the last sentence of the french version is "why do people need to see hell? Is it to appreciate more the paradise they live in?" Much better last reflection on this great movie and its themes than this english last sentence, which is very stupid in my opinion. Brad is right.
That is actually a nice musing. Though at the same time it is hard to beat the punch of “I wonder who the real cannibals are.” Both actually would make great tag lines for the movie.
I prefer "I wonder who the real Cannibals are" its more in line with the theme of the film, media sensationalizing horrific shit for ratings, the French version is more general, I think the real cannibal line has more punch.
@@stevepalpatine2828 Yeah, it feels more in common with the context of the time of mondo films and the bigger themes of how we use violence in society.
@@stevepalpatine2828 I think the line delivery really lets the punch down. "Cannibals" is pretty specific as well. Maybe 'I wonder who the real savages are' would have gotten the point across better?
I'm so glad someone has this. You wouldn't happen to have the Guyana: Cult of the Damned video would you? That's one of my favorite episodes and it's long since been lost on Brad's site.
The Dude I know it’s been a year but here ya go it’s Italian subtitled though but the audio is English ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZXoQkRqntP8.html
Found footage movies have a spoiler built into their basic premise. You know right from the start that everyone is going to die, because the footage has to be found. Otherwise, it's not a found footage movie. It's just a movie.
Shame on me for not knowing the name of the director until Snob made a joke in his 'Return to Sleepaway Camp' review about Alan's frogs praying they were in a Ruggero Deodato film. When I looked it up, I realized 'OH, 'Cannibal Holocaust', right...they killed the turtle':(
What's different about the uncut version? I remember seeing the dvd for Aftermath when I was like 12 years old in a shop 5 minutes walk from where I live. Not being old enough to buy it I think I skipped through the movie online but I don't remember much about it.
Tell me about it man I am grateful whoever posts the ones not on you tube. I am putting these to DVD for myself and not to sell I wouldn't do that to brad
I still haven't seen the actual movie and apparently the full movie is still on RU-vid. I'm honestly scared to see it even though I know it's highly recommend
do you also have his snob episode rugsuckers from mars? i know that's not the full title but since they aren't on his site anymore it's hard as fuck to find
Could it be? Could I be the first to post in a reposted video that will possibly be taken down.. again? And MRS Snob? Just how old is this video? and EXTINCTION RAPIST: coming to a theater near you. PS: i always felt that the white woman covered in mud (who gets the mud pie shoved up her.. um, hatch) was one of the documentary people they were looking for.
The animal cruelty in the film is appalling to be sure and Deodato (even by his own admission) took things way too far. But a lot of respected directors like Andrei Tarkovsky, Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Cimino, Werner Herzog, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and Sam Peckinpah also included unsimulated animal cruelty in their films so I feel like I can't entirely dismiss the film's artistic merit purely on that basis. I just see it as a product of a different era and a somewhat unique if unsavoury cinematic artifact.
