Great job, Mike. Feel better. I was a reporter in Texas when all this went down, so just for context I’d thought I’d add these components to the story. These guys in Mexico were known as narco-occultists; drug dealers who practiced the Afro-Caribbean religion known as Palo Mayombe. It was similar to Santaria which involved music, dance, chanting & drumming. But Santaria is based on animal sacrifice which often becomes what will be served on that night’s dinner table. Palo Mayombe can be far darker & as Mike said, involves human sacrifice & grave robbing, but practitioners (at least in the form this cult practiced) believed that sacrificing a live victim would result in more power & favor from the gods, such as protection & invisibility while dealing/transporting their wares in what was at the time, a very lucrative drug trade. It was learned from the narco-occultists arrested in the Kilroy case, that Adolpho was a homosexual & felt that if a person was tortured & felt intense abject fear & intense pain (through sodomy & other types of pain infliction) at the time of death, more power would be offered to their god(s). Totally f’d up. It’s what nightmares are all about. As a footnote, Santeria comes from the Yoruba people from Nigeria and Palo Mayombe comes from the Congo. Since Congolese slaves were brought to the Caribbean much earlier than the Yoruba, it’s harder to trace their music, culture & religiosity. But anthropologists, behaviorists & law enforcement investigators will tell you based their individual experiences, Palo isn’t always so horrific, but can be far more sinister, more savage and even more mysterious than Santeria . Slaves that came to the Caribbean centuries ago, adopted Catholicism, the religion of their overlords, but used it as a cover for their own religious beliefs. Catholic saints were used to camouflage the gods they worshipped. That said, Palo is very ‘free form’. It has no ancient sacred text (no Bible, Torah or Koran), no specific protocol, no religious leader , no central HQ or base of operations. Palo Mayombe & Santeria, for that matter, are transmitted orally & handed down generationally. That means practice methodology of Palo is more likely to vary from country to country, neighborhood to neighborhood, family to family & from village to village. And one more thing: Babalú (Aye) is a deity in the Santerian pantheon. It’s also the name of a popular Cuban song made popular by Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz) on the legendary I Love Lucy TV show of the 50’s. Both Desi & his character are/were Cuban. The song ended with a very long, almost mesmerizing conga drum solo component. Ricky/Desi were a sweaty, exhausted mess by the time the number was over. Even that well known, VO-5 slicked back pompadour haircut couldn’t escape the very real athleticism that was required to perform this song’s conga coda.
I'm not surprised his parents were broken people. Like most people my age, I have lost loved ones who died of natural causes in old age, and that was bad enough. So I can't imagine what they went through. Or indeed what poor Mark was put through. Unbelievable.
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
It is terrible to contemplate, but if any other kid was grabbed rather than Mark, we would never know what happened to them. They happened to grab a kid with exactly the right connections needed to find and disable this cult.
The police was already looking for them as part of a much broader investigation into drug trafficking. They were going down anyway; however, the sacrifices and that other satanic shit they were doing came as a real shock to everyone, even the agents who had been trailing them for moths and subsequently apprehended them.
If there is any consolation in this story, for Mark's family, it's in knowing that his death led to the demise of this sicko gang and its leader. Mark will almost certainly have saved many others from a horrific end.
That's a bot seen the same comment repeatedly on other comments saying exact same thing. Ignore it. There is nothing wrong with what you said. It's actually very nice and thoughtful.
@sendthis9480 well unlike you, i go outside and it rains sometimes and it's easy to slip up when texting, but you dont have to worry about that in your parents' basement 😌🤝🏾
@@benitom5944 gleefully? I didn’t get that vibe at all. Kind of weird you did. Sounds a bit like you’re judging me for watching the video. You watched it too, right?
I remember this and it was horrible. Without the family connections, I doubt that Mark’s loved ones would have ever found out what had happened to him.
@@catlovely5438ait, you think it would have been better if the killers were not caught and were free to go on killing? It was solving Mark’s murder that stopped them.
For me it was probably the most shocking as well. The element of him just going about his business & being taken, and having the sickest of all things happen to him. Most murders are horrible, but the depravity and torture aspect, in this one has probably been the one that has made me feel the sickest to watch, knowing that some poor soul indured that. 😢
As soon as I saw Mark's photo i knew this story. Read a book on the whole case. Mike does an incredible job with the short time allowed. These mutants were/are the worst people humanity can conjure. Nauseating
I lived in Harlingen when this happened. The terror this caused was immeasurable. My brother and sister snuck out one night and went to Padre. My sister decided to leave thinking my brother had a ride home, but he did not. He ended up finding one and made it home, but not before my parents were up and horrified, thinking the worst. They both were grounded for quite some time.
