The notion that Africa can govern itself is false. You know why China or Iran were never colonized? Because they were capable of governing a large nation by themselves. Russia is currently using the Wagner group to assert control in many part of Africa, this allow them to control gold in cooperation with local war lords. Russia in general is doing exactly the same thing as the French, they send their own companies in Africa to buy access to natural ressources without giving anything back to the people of these country. China is doing far worst than Russia and France, there isn’t a single African country where Chinese companies don’t control a significant part of the economy, China is also well know for their exploitative loans and their exploration of natural ressources in Africa. Russia is also well known for their propaganda campaign inside Africa. This is all well documented by various NGO, you’re literally bowing to your next masters, what ignorance can do.

Not say the West has been any good to Africa, but I would look at China and Russia with a cautious eye. They have historically not been much different to the West in terms of seeking to take advantage of their "friends and allies".

'Confession of An Economic Hitman ' was not based or written on Africa but on Indonesia exploitation by American companies and the destruction of communists with the support of the west. A good book I can recommend is 'How Europe Underdeveloped Africa' by Walter Rodney.

There are plenty of very recent examples in Africa to look to. We don't even have to look as far afield as Haiti. Problem is, Africans are taught their colonizer's version of events.

@@kelugu3776 none can be compared to Haiti - the history of the Americas is not widely known in africa. Haiti gained full independence in 1804 after a very 12 year long bloody rebellion. France and america, along with financial entities, made Haiti into what it is today. Africa wasn't even partitioned that early

You can't blame him because African scientists and engineers are only too willing to move abroad permanently or seek help from foreign counterparts to complete projects. This embarrassing level of dependence is how the outside world sees Africa. It's even worse now as many projects are outsourced "whole sale" by African governments to China. This reinforces the notion that we can't do anything for ourselves. Until this laziness by African governments is reversed this narrative will persist.
