Back in the day, I noticed a pinball machine where the match unit was stuck. If a game was going badly we would wait until our score was at the match number and tilt the game. This way we would get a match for a new game.

I love the sound of the bells. So sparkling, so clean….I like the chimes too but for me the bells are it. Years ago I had a Bowling Queen which also had the flipper switches right at the flipper buttons. These flippers were instantaneously responsive. Also, you just had to touch the flipper buttons and Bam, they worked great. This was a hack, but it was done properly with no hanging wires. I wouldn’t personally change a game like this, but it does have some practical benefits if it’s done right. Thanks for another very enjoyable series of vids Ronnie. 5 stars for yourself and Joe.

I get asked a lot why I like EMs. It drives me nuts that people don’t appreciate how these machines work and the intricacies of how they work on the inside. Any joker can program a computer machine. A man needs to understand what’s actually happening to bring one of these to life.

The computers they used for the Apollo moon landing were like a pinball machine. I suggest you look them up, really fascinating how they were able to do so much with so little. The programs were strored in "rope memory" really cool

This one is definitely interesting. Quite lively. Whomever designed it must have snickered a bit as it would seem that the playfield goes out of its way to guide the ball to the outlanes. Even the tops of the sling-shots are angled over to "help" guide the ball to the out lane.

oh boy there is a lot going on its just not where you can see it and its really cool. i would rather have one of these old machines then a new one you don't need a computer science degree to figure out how to fix them lol keep up the good work :D

I imagine the flipper wiring was modified that way is because one of the mechanical components involved failed. Unable to get replacement parts they had to relocate the switch to the button area just like other machines. They did both so they matched even though the other side worked fine.

That buzz is some relay armature not able to fully contact the coil core. There may be rust under the armature, or the relay may be bent so the armature does not rest flat on the core when relay is energized. Also check for the copper shading coil (the copper stamping set in the core slot) on the top of the relay coil. It may have become loose & fallen out. If you note it missing, hunt around in the machine bottom for it. If you can't find it, make a new one out of sheet copper (look at other relays & copy design). You can glue it back into place. better yet is to make it a little oversize & tap it in.

So we never did find out what all the hackery to the relays was about? Were they the #2B relay etc so they were changing all the great planning to turn on the roll overs and when lit lights? Not sure why you’d do they either. Always a fun watch

They for some reason just replaced the wiring powering up the coils on the playfield, the feature relays were still unhacked... I have no clue why they added all that wiring in, we hooked it back up original and everything worked, lol

That gray three-lead cable is used for the old wired remotes for jukeboxes. They probably used it because, hey, you don't want to use speaker wire!

That's a shielded microphone cable. The 3 pins of the microphone socket and the metal shield. What happened to the original wires that went through the loom to the Jones plugs ? Did they pull them out ?

Great video, as always,, but are the Vari-targets working. You hit em several times and nothing happened. Or it that they only work if you hit them dead on? Just seems off, somehow.