Sometimes these stories feel like they're from another world, when hearing about them on RU-vid like this. But your comment brings the whole story to life for people like me🙈
THAT is one of the most horrifying stories I've heard and I've heard some bad ones. I can't imagine how Mark's parents felt or still feel. It would be bad enough to lose your child, but to lose him like this? I don't think I'd survive that. Thank you for the story in spite of being sick. Hope you feel better soon, Mike.
Aw, the fact that Mikes so sick a d yet he still works through it is something that I admire in him. Hope he's feeling better soon. My bfs been getting over some type of cold bug last week too. Some nasty stuffs going around. Not covid(took the test) but yucky. Feel better
One of Mikes' better vids ....it sure held my attention the whole way thru. My heart go out to Marks parents and close friends .......one place I've never had a desire to visit is mexico. They don't have respect for life .......animal or human 😢
I remember watching another video about this case and apparenlty the reason Seraphin gleefully ran the roadblock was because he literally believed he was invisible to autorities due to some of the ceremonies and spells of Adolfo. He told this druglords that they were protected that way and they believed him blindly. Thats why he smirked & seemed to enjoy retelling everything on the ranch. He genuinely believed there wont be consequeces to pay for them so he just told them everything.
I went to high school with Mark - I've seen just about every video put out there about him but I love Mikes videos so this is going to be one that I really want to watch even though thinking about Mark being gone is still so sad. He was such a nice guy and loved by everyone in our town. Even if you didn't know him, you knew him.
Clearly never a shortage of assholes in RU-vid comments, Mike's crowd is usually of better calibre. No one deserved what Mark went through. I saw this story a while ago on LightsOut and was just blown away by how cruel we can be to each other. Take care.
I'm sorry your youth had this story about one you knew and liked. It's heartbreaking!!!! I knew the story at the start when said his name as I too read many stories and even a movie of this terrible horrific true story. It's one that has stuck with me. I was a teenager in the eighties and graduate 1985 so this goes back far for me too. Not as you knew personally of course as again sorry it's one you knew personally. His poor dad and family so so sad when they heard how he passed away. No parent should hear it this way especially! His soul was heaven bound to the last beat of his heart! And know he only died to wake again in the arms of angels!!!!!
You should look into this case for yourself. This dude didn't even scratch the surface, and he's judgemental and hidebound enough that his summary is quite... Lacking.
@@camojoe83 Weird, there are many people very fluent in this case who have left comments, even a reporter who covered it extensively when it happened and they all say Mike did a great job covering it. RU-vid does have guidelines about gore/explicit material, and "this dude" is Mike.
There was a good movie made about this in 2007 called Borderlands. I read a random book I bought at an airport, got on the flight, then could not stop reading it. The title is Buried Secrets, and it was unbelievable--the depths of depravity and the hold he had over his followers. Lots of details, but grisly. Thank you for this episode. This is a story of pure evil.
@@ryanjacobson2508 That's a really good question, and I don't know the answer. I know from my earlier reading that this went on for years in Matamoros, but only came to light when the cult captured a fairly well-connected "gringo", just as Costanza had ordered. Mark Kilroy wasn't a typical victim. He was a US citizen with family connections. I think for years the cult was far more careful in choosing, unfortunately, people whose absence wouldn't be noticed. That's why the US authorities got so heavily involved when Mark went missing. So very sad for every victim, especially the torture. It's chilling to think that one person can persuade a whole gang to mercilessly carry out any instruction given. Your question reminds of the saying "If it did happen, then it can happen", no matter what those in charge tell us, or how unimaginable the actual truth is.
Also, an incredible Death Metal band named Brujeria took on the personas of the satanic drug dealers. If you're into Metal, they are definitely worth a listen...
@@ryanjacobson2508 I feel like a big part of it is: because the US in the 80s was so full of “Satanic Panic” - much of which was either totally debunked or found to be way overblown - so people can easily dismiss ritual killings because of how fantastical & similar to complete myths it can sound. Even without that factor though, I do think many would find it easier to believe that it happens in an unfamiliar culture & country than in their own.... However, if it truly _is_ happening in their own culture & country, I think the majority of people would only believe it if faced with actual evidence. Words alone, personal testimonies, or rumors & theories discussed on RU-vid videos just aren’t gonna do it for the majority at this point.
