Maybe someone might have noticed but look at the phases of the moon 4:56; you'll notice that the first 5 on the right from new to full moon are in order, but 3 phases between full to new moon on the left are not. Do you think this is a clue as to how the collector's psyche is messed with?
Based on what we have seen if you try being nice he won’t kill you off the bat. Though it’s probably an ongoing task to make sure he doesn’t kill you or anyone else.
Belos is manipulative, and pushes people under the bus for his own benefit. He also committed a literal magical massacre just so he can get home. Belos has done many things, all of which are horrible.
The Collector has had about 6:20 of screen time in the entirety of Seasons 1 and 2, and he’s already in most fans top 5 favourite characters. Now that’s how you know he’s written well.
The collector is rn my favorite character but I also feel like I need to see more of them like how their shown in the end of season 2 so I can actually rate him
@@hvnsl So far, he's only done things for selfish/self-centered reasons. Hopefully we get more characterization of him in the specials, maybe it's too soon to tell exactly what his alignment is. But chaotic for sure!
The Collector is technically not evil. His character and personality is basically *"What if a little kid had Godlike powers ?"* But if he was truly evil then the universe would have been fucked.
Pretty much he sees the boiling isles as a play set and the people as action figures in a sense to realizing that they have feelings and his “playtimes” are doing tons of damage and killing people
@@camarvan Well, we haven’t actually seen him hurt anyone except Belos. I know he was planning to “play tag” with the rest of the gang, but I think the Collector never learned how to actually hold back on anyone since it seems that he’s only had titans to contend with and they could actually withstand his power.
The scariest part is he's not evil. He's just a cute, immature 5-year-old with the powers of a god. Therefore, he can't get judged for his actions--he literally doesn't know how to control his temper, and thus his powers are out of control. I mean he literally started warping reality just so he can play a game--he wasn't imprisoned, he was placed in eternal timeout!
tbh kinda just depends… we can’t really be sure until we see more of him. It’s hard to tell if he’s actually evil or if it’s more of him just being selfish since he’s basically a 5-year-old
I can't be intimidated by someone so adorable idc how powerful he is plus just get Eda up there she can handle it she's the best mama I even seen in that show she'll probably settle him down cuz remember he just got out of that thing and who knows how long he was actually in it for he could just be excited to finally be able to play with someone again who knows maybe he's actually harmless well not harmless but a child who doesn't know his own abilities
Imagine Sun and Moon are just trying to have a normal day at the daycare and then Belos just walks in The Collector and they’ve just got to deal with him.
Remember Tiny Nose's second quote from episode one of The Owl House? "The world is a simulation! We are but playthings for a higher being!" That line sure is feeling a lot more relevant now that the Collector is free to play his twisted games. Great work foreshadowing the true main antagonist of the show, Dana Terrace. 🌜
I think they meant how the entire world is just a cartoon and the playthings for higher beings was meant to say how they are characters in a show we watch. We are 3D beings while they are 2D.
in the "wanna play tag" scene, his eyes glow with anger when launching belos and is about to launch the kids, but stop glowing when he's excited to see king, so we know his eyes glow when angry!
I noticed a similar glow when he starts looking at a distance towards the boiling isles and when tearing apart the titan head. So I think they glow when he uses his powers
iii think its cuz his eyes glow yk what i mean? like his eyes glow when he looks into the darker part of the room, but you cant see his eyes glow when he looks into the light
You have to admit...the Collector would probably be a good ally if he had a positive adult to parent him. He would def have Liz and company be his new friends just as soon as they are clever enough to convince the supernatural child to be a better friend by NOT going crazy with his god like powers. Boy needs a Mom and Dad.
I feel like the thing about the collector is that he is a brat with infinite power. Even if he HAS a good parental figure I don’t think he’ll ever really be a good person. Because if he does something bad what are his parents going to do? Ground god?
When Collector says "We're gonna have a blast, everyone!" just shows that he just wants to play with everyone with no bad intentions and have a good time.
yea but HIS definition of a blast is very likely different from everyone else's version of that given he's like, what, a 5-7 year old mentally (no doubt whatsoever he's been alive longer than any of them likely, but he's a kid regardless of that)
The Owl House is a series of many lessons, but the ultimate lesson I will take a way, is to NEVER break a promise made by pinky swear, especially not one with an eldritch being.
