I love it when bands know they have something good and they just give it the room to set in. That breakdown at the end just lingers and it's so good. Gojira did that with "Where Dragons Dwell" and Tool a bit with their breakdown in "Invincible." It's just that combo of the perfect riff and with the perfect drum groove that you want to hear forever. My only - ONLY - gripe with them is that the breakdown at the end of Take Me Back to Eden was so good that it could have been a bunch of measures longer before the fade out, but The Offering gives me exactly what I need in quality and quantity from that ending section.
I can see where you are coming from with the breakdowns, they don't seem to last very long. It is like they don't want them to outstay their welcome or something.
I agree. This ending breakdown and the one from TMBTE, the song, are so filthy and chunky.... I can't get enough of it. Eargasms every time. Wish they were longer also.
I 2nd Brian’s comment - this being the 2nd song I heard from them absolutely solidified my intrigue and love for ST. Every sleep token ritual (show) is closed with this song for obvious reasons!
god i love this song so so much. this one is the one they used as the closer for their shows during the US tour this year and it was incredible!!!!!! vessel goes so crazy during the breakdown at the end screaming and growling, and the entire crowd screams TAKE A BITE with him at the end. it really did feel like a religious experience!!!!
Even though Jaws was my first experience with Sleep Token, The Offering was the song that confirmed my absolute love for them! The breakdown that ends the song, and particularly II's drumming during that breakdown, totally sold them to me! Another great reaction. Take note of the references to teeth and biting in the lyrics. One of the common themes throughout Vessel's lyrics! Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
A fantastic song, they never miss. I see you already listened to When the Bough Breaks. Now it's time for The Night Does Not Belong to God. And Euclid at the end of your Sleep Token journey. You'll be a puddle on the floor, I promise, lol.
Mick Gordon just made an album with one of my favorite bands 3Teeth called EndEx. It is absolutely fire and you should check it out! ACME Death Machine, Slum Planet, Drift, Merchant of The Void, and Alien are a few new tracks that are total bangers.
I think what you said makes sense - having the freedom to write (and have) 12 songs on an LP allows you to play around with having songs that can each have their own space to grow, whereas on the EP's Vessel and II would've wanted to showcase their range as much as possible in a condensed manner.
I think it is a really good thing, it gives them a chance to properly expand upon their ideas. Maybe even throw in some that wouldn't have otherwise made it.
Definitely one of my top Sleep Token songs, though I absolutely love all of them for what they are! I haven’t heard anyone mention this yet in a reaction but that and drop kind of gives me rage against the machine vibes before the synth kicks in?
@@BraindeadBreakdown I mean, in all fairness I’m sure Vessel can easily play any Chopin song on the piano as he is an amazing pianist! I guess my phone was on to something 🤔
Great points. In my opinion, the first ep's brought the dark melodic tones, but when II joined he combined his incredible groove that gave the songs so much depth and life.
You very welll could be right about ii bringing it in. But some of the credits on Apple Music say “written by ii” so idk if he actually wrote without the help of vessel, but then other sounds say written by vessel1 & ii” others are just Vessel1. At one point it had their actual names which was kinda crappy for those who didn’t know who they were or want to know who they are. However, I’d really like to know exactly who did what I’m each song. They’re all so perfect. IMO