I remember reading about this case in the paper right after it happened. I was sickened and horrified by the depravity of the crime as a young man. I'm just as sickened and horrified even today as an old man. True unadulterated evil....
I would hope that any dark ritual that they did didn't work bc I don't think you can sacrifice someone like that to have their soul consumed or given to that god without someone being fully willing. I would really just hope that in the afterlife these poor unfortunate souls haven't been able to get to this god of theirs... If they did it 15 times.. I just hoped that it didn't work bc someone wasn't freely offering themselves.. But I don't know crap about that. I wouldn't mess with any of that if my life depending on it... And boy there was a time I was so sick laying in bed writing stuff down how sick I was and I was (almost) willing to do anything, but I was just so scared to say the words out loud😅 for fear that maybe someone would respond......... ... Maybe I watch too many of these
They can't do anything with the souls. Souls Belong To God. And satan and them are powerless in every important (eternal) way and are awaiting Destruction. My Brother, Christ, Has Stripped Everything from satan and their followers and they await Ultimate Rejection and Destruction
Sadly, the word horrible is not reserved for humans, and specific individuals from virtually any creature can be so. A dog raised by my dog rescuer neighbour with full love and care just decided one day to maul a little baby girl to death who was walking down the street with her mother. He was a pitbull, and specialist investigators told my neighbor its natural predatory inclination that it was bred to have took over out of nowhere, and there's nothing she could've done differently. She loved that dog and raised it perfectly and he he still did that. My point is there are "horrible" examples in all creatures sadly and humans aren't an exception.
I first learned of Mark’s horrific kidnapping and sacrifice many years ago. It is a case I have never forgotten and think about often. My heart truly goes out to his parents and his friends, especially the ones on the trip with him. I cannot even begin to imagine the far reaching impact this has had on all involved. Rest in much Peace Mark. ❤
I think this is the most disturbing story you've covered to date, Mike. I don't remember feeling this perturbed and sick from any of your previous uploads. At a loss for words.
Oh gosh this is horrible, I cannot believe how evil people are, poor Mark rest in peace 😢 I feel so awful for Marks parents too. As well as the others who were victims of these evil men.
I remember this story! I was 16 years old and it scared me. Now I'm 50 and it still scares the crap out of me! You look great with or without glasses, Mike. I love longer videos. R.I.P. to all of the victims and condolences to the families. Keep up the great work! You're doing well. Hope you feel better soon.
Growing up in Texas, this is a story that has never left me. I remember it being on the news a lot. It was also during the time of "Satanic Panic" and happened around the same time as Richard Ramirez. Scary stuff as a kid and I still feel sorry for his family. Very tragic.
@@texas2pugs you got that young spirit bro; keep shining. I'm starting to get that silver fox shit going on lol. I'm 37 next month but get told I look in my twenties a lot. It's the free spirit and love that keeps us young. Much love from Denver.
There were a lot, like a disproportionate amount when you factor in that occultism is very niche in comparison to mainstream religion, of crimes committed by these "satanists". I'm using the term "Satanists" to incorporate any violent cult.
I remember this vaguely from the news. I grew up in a very religious environment and this was mentioned at church as an example of Satan being real. I had no idea the details were so gruesome.
I remember this story from the news when I was in middle school and discussing it in class with my social studies teacher. It was one of those stories that, as a thirteen year old, was hard to believe but opened up my mind to see just how evil man has the ability to be. Thank you for covering this, hadn't thought about it in a long time.
Mark Kilroy, a name I'll never forget. I've lived 30 minutes from Santa Fe all my life, for Texas that's next door. I'm 2 yrs older than him so it was a major shock for everyone especially our age group even if we didn't know him. Generally speaking, Spring/Summer half the kids went to the New Braunfels area to go tubing and party in San Antonio and the other half went to Corpus. I always went west to Hill Country. Watching your video it seems like it was 100 years ago and yesterday. I'm glad you did the story. It keeps his memory alive and maybe some kid watching will be extra vigilant when they are in any unfamiliar area and know it's not an urban legend but horrible things do happen to good people. Thanks Mike.
Don’t ever apologise for going on tangents, it’s great to listen to you and learn. And please please please do a survival story!! I hope you feel better Mike and thanks for sharing this story. I’d never heard it before and it’s so scary, horrific and beyond anything you would expect from a horror film happening in reality. Praying for those victims.
