There is nothing wrong with Kyokushin Karate, Ashihara Karate, Daido Juku Karate, Seido Karate, Seidokaikan Karate. Although varied, they all share similarities. My utmost deep respects, for Kancho Yoko Ninomiya of Enshikaikan Karate! He began his training in judo then in our style of Kyokushinkaikan Karate! He has never spoken badly about Kyokushin Karate nor said Enshin Karate was superior. He simply wanted to create a style that reflected his ideas and blended his judo training and grappling techniques, with the strikes of Kyokushin Karate, plus add the Sabaki, circular motion. He was after all very highly ranked in Kyokushin Karate, as well as an instructor of Kyokushin Karate early in his career. He was also the 1978 Kyokushin Karate national Japanese champion and a number of years earlier, had come third at the first Kyokushin Karate World Tournament. I admire and respect Kancho Yoko Ninomiya and his son Mike Ninomiya, as my fellow Karate brothers. God bless them and everyone in the Karate family. I am Kyokushin Karate exponent and I respect everyone, Osu!
Yeah, this state's awesome. I live in Grand Junction, on the Western Slope. Trained under Sensei Gene Callahan years ago, back when there was still a dojo here in town. Enshin fits me perfectly, and I'm taking what I learned there into another local gym. Still, I really wish they'd open up another Enshin-ryu dojo here in GJ so I can get back in and improve my skills even further. OSU!!
Who do you study under in World Oyama NY? I study in Raleigh it was World Oyama Raleigh, NC dojo but we changed to Bushiken Karate not too long after Soshu passing under Shihan Mike Skinner
A big OSU from someone who started Shidokan Karate under Sensei Steven Lee in Hong Kong approx 2 years ago... Sabaki is also part of what Sensei is teaching us. All the best. OSU!
Nice video and a good school. Is that Steve Arneil (now Hanshi) at 5.10 in between the person handing over the trophy and the Japan Kyokushinkai rep in the yellow jacket?
Are there katas in enshin? I'm studying shotokan, but I LIKE this style. I love the full contact, and for me nage waza are very very cool. But the katas are so important for a good training in Karate.
Osu, yes, we have kata in Enshin, they are a little different than in more traditional Karate styles though, and tend to focus on level appropriate strategy rather than formalized movement training, they are usually performed from fighting stance, for instance, rather than the more formal deep stances one might find elsewhere. You can find some good examples of Enshin kata on you tube.
Yes, there are. But katas in enshin & ashihara, are very different compared to the old styles of karate. You can look for videos then you'll find out why i said they are different.
Head and face strikes are practiced, but not allowed in competition, as it is full contact with no pads. Full strength kicks to the head are allowed, as in Kyukoshin
It's not too bad at all. It makes perfect sense to practice head punches yet know when to avoid using them. In a real life situation just make the right choice. No one advocates that in competition we should grab our opponents testicles and try and rip them off, nor grab the windpipe, nor thrust into the eyes with our fingers. Limits have to be set. That doesn't mean to say that all of these, and face punches, aren't practised and are available options if necessary. OSU!
Well looking at his Kata. He did in a certain sense. In a book it described that he did not want to see peoples belly buttons or below Dian Tian for reasons of believe of chi.
That guy with shitty old pads including his son can kick your ass. By your attitude you werent taught well in discipline of martial arts. And its not if the school is successful. It is successful. You also need to find away to make more of a appeal on your shitty videos.
@@vagabond4576 Yes I was and that does not change the fact he should have had clean pads and updated his gear. There is no excuse for such a rich and successful gym to have such worn out pads. Replace them. Plus my comment was more satire and not serious but whatever. Cry about it.
this is limited full contact, if anyone gets punched full force in the face karateka will fall apart. As much as traditional karate hates to admit it. MMA fighters will always win against Karate practitioners in a full contact fight.
Not necessarily. Most of the best have a core fighting style prior to going to MMA. Which to include Karate. I trained with "PRO" MMA guys that have no core background. And not saying all of them. But most are shit because they have no discipline and in depth knowledge of what it takes to actually focus hard in a single style or a move which makes it watered down techniques blended in. Not to mention all styles including MMA are very limited in terms of what they are allowed to use in combat sports. Plus Joko Ninomiya in his prime would destroy you not only by his experience in Kyokushin Tournaments. He fought by challenges as well. Going into his book. Many Karate people have also gone into combat sports that allowed face punches and became champions. So your narrow minded as hell.
I think the argument of this style and that style is rather silly. The one who wins is generally the fighter with the better fighting instincts and dedication to their training.
If your read Nick Pettas legendary Kyokushin fighter book Blue Eyed Samurai. He believes foriegners deserve to be called such honorifics if earned and did not like the fact back in the day that Japanese only referred the term Senpai in Japanese inner circle in Honbu. So there is positive and negative aspects to Japanese culture that is presented. Senpai is correct. Hey they are practicing an art that stemmed from Japan Culture but shouldnt be frowned upon when foriegners adopt that especially when they earned the right to. Nick hated the fact that 1st and 2nd dan foreigners were not called Senpai. 3rd and 4rth were not called Sensei. And even master leveled foreigners 5th dan and above were not called Shihan by Japanese. They earned their right to the title and Nick wanted to change that. So for you to look down on it is an old school thought process is archaic and medieval that should be done away. They earned the title.
