Dooku’s whole thing is that he’s one of the best duelists in the Galaxy. Bitch beat Anakin and Obi-Wan like they were nothing, and held his own against Yoda - his own master and one of the few fighters better than him.
Uhhhhmmmm, I don't think Obi-Wan was a Jedi Master in Episode 2. He was a Jedi Knight but I don't think he was on the council at the time which would make him a Jedi Master.
"Dooku gets his ass whipped by Yoda" Dooku stalemating a 900+ year old Jedi Grandmaster is a very impressive feat. The fact he escaped without a scratch from three different opponents at his age is amazing.
That moment at 16:35...It's pretty much the whole motivation of Grievous...Before his transformation, Grievous was a Kaleesh general, very ruthless and a hero of his people. He went on conquest, but the Jedi Order stopped him, starting his hate of them, considering their force power as unfair advantage...He modify himself and chase them by pure spite...One of the only reason he works with Dooku is that they have the same goals and he can sorta provide him with more power and forces...Hell, his Magnaguard are suppose to replicate some of the strategy of his former army...Only thing i don't know is if Dooku also pay him personnally, to be able to command him this way...
I mean later on in the series he literally says that he couldn't care less about the actual politics of the war, at this point his only reason to keep living is to kill jedi. Grievous is on a suicide mission and he intends to take the entire jedi order with him.
Grievous has a sad story. He serves Dooku, somewhat out of loyalty, but mostly because it gives him the best opportunity at killing Jedi. Grievous might not be a Sith, but he is driven by revenge and hatred towards the Jedi. And, yes, Grievous is a tactical genious, which is why he is the Supreme Commander of the Droid Army. Unfortunately it is not shown too often in this series, but Grievous has his moments later on in the series.

Reminds me a lot of the Knight of the Old Republic story and why the Order refuse to help the Republic against the Mandalorian, it was too risky. War change people and perspectives, it created Revan and Malak and here, it will mold Anakin into what he will become...

16:55 Kit Fisto’s is a specialist in form 1 of lightsaber combat. Those that specialize then this form are able to duel multiple opponents at one. So Fisto’s fighting style is a counter to Grievous.
Also Fisto and Obi-Wan have learned to stay calm in battle, which is why they’re not effected by Grievous’ usual tactic of intimidation and non-stop attacking that throws most Jedi off in combat.
Not only that but form 1 also incorporates random unpredictable strikes that don’t follow any pattern. Which is also a perfect counter to grievous. What made grievous so effective is his cybernetics. He could strike several times in a second and when you multiply that by 4 lightsabers it made him a formidable foe, not only that but his cybernetics allowed him to analyze an opponent’s form and counter it by using their form to predict their next attack and immediately counter it. But form one had a lot of random, unpredictable strikes which gave his cybernetics trouble and gave fisto the advantage. If it weren’t for his magna guards coming in fisto likely would have beaten grievous which is one of many reasons as to why he is my favorite Star Wars character.

A quick way to explain Grievous warrior past. His people were at war with another race that enslaved his people and the slavers played as the victim so that the jedi can help them against Grievous people. Dooku or Sidious sabotaged Grievous ship and found him barely alive and blamed the Jedi. He then asked Grievous to join him to fight the Jedi for revenge and he’s now the way he is. That’s why he hates Jedi so much. I might’ve gotten some things wrong tho idk
Dude voicing Kit Fisto is Phil Lamar you will recognize him as being shot in the face in Pulp Fiction, also voicing John Stewart Green Lantern from Justice League cartoon and Samurai Jack among many other voices ( also Mad TV ).
tldr, Grievous saved his people from genocide in a war that the Republic ignored, then as soon as he started to win the war the Jedi intervened and fucked over him and his people.
Its a bit sad to see the number of people watching slowly decreasing. Season 1 isn't very good but I seriously believe they'd all be watching if they just powered through it until season 2 and beyond.
If they did two episodes per week like people suggested, it would increase hype over certain arcs. People are tuning out because it's taking forever for the better arcs.
Honestly I think people bash on season 1 too much, it's not like it's unwatchable or something and it's not like I have emotional attachment to this show either since i only fully watched a star wars movie mid 2019.

Also, because of the war, and the lack of Jedi to fight, Jedi padawans were forced into battle at a young age. Many of them died in the war. The horrors of war also convinced many to turn closer and closer to the dark side of the force, causing internal conflict that weakened their connection to the force, making them more easily defeated in battle. Ahsoka is one of the many Jedi children forced into war before they became masters.
Grevious takes orders from Duku because he has to at this point, hes a galactically known separatist general and war criminal, so either he works for Duku, or he becomes an enemy of both sides. Also Duku very easily could kill kit fisto in a 1v1 duel