MIKE. Don't push yourself if you're not well! The fact that you still try to give us content means so much. thank you! I did miss your face but make sure you take care of yourself too❤
Mike I was 13 years old when this happened living in Brownsville. You are spot-on with all the details. All your information is accurate. And I also learned some new things with a detail. I followed this very closely in the news and in the newspapers. From both Matamoros and from Brownsville. Just want to let you know you did a great job on this.
This happened a few towns away from me and it's still talked about it today. Every Spring Break people still cross over and there's still lots of border violence to keep us locals away. Lots of people go missing across the border, but Mark's story was big, due to his family background.
Love you Mike, you're a sweetheart. I love that you're still wearing your glasses for us, and that you admitted to still doing the wink on your podcasts, even though we can't see it. I still picture the wink when just listening. Feel better!
@@anarchyneverdies3567 right at the end Mike said he's gotten lasik eye treatment so no longer needs the eyeglasses, but still wore frames for us, intending to lessen the shock. 👓
I think this is one of the first true crime stories I ever heard when I was young and it has stayed with me ever since. Rest In Peace and Power Mark and all the poor victims of these monsters
The edits, the narration, the detail. This channel is legit like primetime television. I cant wait for the next episode. Keep up the good work, your voice just added to the tension of the video.
In such a dark tale, I was still preoccupied thinking how in the photos of Mark Kilroy he looked like a young Matt Damon to me. Such a horrible death for poor Mark & devastating for his family & the other victims' families, too.
I lived in South Padre Island for several years. I worked as a bartender. I also learned Spanish by walking around Matamoros, Mexico. People still talk about this murder. Nobody goes to Matamoros anymore because it’s dangerous. I can answer general questions about the area.
The entire *nonexistent* Texas southern border is dangerous. My daughter in law is from The Valley, more specifically, Edinburg. Her parents still live there. I worry about them because they’re so kind and trusting.
how would you say life in padre was then, relatively from these days.. were there species that in padre were found only there, as we have many of them in different places in the continental state.. of course, that'd be texas mainland areas, such as the san marcos city park, where the spring water is protected for a thousand feet of the san marcos tributary when it leaves out, before joining with the guadalupe river.. there are unique plants & the ecosystems are highly defended by the rules.. the smaller san marcos is a beautiful ride for rafting, tubing or kayak/ canoes & it remains in good to very clear visibility until it goes into the larger river.. have you seen this, does it sound familiar to padre? - €πD - ~WarriorPoet~
This video is a masterpiece! Mike, my friend, you sure are a sight for sore eyes/ears. Although the case is horrific, the storytelling is out of this world! Thank you ❤
Oh boy, I remember this well. I live in south Texas. When this case broke, fear gripped everyone. Every detail was described in the newspapers. How horrific for Mark and his family. Thank you Mike, for trying to be gentle with this one.
This is my favourite youtube channel by far. No matter how popular, sick, busy Mike gets he is still very consistent in his uploads. It’s refreshing. I like the dark history stuff as well as the true crime. The only thing I’d maybe change is having guests on the podcast but that’s probably a personal preference. It’s going to take time to get use to no glasses. I love that Mike opens the videos saying ‘hi friends’ and ending them with ‘cause I love ya.’ From somebody else it might be irritating or get old but when Mike does it it’s surprising comforting lol Rest up, Mike. We all want you to get better soon, even if it costs us a video or two. Cause we love ya. 😉😊❤️
Wow, I've heard this before but not in as much gruesome detail as Mike was able to do. To be honest, I was actually getting sick to my stomach listening to him describe everything. I could picture it ALL while trying to eat. I lost my appetite. Those poor people, and what Mark and others went through was literally hell on earth. May he (and the others) rest in peace.
This is the reason I didn't take a job with Brownsville P.D. Wife was pregnant with our first and when this story broke she and my parents begged a`and pleaded until I called and declined the position. It's only gotten worse so I don't regret the decision. Love your2 dark history videos BTW would definitely watch what you post!
Mike, how you narrated this tragic story sounded like you put a lot of feeling and empathy into it. You also educated us about mexican witchcraft. I appreciate all that you do. May Mark rest easy.
Lol, he didn't educate anyone on "mexican witchcraft". Also, this was just another paycheck for him. Don't assign morality to the narrator, he's got none. If you want to learn about Palo Mayombe, do that. Somewhere else. You want to learn about Santeria? Do that. Somewhere else. You want a watered down version of Adolfo Constanzo's crimes with certain aspects amplified for attention? You've come to the right place.
