Impressive, gorgeous rendition of this classic song! When I served in Japan, I was impressed by the love that Japanese people had for American Golden Rock 'n Roll era hits and by the quality of the recordings (remastering) that Japanese radio industry were creating. Thank you for posting, Ciao, L
@@stevenmeyer9674 This song has been coved by many people , but original was Joni Mitchell Buffy Saint Marie was asked to put a new LP together with her songs the only song on the LP that was not hers was the Circle Game and that was the song they picked to release as a single at that time , which of course became a big hit for her , and I do agree i like her version better .
Now that I've heard it, I slightly prefer the Joni Mitchell original, but I do like everything about Nishida Hikaru, including her beautiful mezzo-soprano voice.
Agnes Chan copied Michell`s version but Nishida is close to Buffy Saint Marie`s version which I lke more because its expresses the message of song much better way.
Hikaru Nishida was born in Japan in 1972 but moved to Los Angeles, California with her family in 1973 when her father was transferred there by his electrical equipment firm. There, she attended Clairbourn School in San Gabriel. Nishida visited Japan during her summer and winter vacations. In 1985, Nishida's family moved back to Japan, where she attended the American School in Japan until her graduation in 1990. She then attended Sophia University and graduated in 1994, with a major in comparative history of Japan and China.
It;s very curious. She was brought up in California and normally sings with an American accent, but here she emphasizes her t's, English-style. I love her voice - mezzo-soprano?
