Onboard the UK railtours "Coastway Crawler" charter train operated by top and tail class 73 locomotives. This video includes parts of the journey between London & Littlehampton. (I couldn't film all of it because the windows were occupied.)
Leaving London Victoria at 8:48 we headed firstly towards Hastings where the set then turned back and along the coast towards Eastbourne. Where again is turned back and headed further along the coast to Brighton. After a short break at Brighton we boarded again to head back past Lewes towards Newhaven to Newhaven Marine the station of which is no longer open and isn't served by passenger trains. At Newhaven Marine, again, we turned back passing Lewes for the third time and back into Brighton. After another short break in Brighton we headed to Preston Park where (you guessed it...) we turned around again. This time to head towards Hove and Worthing and onto the Littlehampton.
I did manage to get a window right behind the locomotive for the second departure from Brighton, which was great under the power of diesel!
*For those of you who don't know the class 73 locomotive is quite unique in that it can run on third rail electric power or under its own diesel power.
This video includes bits of both. You can see some great arching from 73201 on the way out of Hastings as well as the diesel power thrash out of Brighton! :)
Over all a great day out, lots of new routes I've never covered and my first time under the haulage of a class 73!
Thanks for watching!
