The more documentaries one watches, the more it is obvious, but there are specific videos on this sort of thing, on the recommendations of what to say to the police, which is basically NOTHING, EVER. Remember folks, the police are not your friend. I think they're good people, but they are used to dealing w criminals. She asked for a lawyer at least twice that we've seen, said she was done talking to the cops, yet they kept grilling her and accusing her of murdering her husband, and this is AFTER SHE ASKED FOR A LAWYER!!!!! Who knows how many more times she may have asked and they just ignored her!!!! I feel sooo bad for Sandra.. you lose the love of your life, your high school sweetheart, the person you have built your whole life with, had a child with, and these cops have no thought as to Innocent until Proven Guilty, so even though she is in shock, in mourning, in total distress... they think it's her and don't even bother gathering evidence!?!? UNREAL.

They would have used that against her as well. See how they tried to guilt her with the polygraph. There's a reason polygraphs are not admissible in court, it's pseudo-science that doesn't work. All it can detect is if your pulse or your blood pressure goes up, which can mean you're nervous, but it doesn't confirm why you're nervous or that you're lying or telling the truth. Some of world's biggest psychopath (including Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer) beat the Polygraph because they had no remorse. Someone like Sandra who is highly emotional, in pain and now scared of being wrongfully accused would fail a polygraph but that would mean nothing.

That would be EVERYTIME you are spoken to by police.

Unless you probably killed someone and left crucial evidence. Not much a lawyer can do for you, besides, give you more time to think about the lethal injection. Sure, talk to a lawyer always, but please don't kill anyone.

And the thing is, he apparently thought this constant repetition was actually going to lead somewhere productive. Like he was trying to hypnotize her. I feel like even if she was trying to actually reflect and respond, he wasn't allowing her any room. No wonder she lawyered up. He wasn't giving her any chance to reflect.

That's actually the point. It's the actual tactic they use to get confessions. They just dropped the consequences of being sent to trial and getting a guilty verdict, which is deah, and they expect her to be in a vulnerable position (she is) and want to avoid that. So they ask that repeatedly hoping to wear the person down to get a confession. She did the right thing then asking for an attorney as that's a clear sign they are closing in for a confession, and will do anything they need to do to get it.

@@dasfowler bro that’s called entrapment. You can’t mentally force a suspect into confessing because you want a conviction. Obviously any normal person will break after a while and confess to something they didn’t do just for it to stop for the time being. I study criminology and anthropology and this is completely wrong.

I should think that the backpack under the car with another unknown woman's DNA as well as an unknown male's DNA on the safe is enough to justify a civil lawsuit against the cops as they did NOTHING to find out even if the wife paid someone to wack her husband, or the daughter did--not much mention made of the daughter in this video, hmmm. Was daddy molesting her and she put a stop to it? Did he insist she move out and get a job and she went petulant, pouty, and perverse, like so many teens booted from the nest? Lots and lots of missing effort by the 'investigators.' I should think that's enough to get the verdict thrown out, or retried, with better lawyering.

@Andi I sincerely hope it helps. There is so much here that was presented in court by the prosecution that I disagree with. For instance, the lawyer tying her own hands up but loosely enough to remove them while Sandra's ties were so tight they had to cut them off. Another is if she was already in the closet on the verge of a seizure, she may not have been able to hear anything. Her disabilities prevented her from a lot of physicality. Yes, I hope they can find something and present it to free her. Also, isn't it possible that a seizure would confuse her own memories? That one detective would have driven me nuts.

Yeah I don’t feel like this women A would be physically capable of murdering her husband in this manner and B with no wounds on her self from violently murdering her husband and C I feel like her getting hit over the head and having a seizure is easily done ive seen people get into fights then one of them after getting hit so hard took a seizure and D the way the cops tortured her while interrogating would irritate any innocent person and make you not trust them enough to give you a polygraph and also make you feel like it’s time to lawyer up.

This case is ridiculous. My mother has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since she was in her mid 20's, so for about 30 years now. Even though the condition has been in control for the past decade or more, she can't even lift a large frying pan. Much less fight a grown man. The pure concept of tying herself up is laughable, maybe her condition isn't as bad my mothers, but my mom can't even get both her hands behind her back anymore due to all the surgeries she'd had because of the condition.

