What the hell i thought i was watching a youtuber with millions of subs and views truns out a small creator with a lot of passion heart and soul that he puts into his videos made this masterpiece of a retrospective This video is amazing man keep going man!
The one thing I love about Spider Man is how each version is different from the other in there own ways. Everyone has there own pick on what Spidey they like the most, where that be the comic, movies, cartoons and even video games. Also I love seeing the diffrent takes on there world and the people they interact with. Everyone has there own unique vision and take on what they wanna do it and its just cool to see overall.
The Amazing series is the interpretation of comic accurate Spider-Man. He is perfect 70s Spider-Man to modern day. You should've given him more respect
Speaking of Spider-Man in movies, I'm happy that Miguel O'Hara is getting more limelight recently in the general audience's mind. You could argue that the entire "anyone can wear the mask" moral message of Spider-Man truly started with him. He was among the first, probably the very first, non-Peter Parker Spider-Man variant in comics (there was Japanese Spider-Man before him first in live action, but I'd argue that the general audience weren't really introduced to him until much later), all the way back in 1992, long before Miles ever came into the picture. He was inspired by the late Peter Parker of his timeline, to uphold the legacy of Spider-Man, but at the same time, be his own Spider-Man different from the original. It's just like how the readers are inspired by Spider-Man to be a better version of themselves in real life.
13:44 you had me in the first half, not gonna lie lol 💀 i was so confused for a minute there. Anyway, fantastic video! I always love a good Spidey essay/discussion with a thesis statement and everything haha. 🤟🏼🕸❤️ I also know how difficult/time consuming writing, organizing and editing videos like this can be... so I’m always impressed and excited to come across truly great ones! Awesome job. This appeared in my recommendations, so I think the algorithm has blessed you! Well deserved. I totally agree. There is no “perfect” live action Spider-Man, there is only your personal favorite interpretation of Spider-Man and what’s “perfect” to you. 🙏🏼 This is why having different iterations is a great thing and the toxic fandom infighting has gotta stop lol. Healthy “arguments” and discussion is fun, as we all have our own opinions, but a lot of fans take it too far way too often.
I agree, we all have our favorite versions of Spider-Man and our own thoughts of who represents Peter Parker and Spider-Man the most. Tobey's version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man will always be my favorite iteration of the character but I really appreciate and respect Tom's version and even find some redeeming qualities from Andrew's version.
I feel like with the role of Spider-man you could take the lesson from into the spider-verse of "Anyone can wear the mask" quite literally here. Toby, Andrew, and now Tom have all wore the mask and given us different spidey's. The thing is each on portray Spidey differently. For example: Toby was better at his more Nerdy side, Andrew could whip out one liners like a boss, and despite Tom's version being able to do both I felt like his version focused more on his family and friends and how much he cared for them. I think it's kinda neat when you think about it.
@@Gideon13397 well that's where people like us have to come in. We gotta show our fandom, Spidey or otherwise, in a good light while not ignoring the bad shadow it cast.
@@spider-man500 true but like I said in my comment above I think he makes up for it by giving us a spidey who actually cares about his friends, family, and loved ones. Seriously when his version of the "With great power" scene came up I could FEEL his sadness. When he saw the goblin you could feel his hatred. All the scenes with MJ and Ned felt a whole lot more real then they did in the other films too.
I just cant find myself enjoying any other Spider-Man movie other than the ones in the Raimi trilogy. No Way Home was amazing, but Im still watching the Raimi trilogy till this day and just feel way more excitement and goosebumps watching those movies. I saw No Way Home on the 16tb and after gerting home i just immediately popped in Spider-Man 1 2002
Same. Something about Ramis spiderman movies move me emotionally when I watch them. I haven’t had the same experience with the other two which isn’t to say they are bad, just that the old SM movies had a lot of heart.
Same here. While Tom's movies were fun and light hearted, they were so much to the point that I was actually bored. Thankfully, No Way Home definitely caught my interest, for multiple reasons. But Tobey's Spider-Man movies to this day still catches my interest. The best way to put it is that they did the character right. There was no need to be different for the sake of being different, or for personal agendas. Sam Raimi understood the character, what he truly is, and did it right, because Spider-Man is perfect as he is.
Great video, though I think the thumbnail isn't accurate; every version of Spider-Man has responsibilities, which is part of the characters' identity, so I think persistence, acceptance or sacrifice would have fit Tobeys' version better.
