Now they have a tablet to play. We are making Zombies. The subliminal messages are destroying our youth. No one is paying attention. Take a look at what's happening in this country and the age of those doing crazy things. You give them a football and they look for the on button.
I was not even aware of this fantastic rockabilly duo of brother and sister until three years ago and I am 67 now. Larry all over the place making that guitar walk and talk. He was the consummate little showman. Justvlike Brenda Lee DYNAMITE!!! And who could not love his gorgeous, demure sister playing the straight, refined young lady role. What immense talent! Rockabilly icons!!
A lot of times, it's just words. BUT that's Western. As in Western Swing. He's wearing Cowboy boots, the background characters are in Western costumes. You know Bill Haley and the Comets? They had a band WAY before 'Rock" came out. Western Dance Music aka Western Swing. Look at the other acts .. Plus this was filmed in California.
@@SuperChuckRaney It's officially RockaBilly, a progression from Western Swing into Rock - You can see the Western Dance crew definitely approves of the injection of Rock N Roll energy.
Esto lo escuché ya , no mi comentario no se va a olvidar nunca sepan que aveces estamos abajo y arriba digo por los comentarios y criterios pero lo escuché mucho antes que los demás creo y❤
We hear much about the financial injustices that were done to the black musicians of the era (e.g. Little Richard, Chuck Berry) who were scammed out of money left and right. What we don’t hear about are acts like this who were cheated out of the fame they deserved by equally bad management. I’m not sure what’s worse, but I think that nobody knowing your name or your work is far worse than being a legend with no royalties. These two could have gone very far indeed with the right management.
00:01 Wow that slightly overdriven old tube amp sounds fantastic. Given the early recording technology of the day, it's amazing. Larry really knew how to milk his guitar and amp for that distinctive tone. 🤠
Ich bin 78 and an old R'n'R-er from Germany and that is the first time (third of February 2023!!) that I heard from this teriffic band. Thank you ever so much that I could listen to you both!! DANKE 🥰😍🤣😂
I love that they didn't have "background singers", but rather just "background clappers". The tall guy in back is hysterical. I don't think he even claps much. He's more of the lead finger-snapper. Mainly, all he does is smile big and wears a fancy western scarf tied on the side. 😅🤣😂
the guitar track sounds a lot like the main music on the Beverly Hill Billies... I wish I had the two scores side by side to see where the commonalities are.
You can tell the kid naturally loves to entertain. I can only assume the show finally lost its appeal after the kid grew up. Love his energy and enthusiasm and guitar
He weas already inb Cali, he was buddies with every name in LA during the 60s. He wrote lots of songs including Delta Dawn. He was Glenn Campbells buddy. Lori ran off with her manager and Larry grew up.
Larry put every ounce of talent and energy into performing with his sister, Lorrie. Sadly, she suddenly disappeared- eloping with Johnny Cash's much older road manager. Larry heard this while at school. He ran out of school, down an alley, sat down, and cried his eyes out. That was the end of the Collins Kids, not to mention the close ties between Lorrie and Ricky Nelson.
It wasn’t the ‘end’ he carried on playing his guitar, she got married and had kids, they joined up again and performed again for years until she died in 2018 unfortunately and sadly Larry has recently passed away only the other day on the 5th January 2024. Please check your facts before telling stories, it wasn’t ‘the’ end when she left!.
It's always amazed me, the high quality sound those engineers got... And I'm pretty sure that this was "live" TV... Even if Town Hall Party was taped, it's still amazingly high quality. And of course, The Collins Kids!
@@pouglwaw5932I’m sure Larry didn’t mind, it’s hardly original in any case Elvis didn’t jive around like Larry playing the guitar Larry was like a Jack in the box, Elvis couldn’t keep up with him, also we don’t have film of Elvis playing the guitar at 7 or 8 like we have of Larry!..
I watch these videos just for Larry's energy passion and footwork...can anyone out there tell me the purpose of a double neck guitar because I never see Larry using the top one.,, is it just for show?
Here's an example of Larry (and Joe Maphis) using both necks (link below) The top one is tuned higher. Jimmy Page had one neck with 6 strings, one with 12 strings on his. Saves having to switch guitars but it is also for show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8OYoZcJFip8.html
She was fairly easily convinced she didn't need any of her closest people - Larry, her family, and even Ricky Nelson, by Johnny Cash's much older road manager. Lorrie ran away with him and that was the end of the Collins Kids and everything else, too.
I’m not sure chuck was older, the late (Larry) was born in 1944 (by the way Larry has just died on the 5th January 2024) one thing is for sure he was a born entertainer and a child star at a very young age he began on stage at 6 or seven, a great story was Larry and his ‘big’ sister lorrie!.
