i dont understand why people still expecting a great 4 star character from mihoyo. Forget it, character like XQ, XL, sucrose, fischl and bennett is a mistake that mihoyo will never repeat.
@@agidokiyt2164 Kuki is great but she is niche, only being optimal as a Healer/Hyperbloom triggerer. she's very similar to Gorou and Yunjin, for example, who're great characters in their niche, they're just not as versatile as XQ, XL, Benny, Fish or Sucrose.
Why are those 4 stars even a mistake in the first place? For being broken?? For a game that focuses on single player PVE, i dont see the wrong in making new cracked 4 stars that arent niche. Powercreep? Its only a you problem if you care too much about your favorite character getting powercreeped to oblivion Plus, powercreep doesnt matter cuz u can clear the game even with the shittiest characters to ever exist
I just got her and saw the namecard it's so pretty! Definitely going to keep using her plus I love her design as well and the sound effects from her skill

i honestly love her playstyle and character design so much. I am really glad there is finally a new useful 4 star lol so i will definetely be using layla. She looks pretty op for a 4 star

I think it was interesting how much I saw players hyping her up to be an amazing character but I always thought she’d be like a cryo Thoma but with a bit better utility (artifact synergy, reliable shielding) but minus dps potential (burgeon, overload) but I don’t think she’s bad at what she’s meant to do which is shield, apply cryo, and buff with tenacity.
Tbh i only build and play candace and layla not for their damage but for their design especially layla she looks so damn cool as a 4* i dont care how little damage she puts out as long as i can enjoy playing with her thats what matters to me
Throughout the entire video I kept tingking, maybe Layla will be good with Razor because Layla can provide two things, shield and cryo aplication, which is exactly what Razor want. Anyway, this is just a thougt, I haven't pull her yet, so it may not be true
I have a hard time seeing people saying she is really good earlier or why people like her a lot..... After she came out... All she really have is good shield and some what off field cyro applier to single target. Also a bit support buff.
Another flawless design by HoYoverse. Love to see it, man. I love how GI is the only game on earth that actually regresses instead of progressing forward. We would expect that by now things would be tougher but things seem to get easier and easier as well as newer characters are becoming a lesser version of existing chars.
What Mihoyo says nowadays is "Pull for whoever you like, I promise you the game is easy so you don't need to sacrifice your work time. We won't release any broken character. We found a better way of selling anyway (animations and design department go brrrrr, gameplay department : 😑). Definitely we don't want to give players anxiety."

