So what are the chances that the self replication of clay crystals in the presence of RNA from meteorite impacts is what formed the original DNA that all life comes from? Did god really make us from clay?
@ZorroTomas94 clays can do lots of interesting things! Capture metals, capture organic molecules, expand & compress its structure, store water, harden concrete, be mixed with polymers to make relatively flexible materials, create aerogels, create fireproof materials, make extremely stable pigments, drug delivery systems, etc. I normally think in terms of the chemical structure of clays and what they can do at molecular scale but I think the fruit has many opportunities to do combos and crazy stuff either in synergy or antagony with other fruits.
Man I just love Prince Grus, his expression and aesthetic on is introduction panel. The way he makes the little Golem dripping from his fingers dance (at least that's what I want to believe). By far my most favourite character design recently revealed. Clay Fruit could be really something if Oda wants to go down that route, either way I just enjoy seeing Prince Grus appear :)
Hey tekking, I think a interesting video idea would be- devil fruits that counter other devil fruits Here are a few examples of fruit matchups prince grus-(clay) vs Oven-(heat) Perona-(negative)vs belo betty-(cheer) Mr.one(Dice) vs Shu-(rust)or kids-(magnet) corazon-(calm)vs apoo-(music) Blackbeard-(dark)vs kizaru-(light) What do you think? 🤔
Shiryu (clear) vs Kizaru (light) Shiryu’s ability is to turn invisible, turning invisible is when sunlight passes through you, that means kizaru’s lights have no effect while shiryu is invisible
Listening to the podcast once again after lifting weights. Lovely as always tekking. I actually hit a new personal record today as well. Squatted 85kg for the first time (187lbs)
Matt, how have you not thought about Crackers Biscuit Biscuit fruit? He creates his cracker soldiers who move autonomously, similar to the golems. The clay fruit seems to take heavy elements from that too.
The Clay-Clay fruit is definitely an awesome one! I can definitely see it being the "upgraded" version of the Wax-Wax fruit; just like the Island-Island fruit is the "upgraded" Stone-Stone fruit.
I've been waiting for YEARS for Oda to introduce this Devil Fruit idea to the story and I cant tell how happy I am that it's finally here! I was actually started to get little worried that Oda would skip it, but it just feels so obvious idea to use. This latest chapter truly was just a celebration for Devil Fruit-infodumping fans.
Speculation: What if Prince Grus is a Logia, the clay soldiers aren't golems but actual soldiers, and we just witnessed the first instance of awakened Logia?
I can see it if he wanted to make a play on clay men and God making man of clay or something thing similar to clay perhaps? It could be a Longshot but still pheasebly possible it would be cool though if that's how it did work.
I hope it's a Logia, but, either way, the Clay Fruit is just super cool. Love seeing Matt geek out over the new Fruits, new Fruit reveals can be so much fun.
it's gotta be a Paramecia. You don't see Ace or Sabo creating little flame dudes, or Kuzan doing the same with ice. Logia users can become the element, not imbue life with it.
@@ritacirocavalcante Greenbull literally creates trees though and he's a Logia. A clay Logia creating life makes complete sense considering the golem myth.
This ability is crazy, grus can pretty much create and manipulate an army of false logia users I wonder if haki would work on them, given that they are a product of the devil fruit but not the user itself? If not this power is super strong and versatile
I'd say they'd act similar to Crackers Golems/Soldiers. Haki will probably damage them more like normal attacks but they'll keep going until they're too badly damaged.
Not sure u might need to have a certain level of haki to just straight destroy them or just have enough haki to overwhelm the devil fruit ability itself since we know that's a thing now
as far as golem depictions in media go my favorite has to be from supernatural, i feel it has the perfect balance between fantasy and folklore/tradition
Biscuit had a similar thing, if I remember correctly. Making soldiers to fight for him. Doffy also made a clone. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a high mastery thing for DF users who made things like clay, wax, string, and biscuit. It would be cool if he could make an army of them, but it is a quality over quantity use for this place.
I love this because the fruit has just so many different uses like makes a army like soul soul or yami yami but has way more versatility in making soldiers
I believe there are currently more mythical zoans than logias (despite the manga saying they were more rare than logias). Imo I dislike mythical zoans cause they've just become too much of a "catch all" explanation for powers.
