I met my husband when I moved to the US from Canada. I was a new professional and all he saw were the dollar signs in his head and my personality that was very caring and empathic- just like my mother who did everything for my controlling father. From so much reading and from Andrew I learned that the Narcissist loves nice people who are caring. They tend to target caring women because they see us as people that will care for them. When you are raised by narcissists as parents I think it may normalize this abnormal behavior. But the most important message is none of this is our fault. They lie to get us to fall in love. So we all need to be kind to ourselves because for too many years we were abused by these monsters.

Yes, exactly how it happened to me, I had been saying something just isn't right, up pops narcissism on my phone. My mouth fell open This is what's been going on . Your gut tells you this is not normal, something major is going on. I got myself educated on it, and refused to tolerate it anymore.
1986 till now, 2023, 37 years. All this time I kept going through my head, what did I do wrong? now, listening to Andrew, I see exactly what I did wrong.....I met first husband at age 16, married at 18, kids by 20. He had me cut everyone and my family out of my life, he kept me at home, told me what to wear, etc. Each year I tried harder to make him happy. When he did abandon me and the kids, he had his new supply and moved in with her immediately. What I did wrong was spend too many years aching and hurting and blaming myself, I never married again. Now I am in the process of detaching from a brother who is a narcissist and turned himself into a transvestite and that's an entire story right there...but I recognize the behavior and have no problem walking away from the trauma he brings. My childhood trauma was 10 yrs of molestation by older brother....I thought I found my hero at age 16 ....Andrew has caused me to realize, I was a fly in a venus fly trap. It is so easy to spot and now walk away.

It always surprises me what doctors don't know. It's understandable because no one knows everything and there is different fields of medical science, but you would think they would know about antisocial personality disorder.

They don’t care about what is right or wrong and are not there to receive the adoration of the public. The Narcissist lives for the public’s approval. There are many differences. Also even if you learn about narcissists in school- they don’t really focus on the damage they do to their victims. Having married a narcissist for 25 years- there is no text book that could describe the abuse as seen by the victim.

People may forget your name but they will never forget how you made them feel. Turn this ability that we empaths have that not everyone has onto ourselves and love ourselves. When I first became involved with my ex-narc, he expressed concern that I would eventually leave. They know from experience that you will figure them out eventually and run for your life.
Fear of abandonment+paranoia+they are aware of their patterns but play the victim. notice how they make it an accusation. "YOU will leave me" instead of admitting that their own behaviour will make them leave them. If they did that, without properly understanding themselves due to no self reflection, they would lose you instantly, so they try their best to pretend to be a "normal" person for as long as they can until the cracks start to show. But I do wonder if it was properly understood and explained better than "you will leave me" whether it could be worked through together. Speaking as a covert(I think). I've definitely said and thought this to or about every person in my life. "They're going to leave or get fed up with me or find someone better eventually" it makes me hesitant to put in much effort to anything. Or that's just an excuse not to. Everything goes through a hypervigilance filter. What option hurts me less. I am now alone. Which honestly is best for everyone I think. The worst part is knowing it won't change even with awareness. It needed to be prevented. It can't be cured.

And I think it is like my subconscious trying to warn them and indirectly address that there's something wrong with me. But unable to actually say it. At the time I hadn't reflected enough and was playing the victim too much to be able to. Very interesting indeed. Like a self snitch. Like they are trying to say they're struggling and can't keep up the act of being a normal person. Perhaps it's the tiny amount of empathy I have trying to tell the other person to run now and not waste any more energy on me.
The narcissist, I know is a now 59yr old man. He has no job, no steady income, no credit cards, no bank account, no car and he lives in his old family house. The taxes are 3 yrs overdue and the water bill is over $2000. He still have the nerves to be mean, entitled, manipulative, inconsiderate, disrespectful and feels everyone owes him something. I have no idea what type of man this is. I feel sad for him that he's in life amongst people that he's so jealous of, yet he never wanna do anything to make his life better. I told him he needs to get close to God and humble himself.
The narcissist will start problems at your work, neighborhood, school, or even church. They smear your name and then never see the light that they believe they can take from others. Sickening 🤔❤🇺🇸
They really do want to tie you down. They’ll tell You they want to marry you and they will act PERFECT and be on their best behavior until you say “I do”. Once that ring is on your finger, THE MASK SLIPS. Run the other way, these people are awful!
My friend said it was on her honeymoon night that her man became mean, dropped all the love bombing and niceties. She asked him why he changed so quickly. His response was, ' I've got the papers on you now' She stayed in that abusive marriage for 10 years although she knew on her wedding night it was wrong. Since this was her 3rd marriage, she was embarrassed to quickly divorce. In the end, friends and family helped her ESCAPE the psychopath. It was a horrible ending.
Oooooh, I definitely got the lesson... I now have secure and healthy boundaries... at least I don't have to worry about being a narcissist because I am 100% transparent. I tend to overshare, but I have learned who is safe to share with, who can be trusted, and who can not. Unfortunately, for the narcissist, who thinks their secrets will never be exposed someday, they will... God sees everything.