This wasn’t “Mexican witchcraft” lol this is Satanism every other news source covering this story mentions Satanism NOT witchcraft and you didn’t learn nothing about it judging by the fact that you were misinformed.
This has got to be one of the worst cases I've ever heard. Poor Mark was killed in the most gruesome manner imaginable. It's just the worst nightmare. There aren't words. My heart breaks for him and his loved ones. 💔
For this young man, this good son, Mark, suffering is over. What comes after this world, I don't know, yet feel certain he's free. As a mother, however, I cannot imagine what this has been for his parents. A nightmare, not to be borne by any mother and father. I hope they realize that, if not for their undaunted efforts to find him, other lives would be lost at the hands of these devils! Stolen and sacrificed for their sick superstitions. I see a saviour of innocent souls, unbeknownst by both Mark and those spared.💙
"The heart does not need a brain, or a body for that matter, to keep beating. The heart has its own electrical system that causes it to beat and pump blood. Because of this, the heart can continue to beat for a short time after brain death, or after being removed from the body. The heart will keep beating as long as it has oxygen." This story actually made me cry. To think he almost escaped as well, and probably ran TOWARDS the second car thinking they were going to help him, is horrifically sad😢
@@whatabouttheearthThe heart doesn't need any other organ to 'survive', but not vice versa. So a healthy heart will continue beating even if lifted out, and all organs have died, as long as it has oxygen. In short, "even after disconnection, the SA node still sends the impulse down the AV node and Purkinje fibres that spread out across the cardiac musculature and cause them to contract, causing the heart to beat. This will continue for a while till they run out of energy and stop." So roughly five minutes. The brain regulates the rate of the heart beat sure, but it does not send the signals that cause the heart to beat in itself. The brain itself can survive for up to eight minutes WITHOUT oxygen. So I would say it IS pretty relevant, and why they wanted to keep the sacrifices 'alive' for as long as possible before ripping out and eating these organs, and ingesting the soul. 🤢
@@thehangingparsiple5692 Right, but other than in the case of transplant that's fairly irrelevant if the heart still pumps if the body (including the brain) is dead. An air choke can kill a person as long as they can hold their breath with their current oxygen intake. A blood choke cutting off carotid artery will have them unconscious in a very short time and dead in a few minutes. I've been knocked unconscious with a blood choke in the military, trippy experience. I'm fairly sure the idea in their form of extreme DIY Palo Mayombe was to amplify the "spiritual" energy through prolonging pain so than they, in their perception, could harness it. Of course you would remove the heart and brain last, because that's bye bye.
@@whatabouttheearth no, because they want the heart and brain as fresh as possible... it was a fairly common ritualistic practice to eat the brains of your enemy, although it would kill you eventually too. They actually inflict the pain so it increases heart rate and thus oxygen levels. Then they have around six minutes tops to get the best meal deal. One at the brain one smashing the sternum. They don't always, but in some cases, once the chest is opened the heart can be seen still beating through adrenaline and all the other stuff I wrote earlier. I'm not replying after this, because I have to pick up more candles for the sacrificial altar before tomorrow afternoon. Plus it's pointless point scoring and boring to read xx

This is a truly horrific case and I can’t even begin to imagine how tormenting it must be for Marks loved ones to have to live with the knowledge of the brutal way his life ended. The leader of the cult was such an exceptionally evil person.
I don't think I would ever be able to speak of it again . I would pray that the shock of it had somehow numbed the pain, that a sort of delirium set in. Our body has built in protections ,I believe.
At first I thought this was going to be the cartel sacrifices of students. I can't imagine what any parents do through when such a huge loss hits. But to lose it in these sick ways, takes it to another level. Edit:Oops, it is the same ones. So awful. Similar to the fake Mexican goddess who had an altar in a cave . Truly despicable subhumans.

So proud of Mike for showing up to entertain us. Just goes to show his commitment to the That Chapter reputation. Thanks for your effort, I know it can't have felt good getting through this one. Big up Mike, and That chapter. Get well soon. 🤓🐜 Love the new Thumbnail. 👍
A true and mighty warning against vacationing in Mexico. I know this case well. The worst part of it, I thought, was making a necklace from his spine. About the most nauseating case I've ever heard of.
This must have been absolutely terrifying 😢 The tiniest slither of a silver lining that stems from his experience and death is that the carnage is now over. All those other people who went through what Mark went through... absolutely mindblowing how long this must have been going on 😢
I've never heard of this case but it seriously sounds like a plot from American Horror Story. Can't even begin to imagine how scared poor Mark was. Stories of torture like this make me feel glad for the victims of Ocean Gate. Imploding would be heaven compared to this.