I hope if she's ever cleared she sues the department and the police involved lose their job. I hate that they bring in people to run these experiments and just because they find that it's possible that means the person did it. Like...I watch plenty of sports and I know that technically it's possible to dunk a basketball from the free throw line but if I have the prosecution saying I'm definitely guilty because Michael Jordan proved it's possible to dunk from the free throw line. Therefore I'm guilty because they think i dunked from the free throw line and stabbed someone it's kind of ridiculous. Extreme example but you know what I'm getting at. Now that I'm picturing this I could just see them bringing out old video from me playing basketball where I could just kind of dunk then saying "See he can dunk! And since he can dunk and we know Michael Jordan has proved it's possible to dunk from the free throw line....GUILTY!"

@Tim Webb Bruh my ex had epilepsy, and she would rarely have seizures after sex. Not sure why, but the important thing is that when she did, she often had memory problems. She would black out for an hour or two at a time, having no memory of the time that had passed. She went a year without having one, but she still ended up having another. Her story is hard to believe because it is true. You can tell by the body language and word choice she uses in the interrogation that she was being honest, or at least I can.

@Tim Webb Sorry, no, I was just giving some personal experience in relation to epilepsy and memory loss, specifically. I'm just suggesting that her story is at least believable, and it does explain what transpired that night. Given the fact that she had no injuries, I doubt she was assaulted at all. Personally, I think she had an epileptic seizure unrelated to the event, but regardless of the cause of the seizure, a seizure could adequately explain the memory loss and black out. Given the fact that she had a history of seizures, it's definitely a possibility. Just spitballing here, but the way I imagined events to play out to be something like this.. One male and one female approached the house, which excited the dogs causing the husband to go check on them. The trespassers either forced entry into the house when the husband opened the door(no "break in" needed), or they slipped inside through the garage door. When they came face to face with the husband, one of them panicked and struck him, knocking him out. While he was unconscious, they tied him up and proceeded to rummage through the house for valuables. My working theory is that the wife experienced a seizure(cause does not matter), causing her to black out and lose consciousness, during which time they tied her up. At some point, the husband woke up and attempted to make it to the gun in his closet, but he was discovered by the trespassers. It's fair to assume that he fought back, but he was overpowered due to his constraints. At this point the assailants would be very stressed out, and immediately left the property, accidentally leaving a bag of stolen goods in the garage in their haste. But, that's just my 2 cents. It really is insane to me that this women went to jail because her story "didn't make any sense," but Casey Anthony is a free woman. Objectively, there wasn't nearly enough evidence to convict her. But, the American legal system is flawed at best.

@Tim Webb Honestly, that explanation seems much more convoluted than my own, at least to me. It also completely ignores the unknown female's DNA which was discovered on numerous surfaces in the house. I see you're also a fan of Occam's razor, though. My favorite philosophical razor, second only to Hanlon's razor. "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity." Mostly joking, but according to everyone that knew them, they had a happy marriage. All of the available evidence should have cleared her as a suspect, and simply because she had a seizure and blacked out, and was honest with police, she was convicted for his murder. That's the thing, man; even legal professionals that look at this case see the glaring flaws, the evidence that was ignored. For fucks sake, they never even tested the blouse or the handle of the safe. For all we know, one of them could even have blood from one of the assailants. My main thing, is that even if she did do it, none of the evidence supported that conclusion. The cops came to that conclusion on the night it happened, and they never even tried to find an alternative. Also, the over arching story line of my example is simple; thieves broke into a home to steal, and killed someone. A burglary gone wrong, a tale as old as time.

Tim Webb the point is, as the video mentioned, that there is reasonable doubt that she killed her husband. Based on that, and the terrible police work, a murder sentence isn’t right. They just wanted to put someone away without having to look too hard. Sandra was the scapegoat. Disgusting.

That's right. Don't think to yourself that it can't happen to you because you're innocent. You must not answer questions. Your rights HAVE to be read to you for a reason: To protect you against wrongful conviction and interrogators/detectives who don't care about evidence. Wrongful conviction happens, and sloppy investigation, or lack thereof, happens. That's why they have to inform you of your rights to begin with. They haven't always had to do that. It was implemented for good reasons. Don't just acknowledge them but politely and firmly invoke them! "I NEED (not: I think I need) a lawyer." "I choose to remain silent until I have an attorney present." It's not an admission of guilt or innocence but an understanding that bad things can happen to innocent ppl or even ppl involved in a crime who aren't responsible for the actual crime. If it's a criminal investigation, you need a lawyer.