Same. His version is a great mix of pathos, lightheartedness, and humor that I haven't been able to get from any other live action Spidey. While it doesn't get everything right, I enjoy watching it the most out of the three. Plus he gets to play in the Avengers sandbox, and I'm just a sucker for the MCU.
@Calcium because ppl can have opinions? It's not that far fetched tbh, even if you prefer the raimi movies, in terms of pure charisma, tom easily reaches the heights of tobey maguire, hell even more
I loved the Sam raimi trilogy.Tasm 1 came out when I was only 5 I'm 15 now and I still can remember when I was so excited and happy to see Andrew Garfield as spiderman now we got an mcu one time flies so fast
Great vid! Now, I have a request. I'm not a fan of Superman(even though I love his villains), but you think you could do a retrospective on the Live-Action Superman actors? Thanks!
It's an amazingly done video. I've learned a lot if things off the history of the character in live action pre-Sam Riami. Also, you have highlighted the best of the three Spidermen and what their creators wanted to portray. Such a love letter to the character 💯🕷️
I still haven't seen the Spider-Man from the comic that I remember growing up reading being portrayed properly on the big screen yet. There was more edge to him as I recall. Maybe it's because I read the comics from the late 80s, early 90s and saw the animated show from the mid 90s
I agree I even felt that as a kid watching the original trilogy but I have still loved that and every subsequent live action portray I even get a kick out of Nicholas Hammond and Japanese Spider-Man
8:17 - I dont believe there no comment about pausing at this 😂 hahaha great job youtuber 🤣👍👍👍 - make your video playback speed at 0.25x and paused it on my minute mark . THANKS ME LATER 😌🤙
A very beautiful and well thought-out Spider-Man essay video. I loved how you define the three Spider-Men, although Tobey Maguire is still my favorite interpretation as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
I was born in 2005 but i remember my older brother showing me spider man 1&2 then 3 and he showed me ultimate spider man game i am grateful full for that and he showed me how to draw
@@nicolasvanced3137 His name was Stanley, but when he first started working in comics he didn't want to be associated with them, so he made the fake name os Stan Lee, which he later changed into his real name
It would have been cool to see Nicholas Hammond reprise his Spidey role. I love his bulky webshooters. Much like Ben Riley webshooters. Too bad Stan Lee didn't think much of the series at the time. But that is understandable. At least Japanese Spider-Man from the area continues on the look and some themes of the late 70's.
Tobey's spiderman is honestly spot on with the character. It just feels like spiderman in everyway. The way he thinks and acts is just like peter does in the comics earlier on. It's just so damn good. I think the other two fail, not counting nwh, because they dont represent the spiderman we love and go too far in their own direction with it. You can stray that far from the og material with spiderman.
? You do realise that tobey's interpretation isn't fully comic accurate, right? Im not saying that's a bad thing, but going by your logic, tobey's version is the standard for what all spider men should be, which is dumb af. They all play different versions and are all valid, and how tf does he act just like spider man? When he's in the suit, he barely shows any signs of cockiness or overconfidence and his quips are usually cringey af, meanwhile andrew and tom are near perfect in this regard
@@lm_slayer1 He's the closest to the 616 one is what i meant. He feels the most like spidey. Idk why you called me dumb when he is the standard of the movie spidermen.
@@cerebralassassin2185 not really? Andrew played the dickish peter perfectly in the ditko era of 616, and tom played the teenage version who got over his angst and started being nicer in general. Tobey doesn't feel like it, I hardly feel any emotion from him tbh, he's kinda stiff. And like I said, when he has the suit on, he's easily the least accurate of the 3 lmao. But again, that's not the point, Im not saying you're dumb, Im saying that it's dumb af to say the other versions "fail" at something they're not attempting to do. Hell, this is further evidenced by the fact that the MCU is literally canon to be earth 199999 in the comics, it's not meant to be 616
@@lm_slayer1 nope, Andrew played the Shitish version of character who is irresponsible unlike peter in every media he got Gwen killed, broke promise to captain Stacy, and what's the point of quipping when you allow Rhino to drive his truck over people. None of them is accurate to spider-man in comics but Maguire is close unlike lover boy Andrew who doesn't give a damn about his secret identity (see how he revealed it to Gwen) and iron man's bellboy Holland
Tobey is my Spider-Man! I was so happy to (spoiler) 🚨 see him in NWH & his villains. Loved all the call backs. I was the only one to laugh at Norman’s famous line. Had a long sleeve shirt of Spider-Man climbing a nameless building, it was my favorite shirt & the material was breathable
Just watched this video, nothing against you man but it’s really funny you were hyping up Tobey and still spelled his name (alongside Jon Watts) wrong LOL. I love the video.
