As someone who’s mum has had multiple psychotic episodes and acted similarly to how she did early on in the film (forgetting things, saying things that didn’t make sense) this really scared me.
My uncle was similar, but he was this way bc of drugs. He kind ok now but occasionally says strange things that make no sense, and he is homeless. He refuses to go to the hospital.
This really makes me wonder if short-form horror is the way to go. This just feels so much like a classic bedtime/campfire horror story come to life. But I feel like often horror movies can feel a bit weak because there is an hour of tension followed by a slight payoff. This shorter length of time made it feel much more intense and far less drawn out, and I was much more immersed than I normally am in horror movies. I love this
@@raam726 I agree, I did like VHS for that reason. Only the last one sucked ass. But the others where pretty good ! LUVED that story of that harpy woman or Succubus more like it.
Agreed. There are definitely some great full-length horror movies, but I feel like most of the genre is just one gimmick stretched over an hour and a half.
The mom's face when she switched was genuinely scary, and the story itself is fresh and original. This film has all the hallmarks of having been created by a sharp mind from start to finish - and it would be good to see what the visionary behind it could do with a full team, some good advice, and a decent budget,
Kathryn is an amazing actor ; has creepiness for days while conversely portraying the sweet, fragile and confused Mother. Nice touch with the subtle face alteration during the knife wielding scene Michael.
The dementia and alzheimer's she is suffering from is the real horror. I have seen people suffer severely from these diseases and it's truly heartbreaking
cripes that bit with her laughing in the dark and just the tiniest bit of light in her eyes. I don't care how old she is she scares the absolute shit out of me.
I've watched literally dozens of horror shorts on RU-vid in the past couple of days and this one was a real standout. Great usage of a scary true-to-life situation. The acting and creepy special effects were top notch stuff.
You see, this is a great short horror example. Short horror if done correctly has the same scare factor of a full length horror but in a much shorter time. You should be proud of this it's an amazing short horror
Actually the Chrysalis is a final stage through transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly being a Monarch butterfly, but with Adam!’s mother being encased in a Chrysalis of her own to form herself into a weird looking human butterfly? OMG.... creepy and insane!
People in the comments are already saying this, but the face of the Mom is one of the few things that really makes a 12 year old boy like me turn away in fear and genuine chills. Thanks to CoryxKenshin for making this popular, and thank this channel and this video for just existing. Every part of this film is so freaking good. It's scary, like LEGITIMATELY scary, its gross, its kind of suspenseful, it's what every horror film needs to be.
At first, I felt bad for her. But in second half, she scared the sh*t out of me. And that cello, violin, her stomping above the ceiling from my left to right earplugs were amazing, sound effects were magnificent. Greak work.
I just typed “short horror film”... Who’s coryxkenshin? I’m probably just living under a rock... Edit: yea...I live under a rock...wow...how...other ow-things...
This was amazing. I remember reading your stories on nosleep and now this. Such a big step and this clearly shows the talent and dedication. Sharing this all over social media! 😈
My sister has schizophrenia and has acted in a similar way of course without the demonic face and the supernatural additions but I mean it does get scary at times. She can turn on you in a second. It’s truly sad. Great job on this short film! It was terrifying
This deserves so much more recognition. You guys really did an amazing job, visually, it's such an incredible piece of artwork, but the progression of the story is also so well written...and it was just hella scary, phew..
This masterpiece is one of the best short horror films ever and it is the most scariest of them for sure! The first face to face between son and possessed mother at the corridor was scary as Hell!
somehow these scenes remind me the scenes of "IT" movie , where "bev" talking to the old woman , and unawares she appears as a monster and make "bev" run. any way that was awesome and joying.
I really loved this, there was a creepy vibe the entire time. Something about the way it was filmed was really unique, can't quite put my finger on it but it kept me engaged, no wasted time like in some other horror shorts.
Woah, this was really scary! Kudos to Mrs. Howell, she really rocked this like a boss! The short reminded me a tiny, tiny bit of "The taking of Deborah Logan" (mainly cause of the dmentia part), but to be perfectly honest: this was way scarier than the mentioned movie. Again, a deep bow to Kathryn G. Howell, fantastic acting!
Extremely well done and wonderfully well acted. Unlike many short horror movies, it had a proper plot and a rationale for the actions and events. Warm congratulations from India.
Came from the shogun himself Coryxkenshin, your work is amazing Mr. Micheal Squid, I had to come watch this video again and again, I’ve been ranting to my friends about you for hours now and finally convinced some of them to watch your content, keep it up man
I live above Micheal in the same building and now am afraid for the safety of myself and my dog. Well done buddy!!! Your editing of Momma gave me the goose bumps.
This was terrifying and the beginning of something horrendous for everyone. It was sad too, as Dementia is a very real debilitating and scary disease for all involved. Wonderful job on this short film, the cast was terrific, and so were the creepy SFX.
Holy crap! well done !!!!! That was the scariest thing I've seen in a long time. Great actors! - just brilliant !!! The writer and director really know how to tell a story !!! Fantastic. So refreshing to see such a well done short. Loved it !!