man .. i want layla but i cant afford to pull on theses banner beacuse i want itto and he is guaranteed with 35 pity. i cant take risk of getting any other 5 star character besides itto because i dont have many primos . man thia is true pain . and i need a shielder for itto team too .😭😭
Mihoyoverse on their way to release yet another post 2.0 4 star thats niche or ass From current 3.3 beta, Faruzan got nerfed because she was better than scaramouche at some point, so they absolutely nuked her energy regen with particles and now she’s turning out to be worse. Oh, and Scara got buffed because CN players in the beta complained on a CN forum.
So question: I have no favonius sword sadly, but I do have 2 sacrificial swords. The other is for Xingqiu. Would that sword be a good substitute if I just want to build her as a shielder?
You should refine that sac sword instead. You can use the green 3 star ER sword I forgot the name and switch it to favonious sword when you finally get it.
Numbers aside, I adore her. Her shield is perma uptime as it stands and is beefy. She provides the cryo team passive of 15% increased crit in combination with others where zhongli does not. She provides areguably the easiest cryo application of all cryo's without being on field as well. With the summons I got today, I also managed to grab up a C2 jean and was gonna make a comp with Eula, jean, layla and shogun to make it a high powered physical team and see how it works. I don't play for "the best" kind of builds but I feel this was an awesomely designed 4 star. Good shield characters are great to have. And the easier to gear the better really. I feel these kinds of videos are good to have for the math and efficiency nutjobs out there, but I honestly love layla's design and skillset, so i'm gonna find a good way to use her :3
I am convinced we wont get national lvl 4* characters anymore. Everyone will be niche and will be having an intended purpose instead of the flexibility the earlier 4* heroes offer. Pretty meh but at this point, after playing for 2 years, anything new is welcome.
I don't think Layla is niche but the majority of the recent ones are. It really sucks it takes away the variety of theory crafting I just wish they'd release a strong accessible unit like 4* are supposed to be.
the closest we get to good 4stars are post-dendro Kuki and Heizou, but heizou is way to expensive build, and somehow i only stuck at c0 despite always trying to pull him on his last two featured banner
I just don't get why they gave her a sword. A catalyst would've made more sense I think as she isn't that physically active. I just want her because twin tailed elf goddess though.
Catalyst would be to insane, cryo aplication, a bunch of support made 3 star catalyst (especially Thrilling Tales ). Mihoyo isn't dumb, they are avoiding another Yae issue (even if she got buff through new artifact/element reaction fischl gonna get buffed along). Expect catalyst cyro dps on the future
She's like Zenitsu from Demon Slayer. She's is strong when she's sleeping. So, that's kinda understandable that she uses sword. But I agree a catalyst would've been better in terms of her aesthetic and being an astrologist.
I would reconsider, the problem here is that people are looking at her as a good 4 star character that shields, if you cannot afford a Zhongli and don't want to get papa Zhong then she's an absolutely good character to shield since her damage is nice and her shield is cryo and does a good job overall. Not comparing Layla with Zhongli. I'm just saying for those that are low spenders and want a good shield Layla is a great choice along with Thoma, although we need to keep in mind that it's not a Geo shield.