The way they SPLAT Philip and you’re like *"DAMN ok this kid is no joke"* and then IMMEDIATELY turn around and do this, and THEN whatever they do next?!?! Season 3 could just be 2 straight hours of The Collector one-upping the last thing they did over and over. XD
I love collector so much. My reaction to him was like “OH MY GOD HES SO CUTE!” So then I love him as a villain but idk if he’s good or not. Can’t wait for season 3
Thanks for pointing that out. I got to know that she's the collector's V.A after coming from a video game called Apex Legends, where she plays a totally different character. Really goes to show how much versatility she has as a V.A! 😆👍
This is what a true chaotic neutral is like. Collector isn't malicious, not necessarily pure of heart, and just does things based on what's the most fun thing he can do at that moment. True chaos incarnate, and we love him for that.
Someone should just play with him all you have to do is have the guidelines be no using powers and if he starts to wine tell him that it makes it more of a challenge and that's what makes it even more fun, or just trade made up story's for fun. The poor boy just wants someone to play with him
5:18, I just love the brief pause to show everyone processing what they just witnessed. We've seen how powerful our main characters have gotten throughout the series, especially when they work together, but even then Belos had all of them beat. So to then behold such an unstoppable force getting effortlessly one-shot with a light finger tap would flat-out put the fear of God in them, as a God may very well be what they're up against next
Just realized the collector moved the moon and therefore the tides of the water. The *boiling water.* collector might have started a boiling water tsunami.
My favorite part is when he says you need to have more faith in pinky swears because the other face of his behind the one thats taking does a silly little head shake and its so cute 🥰
Something I feel is that since the collector is just a kid he simply wants friends, it’s like with gus when he was young, the collector is being used because he has a lot of power and then being betrayed cause belos tricked the collector for the draining spell and king tricked him to stop it
@@Sonichero151 Yeah, but imagine how the writers might be able to play off of this! Especially with Alex Hirsch voicing King: Collector: "Just imagine how much fun we can have now! We can play hide-and-seek... tag... we can play catch..." King: "WE CAN SCRAMBLE THE FUNCTIONS OF ALL THE HOLES ON EVERYONE'S FACES THE WORLD OVER!!!" (Blank stares all around) Eda: "What the..." King: "NO IDEA WHY I SAID THAT!!!" Collector: "You seriously need help, little man."
0:50 The Collector: "Betrayed, Beguiled, Alone, Deceived! We'll Have Our Revenge On- Ugh, Unity Is So Hard To Ryhme." Me: "We'll Get Our Revenge On The Day Of Unity!"
I love evil/chaotic characters and The Collector is one of them. I liked him from the moment viewed this character but a soon as he said “WHERE GONNA NEED AN OWL HOUSE” he became one of my favorites.
What i find funny is that The Collector is how i always thought an actual god would be like. Imagine this: You're born with all that power, you can do _anything_ you want, and there's no one to stop you? Everyone else is inferior to you, and the entire world is at your hand I doubt anyone would develop even a single inch of responsibility or empathy, they'd just be eternal children, with a sense of superiority, zero maturity, and would throw a tantum whenever things didn't go as they wanted, because they _never_ experienced discipline before. Everything was always _their_ way, following _their_ rules. That is, not counting the possibility of a religion that worships them TL;DR: The Collector and his childlike behavior is, in my opinion, how an actual god would behave
I've said this elsewhere but I feel like Luz can "beat" him just by giving him a big sister hug. If she won't do it, then I'll at least volunteer a hair ruffle.
I want Eda to get the Collectors powers (atleast some to restore her magic) and then Eda gets to be his mom. No empty nest for Eda, her powers back, King back, and Collector gets a mom. Dont know how that would happen but Eda adopting the Collector would mean that she wouldnt be alone and if she had powers she could definitely tire him out, all he would have to do would be give her some to make it even. But I dont think that will happen but it would be nice atleast in my head. Though that owl beast scene does raise alarms. But if anyone could fix the curse it would be the collector. That is my hope for season 3, dont think it will happen but I hope it does.
