Many of the songs have names for main characters. In the last album "Songs of the People" every song feature's the main character's name! ^_^

It's a Photoshop montage made with a combination of AI generated elements, stock photos, and a photo of my friend's face for the character. I strive to avoid solely using generated images since there's no personal artistry involved, and instead have been trying to use it as a tool in creating the final artwork. Though my feelings on AI are really mixed and seem to become more negative with time. A lot of the images I've made recently have been exploring new technology as a creative tool as it continues to develops but it should never take the place of real human creativity.

@@thecogisdead I personally have moral objections to the use of AI, due to the unethical practices used in training most popular models, and the implications the technology has for artists as a whole. I have to admit that I'm a little confused about what your stance on the topic is, given that as far as I can tell you made a song that seemed extremely critical of AI at the same time that you started using it in your own work. I'm not trying to accuse you of anything, I understand that art is expensive and time-consuming, and that the artwork isn't the main focus of your videos. Your songs are fantastic, and helping a talented and appallingly underrated musician get more traction is definitely one of the best uses of the technology that I've seen so far.

@@PyrandersI have VERY mixed feelings, especially as an artist. When I first discovered AI art generations last year I was extremely excited about all the possibilities it opened up, and I've always been a person who loves to keep up with the latest technology for art and music production. It wasn't until I had been using it for a while that I heard the negative reactions from artists. For a while I always thought of AI generated art as being no different from the way a human artist in influenced by the art they see that inspires what they make... but the more I hear about the ethical issues the more it bothers me. As you mentioned, with The Cog is Dead the music is the primary art, and I also have drawn or designed the artwork for all of our releases prior to the existence of AI images. I never use AI to write my songs, and never plan to. AI image generation seemed like a great tool to create accompanying images to go along with the songs, but the more I learn about it and see how AI is negatively affecting all creative jobs it bothers me more and more. I'm also a little torn because AI is quickly being incorporated into EVERYTHING now and even if we don't use it in connection with art, we'll have to use (and in many cases already ARE) every day. I have a lot of mixed feelings on it, and as much as I would like to resist it, I also know it's sadly inevitably going to be everywhere. A.I. Stole My Life was written both out of concern for AI taking over everything, but also as a bit of a tongue-in-cheek satire... but every day it's looking more and more like we're heading toward the satirical future in that song. Anyway, I'm still learning how to navigate as the world changes rapidly, and I have a feeling I'll continue to adjust my use of AI since I want to do so in an ethical way. I'm a strong supporter of independent artists and every day AI is becoming more of a threat to our livelihoods. AI can now write and produce fully finished songs in seconds. And I'm also a voice actor, and part time film maker, and AI voice over / voice cloning and AI generated video are a threat to that profession as well. Haha, like I said, my feelings toward AI are mixed, but becoming a bit more negative each day. I'm just trying to make my way though and figure things out as this all unfolds. I appreciate your concerns and feelings, it's given me a bit more to think about. Thanks so much for listening to the music! I put so much of my time and passion into writing and producing each song and it means a lot! Hopefully there will still be a place for us human creators as the robots continue to take over everything. 😓