yeah i love using my dori with cyno, she's just comfortable to play with, though I do understand she's really not good, but i think characters can have low damage as long as they're useful in some new way, or a combination of traits more useful than damage
They kinda do... Or at least be able to increase other characters damage (like Yunjin). ONLY healing or shielding is too little value, thats why people dont use barbara on single player. She heals a lot and...only that. Doent even apply hydro that much.
I don't think so. Mihoyo has said that there won't be anymore reactions after Dendro release. So, it terms of elements reactions, it will as it is now even when we arrive in Snezhnaya or even Kaenriah. But, if it's about landscape effect, like that electro river in Musoujin Gorge or Withering Area in Sumeru, well I don't know. If she's viable, then maybe Diona too and others. Definitely what Mihoyo sold right now is gameplay and animations, also story. I'm still waiting for Raiden's initial burst animation's change (though knowing Mihoyo, I doubt it)
@@raima270 They can add other things besides reactions. Certain enemies that are weaker to shields, or something HP-focused. Why would they change Raiden's burst?
@@the8flo1 we already have those kind of enemies but the game is just so easy that they died fast and not really challenging. That's why I said, if Layla viable, then even Xinyan will also be viable. But, yeah, if they want the game to continue, they should not stop in Dendro reaction. I might say it "Raiden", but it's not implied only hers. Like we know, hoyoverse animations and design department have gone crazy in recent updates, I wish there're changes for old characters too, as simple as idle animations and lighting blending. We have Kokomi's good initial animations despite field-demanding she is on burst mode. But, from 3rd party view, Raiden's initial burst is just..nothing special. It might be only me, but she's my favorite, and she falls behind newest characters when it comes to animations. 😑 Well, maybe Hoyoverse wants to say, "You have a good kit in Raiden, so bear it with Raiden's simple animations." Her C4 is a good support for Ganyu and Tighnari mains or even Physical Keqing and ofc Scara. Basically anybody who rely on charged attacks as a main damage source! Edit: I'm not gonna and I don't need to list all the chars that uses charged as their main damage here. My last sentence is enough so if I didn't mention whoever then deal with it cox I'm not obliged to.
My opinion: she is pretty great, depending on how you use her. Instead of looking at dmg I look at elemental reactions, I put her on a team with mona, and xinling. Mona applies hydro she freezes, and xingling melts. Also she loads her burst super quick.
We have rosaria. We have chongyun. We have ayaka, shenhe, kaeya even. I really do think that having something different other than a pure damage dealer would be nice for a change
Hot take: There are so many idiots discarding units that aren't supposed to do dmg BECAUSE they don't do dmg simply cuz that's all their brain can comprehend. If MHY would release a character with a passive like Kokomi's but instead of -100% CR they'd have a literal 1 ATK point forced on them no matter the artifacts or weapons(so it reduces their ATK to 1 no matter what) but with the bonus of literally giving 1mil atk bonus to others and invincibility for 10 mins they'd still discard that character for not doing DMG =))))))))))))))
Well I thought of getting her for Wanderer team, especially her C4 is interesting, but unfortunately, getting her up to C4 for that buff would take too much primos. Maybe if she was on another banner - I already have C1 Childe and I do not think he needs more cons and Miko is not my favourite playstyle, so... hopefully in the future, I can get her somehow
Can we please stop subjecting new characters to these good-or-trash evaluations right as they're released? I think everyone's gotten too confident in their ability to judge a character's worth in such a short amount of time. There might be angles we haven't considered, teams we didn't think to try her in, or specific character synergies we didn't know existed. If we all disregard and stop playing her right from the start, we won't find out about them either. Nobody's willing to think outside the box anymore, we just violently jam new characters into existing meta teams and get disappointed when they don't fit. Remember when everyone thought Bennet and Xingqiu were useless in 1.0? This stuff takes time to figure out!
Remember how yelan was being compared to xingqiu and people were debating if she was worth it or not? Remember how she basically obliterated everyone when people saw how ridiculous her HP scaling is? Forget meta teams, yanfei's gonna have a melt buddy soon!
@@cosmicechoes6123 the whole yelan slander before she was released was literally a joke to me it was as clear as day to me that she was gonna be my type and live up to my expectations and guess what? She did I got her on her first banner and I don’t regret it I haven’t took her off my team every since, plus I love her way more than xingqui i bearly even use him anymore. Her E skill is so satisfying and she can basically fit into any team which is exactly why I’ll never listen to this community when it comes to characters…. I form my own opinion/ judgement of my own before I’d ever listen to these people it’s just how I play Genshin. And it’s exactly how I got every single character I’ve wanted without a single regret.
i’m not all that happy, but that’s because i really value the ability to have an emergency shield, which neither thoma nor layla give me with their stacking mechanics. i like her a lot as a character though, and her animations are pretty. still sticking with diona and zhongli but i hope everyone who wants her gets her!!
i only wanted Heizou cons, ended up with 2 thoma (already at c10 dang it), 1 layla and dori. i dont why but i have better luck getting 5stars that i wanted, than getting cons for 4 stars chars
It should be clear by now that Mihoyo will only release good to great 4*s every once in a while like Yunjin and Heizou. It's sad because new 4* characters are sellable to players who already have characters who are in rerun banners. Bennett, Xiangling, Sucrose, and Xingqiu will forever be the Top 4 4*s.
Layla has been my scaramouche freeze team shielder, and she hasn't even failed me in 12-3. Not to mention she deals pretty crazy freeze team damage with Chongyun.
I love Layla. I think I might put her on exploration team. I'd like to try an hp/cryo res build and put her in a comp specifically for fighting that monster boss in liyue that you need a shield for. I might put her on elemental cube duty as well
From what is showcased, Layla (as well as Faruzan if the most recent leaks are anything to off of) are 4 stars I don't mind deliberately skipping for the sake of C2 Raiden.

