The first head coach in Syracuse Men's Lacrosse history technically never worked for the university. The second head coach once pretended to be a high schooler and learned about the sport as a sophomore. What they created seemingly by accident is nothing less than the most remarkable and fascinating program in all of college sports.

ah man i love this. i'm both honored that you'd want to tell a story in this style and impressed because i know how much work it takes. more importantly though, you clearly love telling this story. you do that and i'm all in, and i imagine a lot of other people are too. -jon

this is so surreal. thank you jon, for watching this, for the kind words, and for the inspiration. there were a lot of long nights in the production process, but i always stuck with it because i truly believe the story is worth it. i hope you get the chance to watch the rest of it sometime, in my opinion it only gets better from part one. tell jordan i said hi too.

@CJ_Macaulay When I saw the thumbnail for the video I was hoping it would be "Jon Bois Inspired" or something like that. Before I hit play I scrolled down and saw the pinned comment. I've only completed part one so far but phenomenal job so far. I originally found this documentary in my search for a NCAA team to call my own as I'm Canadian and didn't know who to select. Suffice to say you've helped me make my decision. Kudos for the nod to the history of the game, and I agree that the Haudenosaunee need to have their own team at the LA olympics! Excited to watch the rest. Thanks for the hard work of creating this

17 minutes in and I have a lot of comments: - The replication of Bois' arrangements and presentation is nearly spot-on, and I like how you give a more minimalistic take on it, de-emphasizing individual elements of a design to let them blend together into more visually eyecatching chunks. That being said, the way text lacks effective contrast & sometimes formatting can hurt this benefit; however as you and Bois are on completely different levels of experience you can write this off as a nitpick. - The approach to narration; dictation, syntax, sentence structure, pacing, enunciation...is basically what I'd imagine a "student of the Bois style" to use. Replacing your voice with his would make it virtually indistinguishable to most viewers unless they paid close attention. Impressive! - Audio balance is a bit off, though again this might be your artistic intent, letting the music take a backseat (mostly) instead of cradling the content. I don't know if "downtempo" is the right word to use here or not. - The mentions of the Native American origin of lacrosse seems to be a reference to the beginnings of the Atlanta Falcons doc, as it touches briefly on the game's original form there. This is really, really good stuff for a person's first foray into what I'm going to be calling "Boishaus" (portmanteau of "Bois" + "Bauhaus") from now on. If you can sustain this level of quality throughout the doc I'm sure it'll make Bois proud. Maybe you can even get a job offer at Secret Base / SB Nation if this gets really widespread attention? Heaven knows I'd love to work with him...

Not many people can genuinely rival Jon Bois in the "useless-sports-facts-told-over-soft-jazz" arena, but holy shit man. This video is amazing, and I'm sad it doesn't have more engagement. Best of luck to y'all, can't wait to watch the rest of the series!!!

As an ESF landscape architecture grad and cuse lacrosse fan, I found this super interesting. The American & Canadian cultural relationship and history with the Iroquois people is a tragic one and often overlooked. I'de encourage you to continue to explore these stories as you move forward in your timeline. Great work