Even with evidence of not only one but TWO other people's fingerprints on things around the room that night STILL got locked up smh seems like some fishy business going on in law enforcement over there

police sometimes just want to hurry up and "solve" a case so they can get praised for it. Then not have to worry about doing actual investigations to find who really did it.

It was because she said “I think I’m gonna need a lawyer.” That’s not a command/request, which means the interrogation can continue. “I want a lawyer” is what you need to say or you’re not protected. In my eyes those interrogations should’ve bee tossed regardless though because she wasn’t in a medically acceptable state of mind. Coming back from a seizure means you’re not capable of deciding whether you need medical treatment. If sex after a seizure is r*pe, interrogations should be illegal after one too.

Sinnly I’m from abroad. I watch many of these US court videos. I’m appalled at the number of miscarriages of justice that seem to take place. The jury pools are so limited. The detective work so often is horrid. Does the general population understand the concept of reasonable doubt over there?

I have been chatting to a very old friend who lives in America and it is so sad that she told me all her kids and grandkids are drilled on what to do when stopped by cops. I am so thankful my grandkids don't have to experience that over here in the West of Australia, how awful to be intimidated by these power hungry pathetic cops, nice to see the good ones although they seem few and far between. The channel consists of videos of situations mostly filmed by cops' bodycams thinking they know the law and some of the episodes are absolutely cringeworthy embarrasing, the channel owner knows the law and speaks about what the cops are doing legally or illegally and what the victim should or not be saying. It is also lovely to see some good cops doing the right thing also. I think Audit the Audit RU-vid channel just might help some people in the US who have to suffer belittlement and frustration by these power hungry know it all cops in uniform who don't have a clue about the law they are supposed to be upholding, they can sure see their faces on display and many thousands of dollars have been paid out to victims because of these dumb cops stuff ups, maybe the govt should be paying a decent wage to attract decent people, like the old saying "pay peanuts and you get................".

@dune goon - A random criminal with a violent temper who is meeting resistance? I could buy that. Robbery was the initial motive. The murder probably wasn't pre-planned. If she hadn't been knocked out, and had put up a fight or started screaming, she might well have met the same fate as her husband. Also, her seizure has left a lot of blanks. She might have actually heard or witnessed what happened before being knocked out, and the seizure has done a number on her recall. I have a friend who has seizures - sometimes he can't remember things that happened a whole day before the seizure hits.

And the sad thing is that these cops probably don't care. Just another closed case for them.

B) a particularly aggressive type of killer. Just because the media likes to mark particularly violent crimes as ‘crimes of passion’, doesn’t mean this can apply to any and every situation. Some people are simply fucked up people. That’s literally it. They don’t need any sort of connection to their victim to be able to mete out horrific crimes like these. They’re simply unhinged people that have no empathy and take pleasure in making others suffer. I truly do not believe that Sandra carried out this murder. There are too many reasons in the story that don’t make sense that she was found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

He was trying to invoke a response out of her. He was trying to get some sort of emotional reaction in response to the horrible things that happened to her husband. And the horrible events she had just survived. She was pretty unemotional up to that point. He is trying to determine if she is really a victim, or if he was the only victim. Up to that point, she claimed to not remember anything. It sounds cruel, but murder is cruel. I would want them to do anything they could to find out who killed my husband. Sometimes that includes investing and ruling out the spouse. That being said, I think that she reacted to him saying, "help me", in a way that could be perceived as her being genuinely upset by that phrase. That was the first time I saw her cry. I feel like that genuinely evoked negative emotion for her. That leads me to think that she could be telling the truth. He looked for something that would evoke some sort of emotion in her, to determine if he should believe what she was saying or not. However, I can't say if she was innocent or guilty solely from the information presented here in this video. I will say that, I don't think this should have ever made it to court. Based on what I saw, I DON'T think that there was NEARLY enough evidence to convict her in an American court of law! There's a little thing called, "reasonable doubt". And there's a lot of that here! Weather or not she did it, or didn't do it, I just don't believe there is enough evidence to prove either theory. ESPECIALLY the guilty theory. Also, these "detectives", are definitely not good at their job! They were asking very odd questions. They were talking to her like a stupid child. Saying things like, "What do you think should happen to the man or woman who killed your husband"? And they kept reiterating, WOMAN! Like they were trying to trip her up, or intimidate her by suggesting a woman may have been involved, and it may have been her. It was so amateur! Like they were acting like they thought they were slick by asking that. Like she wouldn't notice what they were implying. 🙄 It was so hard to watch! UGH! I can't say a definitive yes or no, about whether or not she is guilty or whatever. But no one else really can either. Because the people investigating this crime, didn't bother to collect all of the evidence from the home, or even bother to question important witnesses, that were first on the scene. This was so botched, and it's embarrassing! And it's a miscarriage of justice for everyone involved! Even if she did it, the evidence isn't enough to convict her. And it's just a tragic situation all around, for both sides of this family.