The thing with clay is that Fire Hardening clay requires a specific temperature depending on the composition. If you go too hot with the fire it will actually melt the clay down into a liquidified state. Another thing is you cannot seem to quick fire clay, if you try to heat the clay up to fast you will just get it to fall apart or as some artist call it explode so trying to use Oven to flash fire a golem would probably just cause it to explode. Also you can seemingly reuse fired clay and make it into a type of clay, though its not quiet the same its much stronger than normal clay. So in theory he could take a fired golem and break ti down and work it into this new material. If he could continue to use it the material wouldn't be as gloopy as it was and be a bit more vicious. If someone tried to cut it without great force their sword would likely stop an inch or two in. This might make it more like thick iron rich clay that can be quiet hard for someone to manipulate without adding a lot of water.
7:06 You don’t need to feel too bad about the golems and DF creating life. big mom has been creating life since whole cake arc , she literally made food that wanted to be eaten .
Workin’ with clay is like, my MAIN hobby and I LOVE this fruit so much, I actually can’t wait to learn about it and see what it’s full utility looks like!!!
I love this fruit easily making it definitely one I would eat & it also reminds of Cracker’s Bis-Bis Fruit where he can make soldiers out of biscuits - Also Magellan’s Doku Gumo / Venom Cloud is where he makes a could of venom takes the form of a spider since gumo means “spider”, but I understand when I first saw it I thought it was a jellyfish
I would love for tekking to do a series of videos abt the devil fruits of each faction, with each vid being like the beast pirates the marines etc I think you’d find great ideas for combo moves, common themes, etc
Remember the Return to Reverie fanfic where awakened logias could bring their elements to life? That was one of the most original fan ideas I’ve ever seen. Anyways that seems pretty apt here with the sentient golems.
Did anybody else try to turn on the closed captions just in case Matt got clever with that gag when he sent the narrative over to Barry in the intro? Ever since the Field incident, you just never really know.
Oda said, "I get it there was a lot of Zoans" and has given us 6 BB crew paramecia fruits, 1 BB crew zoan fruit, and Vegapunk's brain fruit. Right at the end of Wano we got Ryukugu's logia. Then you have the SWORD group that has 2 new fruits, whip and clay. So out of the 11 new fruits since the end of Wano only 1 was a Zoan. Its been very nice to see something "different" even though early OP was like all Paramecias. I may be forgetting a few in there since I am just writing this off the top of my head.
Hey Tekking, I feel like the Clay fruit is both a combination of both the Cracker fruit and the Wax fruit because the cracker fruit creates soldiers as well as constructs and the wax fruit constructs non-living objects and constructs as well.
Golem is my favorite Pokémon, since way back in '98. Prince Grus is quickly becoming my 2nd favorite Marine character. (#1 will always be Captain T-Bone)
About the Pokemon reference you were making with Golem, there is actually a big golem Pokemon… Golurk! also all of the Regis are inspired by golems as well, and most of them are big
My guess is that Pince Grus's ability with the golems works kinda like Morel's ability from HxH. Grus can probably produce more than 3 golems, but he would need to focus on controlling them better so they would have less autonomy. Plus the more golems Grus made, the weaker the golems would be and be permanently destroyed faster. Just my take on that ability 🙂
That would be a perfectly balanced devil fruit. If he's a paramecia then his df mastery is awesome but if he's a logia then he's probably closer to vice admirals in strength. Love this character having this fruit.
@@lorenzosullivan8679 if he's logia then wouldn't he basically gives logia property to the things he created. If that's the case then wouldn't he considered awakened logia. An awakened logia is definitely an admiral level
Hell yeahhh Tekking you gotta do a video on the Garps galaxy fist man mights as well do all of the Blackbeard pirate DF abilities and individual tobiroppo vids😁😁👌👌
It's about time Oda-san! I've been begging for an ability like this since Alabasta! I am curious if we'll ever see an actually canon metal fruit though? The closest we've got have all been non-canon in Bill's blast-furnace fruit, Tesoro's Gold, and technically Bullet's metal/machine assimilation fruit.
One thing I love about the fact all of Blackbeard's Captains have such overpowered Devil Fruits is that since it appears as though a few of them have no comparable skill outside of them it lends itself to situations exactly like this, like if Luffy lost the Nika Fruit temporarily he still has protag powered Haki to use instead, yet with Pizarro the only thing that could've made him such a menace is that while he's not like an ordinary person he's still so unnaturally strong that the Navy threw him in lvl 6 of Impel Down
A panel in chapter 561 shows elmy next to what looks like a golem, in the anime she is standing next to some big mummy dude. Elmy was hunted by weevil if the posters kizaru showed are to be belived, so we may have seen this fruit before or there is another fruit that can also create golems.