This case is beyond horrifying. We need to learn about history, including, maybe especially, dark history in an effort to try to not let it repeat itself, and raise awareness of the REAL evil that exists in this world. Feel better soon, Mike!!
That is a nice thought but in my over 50 years on this Earth, I've yet to see humankind reacting in a positive way to stuff like murders or catastrophes.
@@lizhall4473 No, dear, quite the contrary! It just makes me sad that people are so evil, like we saw in this case. When I first heard of this, I couldn't stop crying. Maybe I am weird but I believe that souls can be trapped and I hope that Mark and the other victims were set free. What I meant is - stuff like that is happening elsewhere, as we chat. As smart and civilized we seem to be, there is still war going on, there are countless humans being killed every day. It simply breaks my heart, and always has. PS: English isn't my first language, so please excuse my mistakes. 😘 Be well!
@@lizhall4473 I forgot to ask - how is me saying that I am pessimistic about humankind's ability to learn from past mistakes to be understood as "nah, let's not bother"?!
Great job as usual Mike. The was a movie called Borderland that was made about this crime. it's actually fairly true to the facts as far as it goes and contains a true life documentary on the extras. This story gave me chills when I first became acquainted with it. No one should have to go through that, RIP Mark.
Oh my god… those poor victims. What an awful way to do things. It’s astounding how the followers can be brainwashed into a cult. But this one… blows my mind. Thank you Mike for this video. Love the dark history. Hope you feel better soon. ❤❤
This is an extreme form of Palo Mayombe syncretized with other religions so it's more of an extremist form of a non centralized religion instead of a "cult" per se. It is a cult in that there are leaders I guess. Generally it's non human animals used in Palo Mayombe though like chickens, goats dogs, etc. You can find other reports of Palo Mayombe practicioners digging up graves also
Oh, Mike. Hope you feel fully better soon. Just had Covid for the first time, had Paxlovid to help. Now got something else. So, you rest up! xx. And RIP to these dear, young folk and condolences to their families. Heartbreaking. And, please never apologise for talking about history. 💜
Mike: "I am recovering from a faringitis..." Then, he records an amazing video of more than 30 minutes! This guy's excels every time! Good recovery, Mike! Thanks for your hard work.
@@ChristianPA yes, and you wake them back up with more pain. Or ammonia. Or fire. I know too much about Constanzo. He made sure they were awake until he poured them into the Nganga. That's the whole point of the ritual.
@@ChristianPA even to the point of the previous ritual being declared a failure because the cartel man they caught wouldn't show fear or scream no matter what he did. And he did horrible things to him, too. In the end tho, he just cut off his head and buried him. Wasn't even good to feed to the Nganga.
@@camojoe83 You’d just need to lay someone down to keep them conscious if they pass out from pain to keep the blood to the brain. Not sure if these guys were smart enough to figure that out.
I've heard this story once before. Scary shit man! I'm 59 years old I remember when Charlie and his clan were doing their thing in California. I was just a kid. Hearing this story again today gave me a lot of the same feelings I had all those years ago. Great job Mike! I absolutely dig your story telling?
This is Monsters did a really long video on this case. It went into a lot of detail about the religion and the torture he went through. They actually buried this poor young man's with a metal chord attached to his spine so someone could just pull the chord, and it would pull the spines bones up. Horrific. Terrible thing that happened to this poor guy. Hope your feeling better soon Mike.
TIM is where I heard about this first (well worth the listen; certainly not for the squeamish though as it doesn't hold back on the details). Apart from the wanton brutality by Adolfo's previously 'normal' followers, of course; - what stuck in my head was the guy who Adolfo tortured extensively, yet eventually killed in a rage as he was SILENT throughout his ordeal?! 😯🤯 ....Anyway, this is the first time I've come across this story elsewhere - so thanks, Mike, for showing a different perspective on it 👍🏻😁
Also, if I remember correctly.... the metal wire threaded through the spinal cord was so, once the body had decomposed, the wire (& attached vertebrae) could be easily unearthed and henceforth worn as a NECKLACE?!! 😱 ....and, didn't one of the followers eventually turn on Adolfo because he was envious he didn't have a spine-necklace yet, unlike some of his contemporaries?!! 🤯
I went to church with him, him and his family were always such nice people. It was wild as a tween, to hear all of this craziness about someone I knew.