Chellsie Adams they didn’t show the entire interrogation, she DID cry. And my brother’s infant daughter was the victim of a violent crime, and he was accused and berated by an interrogator for hours afterward. I don’t think you can say you’d want them to do that because “they’re doing everything they can” to find the perpetrator until you’re in that situation. Nobody is grateful to be accused of heinous things they didn’t do and emotionally and psychologically tormented after a trauma, and especially not ones who end up convicted.

Yeah they worked hundreds and hundreds of murders but all they did was get coffee for the real detectives.

most of the facts Sandra said were true, but postponed anniversary date and her demeanor is a dead give away. A special event where a couple could drop their guard down for a day without a worry in the world, even go kinky, an opportunity. But some complication with the hired Hispanic hitmen, dates had to postponed. And hey whats more better place than Los Cucos for Hired Hispanics to blend. Keeping tabs on the couple, followed them home. She kept the door unlocked cuz garage door makes noises, raises awareness. Puts Jim in a vulnerable situation. Instructed the killers to steal the most noticeable item to prove a burglary. Tie her up and place foreign objects "blouse, dna etc" after the job done to divert investigation. She was tied up, didnt move a muscle or try for 12 hrs waiting to be found by someone FACE DOWN (not a comfortable one from all other possible positions). She wanted to be found like that. Most burglars dont break in an occupied house let alone leaving the doors locked or change cloth in the scene statistically speaking, knowing that no one else will come or be in the house other than the couple at the time of the crime. Burglars hurt/kill civilians to subdue, but the autopsy tells a different story, an execution. Things didnt actually go according to plan as Jim puts up a fight thus a messy and inefficient crime. Not a single sign of clean up like they wanted the DNAs to be found which should have cleared Sandra from the list. They werent pros, it was a one time thing hoping to get few grands from Jims insurance, unfortunately for them Sandra is in jail. These aside there are more indications to prosecute Sandra "guilty" but to defend herself, she got only two things....her "conditions" and her "not guilty" plea. Just think for a minute what fuels the "Burglary" theory.

Yeah my first words would be "I want a lawyer and Im broke." Then crickets...

If you look at the innocence project and the ridiculous lengths prosecutors will go to to avoid admitting they fucked up it's pretty sickening. They can have almost zero evidence against, a confession from someone else (with evidence to support it), and exonerating evidence (including DNA) and they'll still fight tooth and nail to keep the innocent person in jail. It's an incredibly fucked up system.

I, too, have RA and SLE (Lupus). The majority of people who don’t suffer from an illness like these “invisible illnesses” are clueless as to what we go through. A good day for me is being able to fully dress myself without help. My hands hurt so bad that I can’t even wash or brush my own hair anymore. Simple things are very difficult, some are impossible during a flair up. Just a few of the symptoms she suffers from would be, of course, pain but also brain fog that at times feels like you’ve got dementia. Imagine being completely sober and forgetting mid sentence what you were talking about, or, being unable to recall a simple word that you’ve known your entire life, like pancakes or driveway. Fatigue, not sleepiness. I’m talking nodding off on the toilet even after you’ve slept for 20+ hrs straight. And, the pain, is a different kind of pain. A lot of it pain that medication won’t help, like that burning sensation you get after running real fast, or the uncomfortable tingling feeling you get when a part of your body falls asleep, and sometimes even that horrible cramp type pain that you sometimes get in your calf or toe. The pain is crippling and certain movements trigger it or make it worse. One thing about Lupus is that you don’t hurt in your knee, your hand, or hip, you hurt in both of your knees, hands, and hips. It attacks both sides. Rest is the only solution. To me, the worst part is that many of us don’t look sick. On the outside we look like lazy, dramatic, attention seeking hypochondriacs. It sucks! I’m in my 30’s and I feel like I’m 90. Idk if she was involved in her husband’s death, or not, but I’m certain she didn’t do it herself. If she feels anything like I do, or the people I know who have autoimmune diseases, she’d have a hard time squashing a bug, much less, committing a violent attack.

