We have had our large clam since 2018 and love it. It has a small hole in the top that we need to repair but it has been awesome for us. We have sold our camper and are back to tent camping and I have decided that we are gonna try to put our tent inside the clam to have some added rain protection. It always rains on us and we never cancel our trips due to rain chances. Thanks for the review. We agree to the ease of this item and how wonderful it is. We have been in some great storms in this and it's still here. GO CLAM GO!!
You must get a better tent , hi use Eureka for 31 years, never got water going inside by the roof. Sometimes in storms situations got water from the floor in the corner not much.. Love the clam screen shelter ❤
This is about the best idea for an ez up type shelter I've ever seen. Been camping outside since I was a little boy back in the 1950's. I'm going to just see if I can fit this into my budget!
Great review. I agree with most of your results. We use ours 50-60 days a year, and set up/tear down about 2/3 of those. One weak spot is the grommet on the nylon at the center. This popped on ours, which allowed the fabric to separate from the spider. What's normally a 60 second setup became 30 minutes! I was able to fix it with a fender washer, and doubt it'll ever break again. Another 'weak spot is that the bag does not hold up if you are constantly loading/unloading it on concrete. I'll replace ours sometime this year (just wear and tear). If you only set it up on grass, this probably isn't an issue. Love the walls. We have 5 of them, and in spring/fall/rain, they make a huge difference!
Worth every penny. A Genius design. I'm working on getting a Bend Teardrop and was thinking 270 canopy. BTW, I came from Highway to Hofeland because they recommended the Clam. This video and the Clam changed my mind. Thank you.
We have the 9x9 Clam, and love it! Holds my Zero gravity chair, a GCI rocker and table, with plenty of room to spare. I put a larger outdoor carpet down for flooring.
@@adventuresofjandk My only complaint on the Venture, ideas that you have to order the wind panels separately, and only in packs of 2 or 3. Optimally, they should just offer a 4 pack, our in singles. I don't know of anyone using one on the entrance side. So we ordered a 3 pack a year ago, and just today a 2 pack. Now, we'll have an extra.
Looks great! For camping perfect. Obviously you have to bend down to get inside, but that is ok. Wouldn’t be ideal for a family reunion but definitely has its use! If I camped I would get one!
I just ordered the large pavilion size as it is the only Clam Quickset model that includes the attached wind screens. Excited to try it for two scheduled September camping trips in the Pacific Northwest. I’m hoping that it holds up to some rain. Looks cozy if we put Mr. Heater propane heater in it. You didn’t mention how well it did it rain or not in your demo and review. The demo and your review is very helpful!
@@jamessherman7797 thank you. We live in Oregon and really only use it in the winter when it’s raining and windy. Always been good for us. It’s too hot to use in summer. We’ve used our heater in it as well.
After watching your first video and several others I bought the 12 foot clam and the side panels. It works very well for my outside kitchen and is easy to set up and take down. It even fits in the Lance front storage. The only thing that I am looking for is some sort of floor to go in the unit. Thanks for the videos!
So good to hear - friends had one - several years ago and it seemed like a pain in the a…… to set up. This looked incredibly easy. It could have been our friends though 😂😂
Bonjour, great video, merci! Bought one this week, with 6 panels and rain roof. In the « take down instructions » page 6 they start by the walls, then pushing down one of the roof poles until it collapsed, so that way no need to jump.
I bought the CLAM based on this review (and your other one). I hate it. I received it today and followed the instructions and ended up getting it completely inside out. Support wanted me TO REMOVE EVERY SINGLE ROD, place the tent over the ladder and then reassemble the entire thing. They acted like this happens all the time and it wasn't a big deal (the tent is huge, there are tons of rods. It's a huge deal). On top of that the quality is questionable at best. I didn't have it long enough before i gave up and sent it back, but there was a lot of loose stiching on the tent and in the carrier so I am amazed yours has lasted so long. The only thing I can think of is they don't make them like they used to. I feel like I would be better off getting a cheaper chineese made one for less with the same quality. Anyone else looking at this based on this review, beware. It's not all rainbows.
@@bennetb01 so surprising. We love ours and have never had a real issue whatsoever. Always hat hearing about poor experiences based on our review. We are not sponsor anything so we just try to help others make informed decisions.
The offical Clam video shows them taking it down by pushing the sided in first and then reaching in from the outside of the tent to push down the center section. Your method seems to work well too.
Thank you for this video! Just curious, when you’ve set the tent up and are planning to enclose the picnic table, do you pick the tent up, walk it over and drop it over the picnic table, and is that easy for you to do? Or do you pick up the picnic table and move it into the tent? Thanks.
@@kathyandeddie4104 Hi Kathy. That is interesting we’ve never had an issue. In fact that is one thing we love about ours is how easy it is to get back into its case. Wish I could be more help but without being there I can’t tell you exactly what the issue may be.
We love our Clam.... however over the past few weeks we've had it in some bad weather the top collapses with any breeze. Has this happened to you? It's startling when you're just sitting and all of a sudden it just collapses in.
That is interesting. It has happened but in insanely strong winds when we really shouldn’t have had it up. Never a problem in light wind for us. Fingers crossed.
@cindydespard9295 we contacted Clam. They're sending us a new one under warranty. We don't want it but they won't do any kind of refund. We'll sell it once we get it. Way too much money for this thing!!
We just bought one of the 12 ft Clam tents this summer and it came with the wind flaps for all the sides. I wonder if that was something they changed from when you purchased yours?
Hi, I camped w my 9 foot clam, got some rain & got a bit wet & chilly.. I’m seeing that there’s a rain fly attachment one can buy separately… anyone tried this? How is it? Thanks! The Clam was an easy set up for my 12 yr old grandson & I.
@@marthaee yes we have them and they work great. Kim my wife worked out it for a week in a storm on the Oregon Coast with very little rain getting in only from the grass. Stayed warm with a small heater.
I am a solo female suv camper. Do you think I could back up to the shelter and have the Clam door fit over the suv hatch when it is open? I currently have a screen room tent that I can use but it has no rain flaps.
Hi Karen that is a fantastic question. I haven’t seen it done but would have to think it would work. You might check out their website and see if they show any pictures of something like that. Safe travels
That is a valid concern. We live in the NW and have had ours in some pretty rough weather including down pours and high winds. It’s very similar to a tent so can withstand probably about the same amount. We try and make sure we set it up with something providing a little wind buffering like our trailer or a tree. Never had any real issue but if you are pushing 25+ consistently then I would try and find another option.
So I first open mind yesterday. Everything was inside out I must have did something wrong😂 so it took me a few hours to get it straightened out 😂lol. I probably should have watched the video hahahahha❤
We just bought the 11.5 clam after using our brother-in-laws. His was awesome. So far so good but ours has a strong chemical smell. Hope it disappears......
I’ve had my Clam quickset pavilion for three seasons. The top nylon has become brittle and is splitting. I was hoping for more than three seasons for $ 450.00
@@adventuresofjandk I set it up at my campsite in early June and take it down Labor Day weekend.. I can’t find Cape Cod. We have occasional thunderstorms during the summer but nothing remarkable.