I wonder if Tekkings ever going to or already has made discussion videos about Rustages dnd campaign, or his own roulette roulette no mi. That'd be intresting!
Although I doubt One Piece would work this way, but water would also be a weakness to the clay fruit, similar to Crocodile’s sand fruit. Clay and any type of soil has something called Atterberg Limits, which basically classify how strong a soil can be and how much water the soil can take. If you put too much water into clay, the particles start to separate from each other and the entire structure falls apart.
Hey Tekking, a fun fact about Frankenstein's monster, it was at least partially inspired by someone who used electricity on dead bodies to make them move. There was a Sam O' Nella video on dead bodies and that was part of it. Just thought you'd be interested in that since you brought it up.
Likewise man I imagined this over a year ago myself although I envisioned it as a logia. I’m fine with it being a paramecia or maybe a special paramecia I think this application is cooler. Depending on how many golems you can make it can also be a superior version of the biscuit fruit
You should look at some pictures of Gus the Gopher Tortoise from Halifax. Little dude is about to turn 101 years old this summer, and he's cute as a button.
I like how plushie Berry eyes were looking at Tekking when he was reading his book. It was like Plushie Berry was saying "Are you serious right now?" haha
Karasu pretry much proves that the creation of autonomous or semiautonomous constructs is something any logia and possibly any paramecia (that produces stuff) can do with enough training and desire. Perhaps Grus' fruit gives him an edge at this, but theoretically even Enel or Akainu could replciate seemingly everything he does.
One thing that is certain in mainstream Shounen battle manga is that the next generation will surpass the old. Only One Piece fans don't want this to be true even tho it's happening right now
I'm curious as to what people think, If mat is right about the idea that the clay golem people are sentient, will they be able to use haki. If they are alive then they have a will with a will you have the possibility for unlocking haki.
I don’t think the golems are alive or even acting by themselves. Much more likely, I think, that he just has observation haki spec’d for a large area and is pretty good at multi tasking. Doffy did something similar with his string clone, only that was a copy of himself.
I just rewatch your one piece tcg video, you mention that you saw the best don krieg art, therefore you really need to see the set 3 super rare don krieg
since logia awakenings are speculated to be permanetly changing the environment or area, what if the body guards of Grus are real people but he turned them permanetly into clay due to his devil fruit awakening. ???
Golems in folklore were able to be fixed with clay, so it makes sense that they're able to fix themselves. And I don't know if fire would hurt them. If anything, I could see that creating protective armour around Golem, taking away some percentage of soft clay from golem, but also giving it higher defense. And I could see Gruz just replenishing missing clay.
if you think about it the golem fruit is almost an in-between step, the wax fruit being 1, the golem fruit being 2. and the 3 being the soul fruit big mom uses , from intimate creations to physical manipulation of earth to the manipulation of more conceptual or abstract forms. the golems remind me a lot of big moms homies while we don't yet know what the golem fruit can do it seems to be step below big moms soul fruit, clay and wax having a weakness to fire while the soul fruit harnesses fire in Prometheus seems poetic ,prince grunce uses golems similarly to homies, they are kind of an abstract upgrade to a golems
I think the reason the soldiers have as much autonomy and personality as they do is because they might also share. Bit of Grus' personality. We don't know enough to say for sure tho
With this recent chapter it makes me wonder, at this point in the story, even if you were to disregard the power from any hundreds of years, the world government has been in power and have had the Marines, with everything getting as volatile as it's getting, why isn't like basic Haki conjuring or whatever taught as a baseline for Marines? Like I know it takes time but that's the point, get them in and come up with some new regiment to make your baseline soldiers stronger
Some details about the story of the Golem of Prague that Tekking101 did not mention. The Rabbi that purportedly created the golem was Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel a real Rabbi from Prague. The way he brought the golem to life was by righting the Hebrew word for truth, emét (אֱמֶת), on the golem's head. In order to deactivate the golem, Rabbi Loew would remove the letter aleph (א) from the golem's head changing the word emét to mét (מֵת) which is the Hebrew word for death. Also the Golem was given the name Josef and was also called Yossele.
Makes me think of Biscuits fruit. When biscuit had one or few soldiers he talked from one. What if it is like that. If Prince has one or two then they can talk, but if he makes many then they lose control of individuality and they just do as they are told.
What if the deal with the golems is a quantity vs quality thing. Like if Prince makes one golem he can attribute a higher intelligence and level of sentience to it, and if he wants more golems, he ll need to split a pool of IQ points to each.