@@nadaaqui7407 Yea, she is. What I meant to say is that while Faruzan is niche in a way that she can only be played with anemo dps units, she is the uncontended best support for them. Meanwhile Layla can be used in almost any team, but she is so underwhelming that she only has a few niche uses where you would want more damage instead of more utility that someone like Diona provides.
After the incident happened to Kazuha, Kokomi, Kuki, and Yae's kit when people talked about them being not good enough but later on being in-demand. I'm just gonna sit here and just wait until other characters get their time to shine

Diona is so much better and also very easy to build. Just give her a Sacrificial Bow with a good set: 4pc Noblesse/ 4pc Maiden with Main stat: HP/Atk/HP%/HP%/Healing Bonus Substats: ER and HP

she's a fun shielder with a really engaging cryo application tactic. once in a while its nice to swap zhongli out to play other shield alternatives to encourage active play. this way every playthrough feels fun and fresh. quit counting stats and just have fun playing whatever character you please lmao at the end of the day its just a game.

Y’all are in the comments begging Miyoho to implement power creep. She’s basically just diona that trades energy generation and healing utility for better shielding, damage, and off field presence. Comparing her to Zhongli when all they have in common is a shield is pointless, she’s cryo, she works best in different teams. She’s probably going to be a perfectly serviceable unit and at least better than Candace or dori are rn
"better than most sumeru 4*" my g layla shield can barely handle any hits, whilst candace can actually buff well, collei is a good dendro sub-dps and dori... is well... dori, layla is probably in the lower half of a four star tier list.
Releasing a shield character will be a challenge always because Zhongli Shield can do 2 things that no one else can....Give u immortality for 20 sec and give u the physical and elemental shred these two things make him the best shielder in the game and also he's geo so he doesn't affect ur reactions...So any other shielder has to do all the things mentioned above better than Zhongli or like thoma help u with certain reaction while maintaining atleast half of what Zhongli does..to make players wanna pull and build the character and play the character. I think personally Diona is a perfect cryo shielder and battery and healer too and goes very very well with Ganyu because unlike Yoimiya u don't have stand in one place and shoot u can always move around dodge while Diona's shield gets the job done. soo yeah Layla is not that attractive to me of course gameplay wise..!!!
Honestly Zhongli being geo is also detrimental, as he can disrupt a freeze reaction in an Ayaka team for example,, while Layla contributes to that freeze.

Layla is not a solo character, she is pretty much entirely a support. It is like saying Barbara is bad because she is not a solo DPS Add her to someone like Ayato or Yelan, and she can give them some pretty nice numbers
Yelan doesn’t need that just saying that now…. Yelan alone can hit 140k vape with her E skill alone what more would you need at that point? A 2k dmg increase? Kinda not worth it unless it’s someone like ayato (not saying he sucks or anything)

So conclusion, she's pretty good compare to the recent 4 stars, which are completely shit. So I don't think she's that good. Every time a support character is released: "WTF This full time SHELDER SUPPORT can't MAIN DPS the spiral abyss??? Mihoyo you made a BAD CHARACTER!" She's a 4* shield character. Why are you testing her dps?
She's a trap for new players who can't 36 star the abyss yet. Shielders don't help you get your first 36 star. Dps is needed. Shielders who don't do damage are only useful if you have enough dps on your other 3 characters.
@@SM-tf3li usually teams consist of ONE main dps and the other as supports, if u build her shield really good you wouldn’t need a healer and you’d have an extra slot for a sub dps. you guys are always looking for a way to trash new characters, if you think they’re not worth it don’t pull. end of story
Diona is better. She can heal your team, make strong shields that look like cute kittens, has a lively fun personality and can mix you a mean drink. Layla just makes you feel sleepy.
I wonder why they don't make layla a budget shenhe. She's a researcher and rarely go to field she doesn't need shield tbh. I'm quite surprised to see her kit cos i was like "what's the positive thing about her? " She doesn't provide any buff at all. It's too early to say anything tho coz like those kuki situation
Her cryo application is probably not fast enough for Hu Tao and she follows standard ICD. If she did work well with Hu Tao people would be all over her because we're mad about niche supports but not if they're on a niche that supports some busted DPS from almost two years ago. I dislike the trend of lower damage characters because that's just unnecessary and they could've kept the bar a bit higher, but come on, she's far from terrible. Biggest gripe is her HP scaling passive (A4), could easily have been a 10% damage increased based on max HP and her personal damage wouldn't be absurd or anything, just standard, yet they slapped us in the face with that number.
I actually don't care if the character does low damage, I'll still use them if I like their design. I don't really care for the abyss, I just go around the open world so a lot of damage isn't really needed.
A lot of Mihoyos 4 stars seem to get better when a character comes later on that works with them. Its really weird cause its the reverse of how its normally done. like the give us time to get them built before the 5 star they have the most synergy with comes out.
She's a shielder who doesn't want your shield to get hit. Seems very counterproductive, why are you shielding if you have to dodge everything anyway? Losing all energy generation and part of cryo app if you dare to pop your shield is giga shite.

