That actually sounds like a really feasible idea. Steampunk gets a reliable (but sometimes small crowd), nostalgia junkies abound, and bands would likely participate for free or cheap since the advertising potential would be obvious. Parents also want kid shows that are better for kids than a lot of the dreck out there. Animation is cheaper than ever if you want to go with a cartoony style. You would just need it to written well and you see good independent creators who can certainly produce family-friendly content. I don't know how hard it is to get a license but I definitely see a good business possibility there.

What if Inspector Gadget's transformations were portrayed as something akin to body horror?

I remember when Gadget just whooped TWO adult lions and threw them out of the window with no care at all. More of that would be nice, and for them to finally reveal that Dr Claw was the real Gadget all along!

Deadpan style, like Leslie Nielsen would work well. Inspector Gadget portrayed as a serious character who at no point acknowledges the absurdity of anything. Just like Frank Drebin.

@@GorTesK Here in Spain we just got the original French lyrics, which is rather odd because most other cartoons of the time got fully voiced lyrics even when the original show didn't have any, like the Sherlock Holmes cartoon. P.S.: Apperently, the *was* a Spanish version of the lyrics, but I never saw it as a kid. Maybe they were only shown in Latin Amercia or something.

While I like the idea, it completely defeats the slapstick comedy of the show's premise. What would be funnier is a series of fruit heists, making Gadget think back to how he had to be turned into a Cyborg. Done right, even something as tragic as that can be hilarious.
