A communal operating system approach. Now if we could only figure out how to construct a political system in this way. There always seems to be a struggle about which takes priority, the socially minded person, or the socially geared system. I think Linus is correct that it is the former. I think it's part of the natural progression of societies that people come together as social animals. But as the exploiters move in, they try to shift responsibility and accolades from society because they are exploiting its members and want to disguise it. If they don't, the members will organize and limit their gains. So they try to generate a narrative that prevents unity among the members such as promoting individualism and self-reliance. Over time, if they're successful it becomes a part of culture. Such a culture disintegrates the foundation society was born from. I think this is the cycle that dead civilizations follow.
Being an individualist somehow equivocates to cooperation being a myth....guess you've never heard of a contract before? The reason software can be akin to socialism is due to the fact that software is nigh infinite in it's scarcity, basically has none as long as electricity exist. The real world meanwhile does not work the same, this is...pretty surface level analysis here.