After trying her for a while I think she’s very decent for a 4 star (I’m saying this as a Low AR player), i do think she’s worth pulling ONLY if you don’t have zhongli or don’t like diona, but if you’re saving for a 5 star from an upcoming banner (scara, raiden, etc) then I don’t think she’s worth the risk. I got her while pulling for Childe, wasn’t enthusiastic about her in the beginning but honestly she’s really fun to use her and Mona together in the overworld, and if you use Barbara you become inmortal.
imo she's kinda fun to use. her kits are quite decent (heh). meta wise aside, i wont mind using her as a superconduct dps. imagine during coop while your teammates struggling and then there's Layla who is sleeping inside her ice bubble
I use Diona a lot, even more so after I got her c6 and she's so versatile. I use her in Raiden National If I need Benny in another team; her EM boost allows me to run a crit Venti for Morgana and he shreds enemies; she's amazing for Eula teams and on top of that, great for Spread/Aggravate/Bloom teams. So, I HIGHLY doubt Layla can keep up with Diona. But in the end, avoid aNxiETy in this super-duper hard game, and build whoever you want.
I think that precisely is the value of Layla she is an alternative to two high value characters Zhongli and Diona. So if you need a shield in two teams now you have an alternative.
i guess i try with layla xingqiu kazuha ayaka . the problem only heal but well let's try to perm freeze enemy since her ult quite low and get decent shield. right now this abyss is bad for her bcz wolf.

I know Hoyo just won’t release any more decent 4* and to be fair it’s hard to keep doing smth new and fresh. But I’m tired of getting new 4* that dilute the pool of getting a good one, and then so many of them just aren’t worth using or building. Some are good in niche places like Kuki and YunJin, but others … feel frankly so underwhelming.
I’m confused on why they’re releasing 4 stars that not only suck, but also have like no point to them. Dori is basically Kuki but worse. Why did they feel the need to make her kit so similar to Kuki’s? Candace has a hydro infusion going for her, but why the fuck did they decide to make her another normal attack buffer? Layla is the same - she’s fine but extremely redundant. At least give new enticing archetypes instead of releasing downgrades or sidegrades of existing four stars (not even five stars).
@@kale1287 I would actually happily take side grades but I agree they just feel like downgrades. I legit forgot Dori existed for a second. Candace feels extremely meh to me. Granted I’ve already invested into a few characters already and am doing ok in the abyss so I personally don’t lose a lot with the new four stars being crap but it’ll be even harder for new players to get useful 4*
key to Layla's off-cooldown Q is 180 ER and up even with 40 energy requirement, while Dori needs at least 250 ER to Q again after rotation. I did have fun using Dori in coop doing Q then afk. Layla is with my Eula copium team with Dori and Lisa. At the end of the day, Sumeru 4* are still shit in terms of team building, they only bring joy when you're bored as hell.
I really feel the 3.x is going to be full of blah characters unless its dendro related and evin then nothing meta breaking. And honestly im ok woth it its a perfect time to focus on other games do your dailys then go play god of war