I don't think eda will get cured it is too easy of an out for her arc. The owl beast curse is analogous to a disability her arc in the show has been learning to accept it as a part of her and curing it may roll back all the development she has recieved
@@lucianyari515 yea, but since she does not have basically any magic I figured if anyone had to take the Collectors magic to make him less scary it would have to be Eda and Lilith
To be honest, I think her 'curse' had become a part of her, like how (some) people take advantage of their own disabilities and change it to suit to their advantage. I'm not saying everyone can, but I know quite a few people who've become famous athletes, musicians and a whole bunch else! I wouldn't mind if Eda or lillith no longer needed the elixer, but to take away such a great spiritual and mental building block seems... well, wrong.
Forbidden knowledge and ungodly power are terrifying enough, but adding that to a child like mentality is a recipe for true horror. Good luck Boiling Isles, it's all I can give.
I know this is probably me being naive, but I don't want the Collector to be traped again. What is it with me and feeling empathy for questionable children ? Evelyn from "RE 8", that girl from "Case 308", and now the Collector.
Collector is the cutest god like kid i ever seen! Kinda hope we get more of it in season 3.....and hes a good guy(also king eda and very one else is safe and ok)
Well the fact that he split in half at 3:54 is pretty much proof for that and he also has half yellow half blue face like ENA and ENA has two personalities
See the first scene is what makes me reconsider all the people saying the Collector is innocent and doesn't realise what they are doing is morally wrong. The sinister way he catches the owl beast feels off with the rest of how he acts.
he acts like a kid. kids can be innocent, but they can also be very cruel. a child will pour salt over a slug or pull the wings off of bugs for fun; even if you tell them to stop, they'll continue doing it if it provides them with amusement. they can also be very petty. if one child pushes another, the other will push back and then bite for good measure. what im trying to say is that even if an individual doesnt understand why their behavior is wrong, that does not mean they are acting without malicious intent. malice and a lack of understanding are not mutually exclusive to each other.
Might be that the two collectors are different parts of him? Like there's the cruel side and the childlike side, and they are seperated or something. Also could have something to do with how Eda sees the collector if she has ever met the collector? Or how the curse sees him. There's a lot of different reasons but the thing that kind of gives me the feeling theres more to the collector than meets the eye is that King's dad hid King from the collector, which seems weird since the collector is innocent and hasnt been shown to hurt anybody out of malicious intent (draining spell was to play games, and belos deserved it).
Okay I never watched the owl house but because this video ima watch it, the collector seems like a chill dude Edit :Not even past the first 10 minutes and I already like it
I like to think of the Collector as a lonely kid. All he want's is a friend and to play games, but people are afraid of him and his powers, so they trick him and trap him, when all he really needs is someone to be friends with and how to use his powers reasonably
Collector is about as chaotic neutral as you can get. Only agrees with stuff that would be best for them, and gets chaos going whilst doing that! The best of both worlds.
Is like a kid, that is not human. Doesn't feel fear, doesn't need anything but attention and get some good friends. He's like in a golden cage that are his powers, everybody wants use him or fears him. I hope he can get back soon to where he's from.
Frankly, I hope if he even is the antagonist for season threw, that it isn't treated as an evil to be destroyed or sealed. But thinking about it, might be Belos coming back or something. Either case, I am so excited to see Luz return home and all of her friends and girlfriend to meet her mother.
I’m still so mad that Disney decided that TOH isn’t up to their brand name and canceled season 3, only making it 3 44 minute episodes. Which is obviously not enough time to tell the rest of the story unless having a BUNCH of holes in the plot. Really hope they change their minds, cuz I *really* want to see more of the collector!
people say that the collector was evil and stuff because of the way he spoke before but then again he's been under the influence of bellos for what? thousands of years so of course he would sound evil.
Collector: We'll play forever, me and you, when you paint the land in nine bright hues! Luz's memory of the Collector: Let's slash and rend and crush and bruise, let's curse the land in nine bright hues!
