you so much for reacting to this!! Glad that this franchise is finally coming out of the forgetting hole it was in.

6:34 6:58 I always find it so interesting when fantasy films/ shows like this find a way to suggest that magic was part of our real world history, but it either slowly faded away, or we lost access to it (like the Spiderwick Chronicles, Once Upon A Time, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Maleficent, Stardust, etc).

25:28 Susan was known as a great beauty when she grew up in Narnia when she was Queen. Shasta, the lead boy from the book 'The Horse and His Boy' (third chronologically, 5th published, set during the time when he four Pevensie children were the kings and queens of Narnia), thought she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, and one of the plot lines for the story is that the prince of a neighbouring country Calormen (which is where it gets a little murky because sadly 50s racism seeps through into the story, should be fixable with he right authors nowadays though if Netflix ever gets round to the adaptation it's promising), called Prince Rabadash, becomes obsessed with her (it's the 'girl meet a guy, he seems really charming and courteous, she starts to think 'maybe', then she sees what he's really like (in Rabadash's case through his habit of doing things like kicking servants and courtiers that annoy him) and now is too scared of him to want to be with him but is also scared about what he might do to her if she outright refuses him) to the degree that he's willing to wage war on Narnia for her - as he put it "I want her, I must have her, I shall die if I do not get her, false, proud black hearted daughter of dog that she is! I cannot sleep and my food has no savour and my eyes are darkened because of her beauty. I must have the barbarian queen" also calling her names like "my strayed bird" and "the false jade" and also saying "Let the skies fall! Let the earth gape! Let blood and fire obliterate the world! But be sure I will never desist till I have dragged to my palace by her hair the barbarian queen, the daughter of dogs the -" Though the romance between them was written for the movies and weren't in the books, I think we can all agree that Caspian is a much better suitor.

I think the first one is amazing due to it being so close to the book. This one is pretty good, despite not following the books that much, due to the story and great characters work. Now, my problem with the last one is they made too many changes to the book and, personally, I don't think it's a good movie in itself.

I love this move but I hated that they aged Prince Caspian up and made a love story between him and Susan! Also sort out hated the drama between the two guys!