I liked the first tasm film. I thought it was great despite its problems. Second one was messy and didn’t have a clear direction but have some really cool elements like visuals, action, swinging, acting, and quirky humour. I don’t have a bias against tasm. I thought they were good for what they were trying to be but suffered creatively due to studio meddling.
I am enjoying the new "Holland series" (even though the SM of my heart is Sam Raimi's) but one thing is for sure: Raimi could teach the MCU crew on how to mix practical and CGI in order to make the scene credible!
They is a Spiderman for everyone.Everyone now has a multiverse that they can identify with.Ones reality is far different from another person's reality.I prefer Toby spiderman.A man who wants to live a normal life. But has to make a tough choice when faced with the dark and grim world.Holland for me belongs to a fantasy world.A world were they is no war or darkness. Its more of a cartoon world he belongs too.All heroes have to have in my opinion a moment when they are alone.Garfield has potential. But Toby is a war veteran.
Um besides Civil War where there’s casualties, Peter loosing friends and family like Tony and Aunt May or Liz moving away because he stops the Vulture. He is the youngest but he doesn’t live in a fantasy world
@@michealmahmoud6391 yeah I don’t know what he meant by that either. They’re all superhero’s they’re all in a fantasy world lol. Dude came off as pretentious
I love Spider-Man! I prefer MCU Spider-Man! He is the perfect balence of Tobey and Andrew Spider-Men! He is surely trustworthy to save the people he loves and cares for! "With great power comes with great responsiblity!" as he says effectively! Spider-Man is my top #1 favorite hero!🤩💌
Can you make a video covering unused concepts from Spider-Man 3 and the cancelled Spider-Man 4 and maybe even the amazing Spider-Man movies I like your first 2 videos
I kinda disagree about what you said about The 70’s Amazing Spider-Man and here’s why. The series was MUCH more comic accurate than other live action marvel adaptations at the time. More so than The Incredible Hulk which has more fans. Their were some things right out of the comics, like the clone saga, it had a villain that used illusions like Mysterio. I also suspect that the henchmen from Strikes Back are adaptations of Ox and Fancy Dan. It had the Spider-tracker and a radioactive spider bite like Amazing Fantasy #15. I don’t think the pilot for the series was good (it was pretty trash honestly) But what came after was good. What sold me on Nicholas Hammonds portrayal of Peter Parker was his reason for being Spider-Man in Strikes Back. That he couldn’t live with himself having the power he does an not helping people, even if they never asked for his help. Not only that, I think Hammond as Spider-Man DID leave some kind of impact as Peter from Spider-Man TAS looks very similar to Nicholas Hammond.
YES! I AM PROUDLY AMONG THE THREE PEOPLE WHO LOVED REEVE CARNEY PETER PARKER. SHAME ME ALL YOU WANT I LOVE THAT GOD DAMN MUSICAL IT MADE ME WANT TO BE AN ACTOR. I WOULD NOT BE THE CLOVERPEGS I AM TODAY WITHOUT REEVE CARNEY SPIDER-MAN.
I could relate to him, but I always thought he was epic. Super smart, strong, always knows the right thing to say, a cool girlfriend. But life constantly throws obstacles in his way. Compare that to Clark Kent who is a simping clown. Or Bruce Wayne who is just a rich playboy.
If Tom Holland's Spider-Man were REALLY close to the comics then he would've had no problem getting out of all that rubble and concrete in that "come on, Spider-Man" scene.
What. An entire parking lot fell on the dude. Hell, spider man ps4 had identical looking amounts of rubble, even he struggled, you don't see anyone NOT saying that he's easily one of the best interpretations of the character lmao
spiderman is nothing like Tony. he's like captain ... he's a good man to the core.... that is what Tony sees in him , he is after all better then him .
Extremely unpopular opinion but I have always enjoyed the mark Webb movies more than the Sam Raimi trilogy, not anything wrong with Raimi's movies just the webb movies have always resonated more with me.
amazing video btw, but people don't seem to understand that it was intentional that Mark Webb's peter is a dick before he realizes the meaning of the responsibility. isn't that how spider-man is in the original comics? he doesn't become a hero when he puts on the suit, he becomes spider-man when he understands how he can use his powers for the greater good and in the amazing franchise, he understands it at this point 16:11 and after that, he becomes the hero we all know and love