Nah Chris. Dooku kicks ass. Very few Jedi Masters could even hold a candle to him. Yoda, Mace Windu, and Anakin being the only three Jedi capable of defeating him. There's a 50/50 chance that Plo Koon could beat him too.
Grievous' race is called Kaleesh, he was a famous warlord of his people who hated the Jedi but knew he could never match up against them. He altered his body with cybernetics repeatedly in an attempt to become the ultimate fighter and help him defeat Jedi.
Grievous has „reasons to be evil“, at least if (parts of) his backstory from legends made it into Disney‘s canon... He and his people were drawn into a conflict by another species decades in the past! That other species ran to the Republic and presented them as the aggressors... the already flawed and corrupt Republic commanded the Jedi to take the matter into their hands! During these events, Grievous lost most of his people, including ALL his loved ones You see, it’s clearly a Classic personal Vendetta backstory
@@AustinB96 in legends he certainly was, he was the only jedi to ever beat yoda in a sparring session, but that isn't canon anymore so I guess it's just speculation of him being that good. Would be cool to see some more scenes of him in the future!
Grievous is one of the most tragic characters in Star Wars, brainwashed by Dooku and Palpatine into thinking the Jedi destroyed his people, and torn apart piece by piece, turned from honorable warrior, to almost all machine. He was Vader before Vader.
8:26 "You try winning a war with these AAA battery operated droids" He’s always fighting superior opponents. He has to compesate with cheap tricks to hold his own against space wizards. He has to outsmart all of his opponents because the soldiers under his command can’t solve problems by themselves. There’s actually a (canon) storyline where Grievous' tactical abilities shine. The enemy army is far superior to anything he has available so he gambles on outsmarting his opponent. He grabs every single droid available, puts them into the first wave and fights the enemy leader in single combat. During their battle he convinces him of his endless armies and reinforcements being about to arrive. He later admits to Dooku that he’d almost run out of droids when the enemy bought his bluff and retreated.
the warriors in the lair at the beginning is paying homage to Grievous’ native people the Kaleesh which were warriors. Grievous was transformed into the cyborg monstrosity we know and love because of the separatist but was promised revenge on the republic and jedi for the mistreatment of his people
Probably late but: Grievous only works for Dooku because Dooku gives him the necessary Power to Kill Jedi. Grievous hates the Jedi because: Grievous was a powerful and skilled Kaleesh Warrior, the Bank-Clan then hired him to be their Tax-Collector using his frightening reputation. Dooku however wanted more use of Grievous and placed a Bomb in Grievous ship which blew up almost killing grievous and leaving his body brutally mangled. The Bank-Clan then used the little that was left of him and built it into a Cyborg. Dooku told Grievous the Jedi had planted the Bomb, so he swore to get revenge.
Watching this series makes me sad & annoyed at how they did Grievous. He's supposed to be like the most ruthless and deadly Jedi killer in the Galaxy, only like Obi-Wan & Yoda stood a chance at beating him. So seeing him not really live up to that in this show hurts. The 2003 Clone Wars shows him how he should have been, and makes him terrifying.
Dooku, Sidious and the Separatists are literally the only way Grievous will get his revenge on the Jedi... which causes him to serve them! Destroying the Jedi is the only thing left in his life he really cares for, so no matter what his „allies“ do, even to him, he‘s totally in... And „testing“ Grievous again and again is really a Sith thing... Sidious did this with Maul AND Dooku, Dooku does this with Grievous AND Ventress... it guarantees the best make it and are worthy of being their students/main tools
The droids with the red eyes and purple energy staffs are one of Grievous's early concept designs in ROTS but they were so liked they were made into a droid rank
At first the Confederates have the upper hand at most fronts and overwhelm the Republic. Only a few extremely flexibile Jedi Generals like Anakin and Obi-Wan manage to pull of consistent victories against the droid armies. Later in the war, The Republic have better tactics, better technology and are able to push back the Separatists and slowly over time turning the tide on all major fronts. This essentially renders the entire Separatist war effort pointless since they are trying to overwhelm the Republic in order for them to aknowledge their legitimacy and independence. When the Seppies can't hurt the Republic by throwing everything at them, they get desperate hence the attacks Anaxxes, Coruscant which all fail too... and as the Separatist leadership is killed the Separatist war effort basically collapsed.
It's true it's wierd to think Grievous is the greatest general and the main commander of the whole seperatists army in the galaxy. But we have to remember many or the only times we see him be defeated in battle is by Anakin skywalker and Obi wan who were both themself the greatest generals during the clone wars for the republic side. Then also Anakin being the most powerfull Jedi as the chosen one and obi wan as we know being one of greatest duelist and powerfull in the force himself. As Grievous was like the greatest Jedi killer in the galaxy or atleast top 3, before Darth Vader. As he killed probably like 50-60 jedis
grevious doesn't care about duku or the sith he doesn't care about the separatists or the republic all he wants is to kill jedi, duku is his best chance to do that!
General Grievous is basically space Robocop.... It was a great Warrior of the Kaleesh, But part of the gigantic screw you that was done to him is that the cyborg body he holds is shaped like that of his greatest species enemy.... No it was not done to him by choice. He did volunteer for the sideboard upgrade but what they did to him during the process he did not consent to.
Grievous obviously has flesh beneath the mask... what else would hold his natural eyes in its place? Besides, in the movies, you can clearly see flesh beneath the eyes, and I think this is the reason they cut in this episode when the mask got removed... raw flesh would be a little bit savage visually for a kids show! Besides, an adults phantasy with all the clues is totally capable of envision it for himself 😉
if you like Grievous watch his apparition in the 2003 clone wars, also the prequel movies are still meh, it's the clone wars what makes everything cool
