Well put - this relationship is not pointing people to Christ; it’s pointing them to Caesar. By using the Church’s official stamp of approval, it’s causing spiritual confusion. I’ve seen this firsthand. I pray God will end this abomination soon.
The church OWNS and controls KSL and DN. The church is the board and director of Deseret management corporation which owns KSL and DN. Should the CEO sell McDonald’s because the food is bad for people? Active LDS are blind. They act like President Nelson somehow has nothing to do with what he has complete control over. Should the CEO of Pfizer distance himself from Pfizer because it has bad products? Think about this…
Great points. The messaging from the Church needs to be clear, uniform, and unequivocal. We are taught that confusion is the result of false teachings and of mingling the truth with the philosophies of men. Our test should be to choose between the Church and the world, not to choose between the Church’s messages.
Perhaps until/unless Church leadership plays an active role in editorial decisions or statements, Deseret News or KSL should have a bold statement at the top/beginning of each publication/episode with a statement along these lines: "Though this publication belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its editorial board is neither directed--nor perhaps even informed or influenced by--Church leadership, staff, doctrine or values." Though Deseret News is better than many other publications, it is of much lower value than it could and should be. It is true that most "journalists" and publishers are trained and reinforced in their biases that run counter to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel sick and sad that "our" newspapers or news stations are reinforcing anything other than reliable information. I suspect strongly that the various newspapers, television and radio stations are being held by the Church as investments, and held in reserves for a time or situation in which it will otherwise be very difficult to find reliable sources of truth, even "non-religious" truth. I worry that if we continue to wait for that supposed day, there will be very little value left in these resources.
In NZs Temple View closest chapel which is on a main highway a CV vax clinic was set up and used with much flag waving. Awake inhabitants got it pulled out after a few days. In our ordinance temple prep one CoOrdinator has repeatedly urged us to take CV, flu vx n wear masks to protect all. He has been away ill with Cv for 2 weeks at a time lately and weekly other times 😂
Many past LDS prophets, including Grant were very strongly outspoken against Communism and they knew FDR was one himself. On the contrary, they were not antagonistic toward the NZs in Germany during and before WW2. Had we followed the prophets and elected a President opposed to war in Europe, the world may have never known Communism and its worldwide spread, and the deaths of 100 million+.
And now, the Church itself is captured by Communists. So you could say that in a roundabout way, Utah membership itself is responsible for the V, for electing FDR. Elections have consequences.

He n his partner shamed them with a lecture on how wrong they were to be harming their families, themselves and the community with their illegal actions re Cv. That they were employed and had made an Oath to protect us not villify and harass us n our freedoms. Still handed over their guns which were locked away safely, unloaded and never ever used to confront anyone. This was one of many.
Jesus Christ has the final say, and it's not my place to "steady the ark"---but sometimes we can motivate the Lord's anointed to ask Him questions that they might not otherwise ask, and thereby receive answers that they might not otherwise receive.

Having progressive left positions is a feature...not a flaw...from Q15's perspective. I used to wonder when the church would "reign in" Romney...until I realized, he is their mouthpiece.
Very good points. I was also pondering this subject when an article about Tim Ballard meeting with President Ballard was taken down per request of the church. I agree that parting with these media resources would be the right choice to make. But certainly, there are benefits of keeping them that serve the corporate interest.