I'm totally with you. I have them as well. No memory, headache, body ache, sleep for 8 to 10 hours afterward. In my last episode they asked me who the president was, I said Ronald Reagan. My last episode was a few months ago. So they mos def got it wrong.

Yeah I've had 2 seizures like 9 and 8 years ago, first time I was alone I woke up on the floor pain all when I moved any part of my body not know anything that happened and I crawled into bed not understanding what happened. until it happened again maybe a few months later but a neighbour I was friends with knocked my door and it happened when he asked to borrow a plate and i had a seizure, woke up in bed when i heard another knock and he was checking if im okay and offering to take me to hospital and told me what happened. I havent had any since then luckily though.

This case is so confusing. One minute I’m like “yeah she’s so guilty”, next I’m like “woah wait it can’t be her”. I’m not sure what to believe, but I do know there is a huge amount of reasonable doubt, enough for a jury. Law enforcement seem to love tunnel vision... what ever happened to following the evidence? It’s scary to think I could be completely innocent of a crime, but be in the wrong place at the wrong time and be found guilty of a crime.

If you don’t have a chance to call anyone, the moment you are alone in a room with a cop, ask for a lawyer immediately. Say nothing until you have representation.

It’s so infuriating! Testing is also dependent on police budget. There’s some states where they can only process a certain number of items. Not only does that get innocent people convicted, but it hinders the guilty from being caught, and victims and their families getting justice. And don’t even get me started on the backlog of rape kits! There’s so many issues with the justice system!!!

It’s often the spouse, and it’s often the one left alive. So seems legit she’s a suspect. But there seems to me to be a lot of evidence that makes reasonable doubt. I’m very torn on this one. But I think in the end there’s enough reasonable doubt that I am surprised she was convicted.

Mike isn't visiting all the crime scenes personally, he just has a vast network of informants back from his own time in the slammer.

But an EEG won't be able to tell you if you recently had a seizure, but rather if you have the potential to have future seizures. Basically it shows how your brain activity is right then and there. It could be beneficial if she had an EEG done but usually they take 30 minutes of activity and sometimes that's just not enough time to get clear data and then further/longer testing is needed. I guess it could go different ways.

My brother has epilepsy and his are the same way. Can't remember what he was doing before, isn't coherent afterwards, sleeps for at least 2 days, and still is in a fog for another day or two. This police department and D.A. should be the ones on trial after this.

I was hoping to find a comment like this. I'm not the most knowledgeable about things but to me it didn't even sound like she was hit on the head. It sounded like she went into a seizure. I'd theorize that the situation was stressful & it caused an epileptic fit. Then possibly she was hit afterwards by the intruder

@@DontDrinkthatstuff When the intruder(s) hit her over the head it caused her to have a seizure which in turn caused her to lose consciousness and that is why she heard nothing and then had no initial memory of anything that had happened. Later she began to remember small bits and bobs of what happened. That is absolutely 100% possible and probable. I am 99.99% positive that she did not murder her husband. I can't believe that after all the info about the other DNA found and the backpack/missing items that anyone could believe "beyond a reasonable doubt" that she had done this. But like Mike said... that only applies in the movies...

Was thinking the same thing. It doesn't make sense. Let's just say she did it. How exactly did it take place? She kills her husband on the night of the 22nd of December (stabbing and beating him over 50 times without getting so much as a broken fingernail) and then just leaves his body there for a whole day and then what? Waits for the family to show up and then she locks herself in the closet, or did she just wait in the closet, hoping for someone to turn up? I always thought "innocent until proven guilty" was fundamental in the US justice system. And I do have reasonable doubt that she killed her husband. Maybe she hired someone to do it, but then those killers are still out there. The case isn't closed either way.

She has epileptic issues, so her brains not firing properly, receiving a hard hit on the head which I'm sure was a concussion plus being in shock... Poor lady. I feel she's innocent and it's the lack of investigation. A TV and jewelry missing.. They were tailed to a fancy house and easy access. The wife gained NOTHING losing her partner, if anything she lost her friend and helper with her ailments. The daughter is sticking by her mom which should speak volumes. And lastly no burglar is gonna leave the house looking like a burglary..

@RiverOfSouls she might have ordered somebody to kill her husband, but there is still no clear motive. It's as possible for the husband's brother to order the job or even do this by himself, but we can all only speculate rn since I doubt that there will be a second trial. The same system that let Casey get away let this woman down even though there is even less evidence for and benefit from the crime.
