The Cleckheaton Branch Part 1

Join us in part 1 of our walk along the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Cleckheaton Branch.
Opened in 1847 this part takes us from Mirfield on the Calder Valley Line to Liversedge.
We filmed this over 3 days in December 2023. Day 1 was sunny but breezy, day 2 was cold as a penguin's fridge with frost on the ground and day 3 it hammered it down with rain all day.
In part 2 we'll continue the walk from Liversedge to the junction with the Bradford to Halifax line at Low Moor.

Thank you for the walking tour today, John. I’m in a nursing home with ALS. I’ll never get back to the U.K., but your walking tours kind of fill that emptiness in my mind. God bless you and your channel, always look forward to them. Cheers John! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸

Love the names Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike...sounds like wooden slats being thrown down stairs. Liversedge is lovely and sludgy.

Also back in the 80s, my Dads best friend was the station master at Ravensthorpe. We used to go see him and watch all the trains. There was a power station there which is now gone.

I used to live in Balliffe Bridge in the late 80s, and remember the viaduct that got demolished near wyke. 'Pickle line' i think it was called, im sure years ago it joined into the Halifax Bradford line near Wyke Tunnel which leads to low moor. I also lived In Brighouse but never explored this area. Great video again! Thanks 😊