@emilywilson7308 exactly 💯...I used to be afraid of people finding out about ALL my past mistakes, afraid of disapproval and rejection, but now I realize that some people are going to disapprove and reject others no matter what you do or don't do... we ALL make mistakes and everyone has a spotted past...some more spotted than others but I believe that if you desire to change your life for the better, putting your blemished past behind you, and are willing to be honest about it when asked, then you don't have to worry about being rejected or judged by your peers. Those that judge you are not the kinds of people you want in your life, if it becomes apparent that they will never stop judging you and holding your past over your head, whipping you with it like a club. The narc did that, but you no longer have to give them power over you. Which is why I put myself and ALL my truths, good, bad, and worst, out there, and I repented of ALL of the ugly sin in my life...things that I never in a million years thought I would ever do, but sometimes under the right conditions and during times of enormous stress, physical exhaustion, and grief over losing a parent, one can find themselves doing things that are out of character, regretfully so. But as long as you have a breath in your body, it's not too late to make necessary changes to your life. It's a very bizarre trait. It was mind boggling way back in my first year of college. Had a friend ( not a Narc), who'd repeat what said ,as if he thought of it, 20 min. later, then it became 10 min. later , then 5 min. ... I thought it was just an unusual thing, till I met a few Narcs. Only, they''d repeat what you said in different wording, maybe a day or more after. Worse yet, they forgot the source...Because in their minds, they've relegated you to insignificance. Don't share anything with them bastids.

Things he actually said: “I wasn’t faithful in my past relationships because I used to get bored easy.” He was entertained by me because “you’re one of the smartest I’ve met.” So he got a pretty big ego boost from playing me. Once he said something to try and Hoover me back. I told my good friend, and she told me it was a direct quote from a TV show she was watching. She recorded it and sent it to me. Mind boggled. There was NOTHING original about him. An empty individual who got his giggles from toying with actual people to discover how their feelings work.

Two were women who pretended to be friends. It amazes me how when they are zoned in on you, you meet them everywhere. When you call them out eventually, they are never to be seen again. You are feeding the narc more supply by texting with him. He is enjoying this oddly enough. It's better if you go no contact like Emily suggests because you will be cutting off supply. If you keep texting him he could turn it around and take you to court saying you are harassing him. Look out for yourself.

I held him off for the first 5 yrs..We knew each other in the 70's & hadn't seen each other in 40+ yrs.. When he started jumping he must have felt like he hit "paydirt" in the arena of attention and admiration! 😅 I have put out enough info to my "sky family" friends so they know what's going on. This has been very important to me! They've known (& loved me), far longer than him arriving on the scene. I've made it known to him that I will be at the local drop zone whenever I feel like it. His presence won't bother me....but mine might bother him!

Just recently got out of a narcissistic relationship and I felt like I was literally falling apart in regards to my mental health. Felt like she was a succubus.

So very happy that the monkeys, for the most part, are gone. Every once in awhile there is a fly-by and, unfortunately, my children have often unknowingly function as a flying monkey but over all, putting up a strong no/low contact stance has been a powerful shield. These people have incredible abilities to fool people. Being in the marriage you feel the effects but cannot pin point it because they are so good at the breadcrumbs to keep you trapped. Smh! We all appreciate these consistent videos especially during the holidays. There’s an older narcissist at my job that’s absolutely giving me hell and these videos give me a small reprieve. We barely interact and we’ve never had an argument yet he continues to create rumors about me and tries to destroy my career any chance he gets. My boss won’t pull us in to have a conversation to find a solution and he begs me not to go to HR but we’re running out of options. His desire for drama and chaos outweighs having a job
Yes although I think I'm a covert and I sleep for a long time. So I might just have traits. But I lived with a real one who slept for 3 hours a night. I agree that they do it to get supply. But also I've wondered if its a fear of accepting reality. What I mean is, "normal" people process things in their sleep. So I wonder if they are so committed to holding on to grudges or playing the victim or fantasy that they actively try to avoid processing things. They'd probably be nicer people if they had healthier routines and slept for longer. In fact I've witnessed it. But it didn't last long. They couldn't truly adopt the new routine as their own. They likely never intended to. They know best. Apparently lol.

My son had lunch with my nar mother. He's 18 and a new Marine. He said he needed a nap after a 2 hour lunch with her. She drained him. He and her other grandkids- my niece and nephews are her new sources of supply. Her usual complaint to my son was " I wish we could be a family again. Oh well....." 🙄 God, even writing that little bit felt draining. He's going to visit with her, my sisters (step sisters), brother in law and nephew right after Christmas. My husband and I aren't. I already know she's going to try to guilt him, talk about us and probably gaslight him. He's not confrontational. But he will speak up for himself and thank God he's driving himself so he can leave whenever he wants.

