Wayne May and the work of the mound people sure points the area of the BOM geography and so does the first hand accounts from the Prophet Joseph Smith! I do not believe Nephi [of 600BC] went to Central or South America to build a temple. Christ did go down there after his crucifixion to pull in the flock [other sheep] to the true Shepherd {Christ}.

We have filmed in over 20 states with Wayne May, and many others, seeing and documenting the evidences ourselves of Latter Day Prophecy being fulfilled only in a Heartland of America, because Isaiah and all the ancients prophesied so. There is NO OTHER nation fulfilling an End-Time scenario, besides the United States (as L. Tom Perry said as well as many other modern-day prophets), and Israel. I have been to Monte Alban, which is a cool site, but it most likely is NOT where Lehi/Nephi and the main Book of Mormon peoples lived from 600 BC to 425 AD. There are too many other reasons why no other country fulfills all the prophecies as does America with our Constitution.

@LatterDayChad So great. Cant wait to get the rest of the story of these Land of Many Waters/Land Northward/Mulek groups. I'm convinced a lot of these date to about 300-800 AD. And was influenced by several Old world groups that were continually trading with the new world. (some from Britain, some from Tunisia, Some from Byzantium. Its why the artwork looks so much like that found on medieval manuscripts. Kind of that almost cartoonish style. Also why the Decalogue stone in New Mexico has Byzantine Greek connections. Also why the Oklahoma and Wisconsin Viking rune stones exist (from about 800 AD). Also how words like 'adiou' and Pauline undertones got into the Book of Mormon.

The Book Of Mormon is the best evidence for The Book Of Mormon. The complexity written in one take, with no contradictions in geography or timelines, no mixing up names, even with some being almost identical. All written using Paleo Hebrew grammar, by someone fluent in Egyptian and Paleo Hebrew, or they could not have done wordplay on the meaning of character names in those languages. That the more Archeological and Historical research is done in the Middle East and Mesoamerica, the more it lines up with The Book Of Mormon narrative is just a bonus.

Brandon, you may be fooled by Wayne's enthusiasm to mistakenly believe that the Hopewell were any of the Nephites described in the Book of Mormon. The real question isn't whether we can draw conections between native American peoples and the Book of Mormon, it is whether a theory can withstand disconfirming evidence. That's the true test. How does Wayne's integrity hold up in that respect?

In 1822, Seneca Chief Red Jacket visited Palmyra, sharing insights into the culture, religious beliefs, and legends of his people. His father, Chief Handsome Lake, had experienced a visitation that bears an intriguing parallel to the story of the Three Nephites in the Book of Mormon. They also spoke of the appearance of the Son of the Great Spirit. This period aligns with Lucy Smith’s account of Joseph Smith telling captivating stories about Native Americans, as if he had lived among them. The Book of Mormon reflects elements of the Iroquois Confederacy, such as the burial of weapons to establish peace. Joseph’s creative mind may have woven these concepts into the Iroquois framework as he constructed Christian stories, believing they came to him by the gift and power of God-which could be seen as the imagination of mankind at work. As fascinating as the historical aspects of the text may be, they could be a distraction from the book’s main purpose: to testify of Jesus Christ. Why doesn’t the Church accept these interpretations presented by other scholars like Way? Because the Church knows where the Book of Mormon actually came from. They understand it’s not a historical record but contains history within its pages-a blend of Iroquois Confederacy frameworks, ancient legends, and 19th-century Protestant theology, woven together. The Book of Mormon could be seen as a work of historical fiction, with fictional characters inspired by the creative mind of Joseph Smith. He may have brought this text from his imagination into the physical realm-not only through his vision of gold plates but possibly by manufacturing physical plates, which he kept hidden from view. These plates could have served as a symbolic representation of what he saw in his mind’s eye. Just as Dumbo needed to believe in a magical feather to fly, members may feel they need to believe in the Book of Mormon as a historical record. However, just as Dumbo realized he could fly without the feather, members can still find belief and faith without the book being historically factual. The true power of the Book of Mormon lies in the meaning of its teachings and the way its principles bring people closer to God when applied in their lives. This is what ultimately makes the book "true." Critics can never attack a meaningful text, but they can always attack claims of a historical text.

You’re right no where does the Book of Mormon describe the Nephites building up massive earthen structures that cities are built upon or massive earthen burial mounds….oh wait it mentions that like a lot. I literally had an anti Mormon point that out to me and say Joseph smith was clearly intending the Book of Mormon to be about the mound builders because of those things in the Book of Mormon, Exodus also forbids building stone alters to sacrifice on which is why the hopewell have stone buildings but earthen and wooden worship places because they were following the law of Moses.

@@LatterDayChad If my statement is accurate, then your reasoning is flawed. Wayne May often demonstrates a strong tendency toward association and confirmation bias. @@Aristotle33no the Book of Mormon literally speaks of building up mounds of earth and there’s only one place on this continent we see that. They had cement as well and the Smithsonian themselves have found IRON chest plates and axes in mounds.