Yup, happened to me. We were awaiting our first son within 4 months. Later I found out that she was emotionally cheating on me with her ex. While our unborn son was just a little lump of dna.
The narcissist might not realize it especially when young and virile, but as time hits, they start losing the looks they fought so hard to maintain for getting supply.

I was hoovered 2 days ago by a malignant narcisist who I went NO CONTACT 24 years ago. 24 years...and I was lucky to have not been killed. Man oh man his time must be up. Drove up in front of my house as I was getting things out of my car and I was ready for him... after studying the narcissist for these past 24 years. I will say I was initially caught off guard but then my intuition kicked in. He spoke. I did not speak.I looked at him and then slowly turned and walked away into my house. Damn, that felt good!! There were many inconsequential items I was not allowed to have in the house- a pizza cutter, pinto beans, swiss cheese, apple juice, wooden or hardened synthetic cutting boards; too many to list....These folks are 'cuckoo for cocopuffs' but it really amounts to control. The easiest example is basically if you like something- then they don't or they have to be disagreeable as to your preference even though you didn't ask. I didn't like her eating ice cream while I was preparing us dinner. If I said something I was an 'asshole'. They get mad at a lot of things- and those things change on the daily- point being you have to remain on edge and walk on eggshells ALL THE TIME. If they pronounce that they love the color blue and you say 'yeah me too I love blue'- well get ready- they'll tell you the shade of blue you like 'isn't right'- only the shade they like is right. Then you say 'Oh I like that shade too', guess what- wrong again- cause you mispronounced the shade or you 'don't even know what you like and your an idiot' or ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON... My advice- run for the hills- they can't be saved- but you NOW have to learn to save yourself. This is the Healing Path. As Andrew says 'You're gonna have a mountain of work to do'- don't worry though- you're capable. The first step is to get the narc out of your life- only then- can you begin to heal and truly grow. Sad. But you put in your time on this person- we all did. Time to put time in on yourself. That's whay I've learned.@@Persiphon
Haha could be. Another possibility could be being overly sensitive to external sounds or just sounds that aren't caused by them or that they can't control. I.e builders in the house, people talking in a different room, laughter. I'm a covert I think, and I'm super sensitive to sound. A ticking clock would drive me insane lol.
Just a question for anyone who might know if I’m being paranoid about my ex narc girlfriend sending subtle signs that she still exists after a cruel discard about a year and two months ago. A few people who knew her have asked me if I have heard from her, I tell them I hope she’s happy and that I’ve moved on , also just recently she put out three WhatsApp status pictures, it just come up on my status bar, I wouldn’t look at her pics, am I just paranoid. Note , I haven’t seen her status come up for about a year, also just escaped another narcissistic relationship a month ago and she keeps saying she misses me but I just ignore it, I feel so gullible that I came into one of these relationships one after another, just glad I came across this channel also a good friend of mine, didn’t know about narcissism till about 3 months ago, keep going Andrew and thank you everyone 🙏🏻
Move the cam all you want to, Andrew! I'm listening to the words which are more important and the backgrounds add to the authenticity vs. a talk show-like set. I like that you mince no words in the descriptions of Narcissists and all the destruction they're capable of or have already done . There's darkness out in the world and I need to be reminded how I was once walking around in it. Makes me appreciate the light all the better!👍👁🌅
Very well described about how a narcissist is behaving. They are dangerous and many can be very charming but have absolutely no depth or care for anyone. Sad but true
A narssist is a dirty dog, you are a great person when they donot have a pot to piss in, they spend their time trying to piss up a rope, then when enough people supply them, and after otheirs have cosigned and lifted them up in life, they begin to say, That these people are not wirth my time, no not to viset, not to speak good of them to otheirs. Not to help otheirs unless something in it for me. They will speak ill of otheirs if you open door, yet the ones they hang with, often are cheats. Thives, drunks, abusers. Indifferance is becoming strong each day . Learning to keep my mouth shut is powerful. Mom was always shooting her mouth off, not good enfluence on my early years. In every instance a narssist will speakkill of your otheir narssist and then get in with them and kiss their cold asses. To destroy your connections, donnot let them, thats your choice.
Thanks Andrew for the videos, for the knowledge you share. It made me strong enough to withstand a Hover. It is exactly what you say, they never come back because of you as a person, or because they love you, or they have changed, they only come back because they need something from you, or if you should do something for them.
the narcissist in my life is next door. He is 81, and i've been doing errands for him, like cooking meals, ordering stuff on the computer, etc. I recently went no contact, but he contacted me during a power outage. He wanted me to help him pull out his generator and get it started. I didn't do it, and feel guilty, I know he would have used that meeting to lay into me. He has sons, he is not my responsibility.
Perfect- you know it's the "guilt horse," you've got to break in the saddle. Never mind the neighbor. If you fell and hurt yourself, he will not be there to help you one iota.
