I'm viewing this in 2017 and though it wasn't the most high-quality film, I enjoyed the soundtrack, plot line, everything. Keep it up. Advance on your skills, my man! The actor who played Chris... he was my favorite before he died ;-;
I've given the idea of establishing law and order in a post apocalyptic colony a great deal of thought. This short film proved me correct on a few things. 1) Everyone pulls guard duty, unless your skill set is so highly specialized and so in demand that the colony cannot be without you for even 4hrs. For example chief medical officer, head chef who runs the kitchen, chief engineer for power and perhaps chief of water/sewage and sanitation. 2) If any sentry is caught sleeping on watch for their first offense 3 days imprisonment with no food, only water. Second offense 25 lashes in the public square. Third offense is exile. If sleeping on watch results in the death on anyone, then that sentry will also be put to death. There will be no secret or summary executions. Everyone gets a fair trial before sentencing. 3) Most everyone will farm and perform everyone else's job at some point, there will be a rotating schedule. That way if we lose someone everyone already knows how to do that person's job. 4) If you pretend to be sick and malinger or blow off 3 work assignments you get 3 days imprisonment with no food only water. 5) Petty theft will result in 30 days hard labor assignments with ball and chain attached. Petty theft 2nd offense result in 25 lashes in public square and 60 days hard labor. Petty theft 3rd offense is branding on the forehead the word "thief" and permanent exile. 6) Grand larceny 1st offense chop off non-dominant hand, branding "thief", permanent exile. Murder and rape are capital crimes. I could go on but you get the picture. Law and order must be established and agreed upon by the majority otherwise your colony or compound will descend into anarchy the first time you try to carry out a punishment.
I seriously don't understand why this is getting bad reviews. Other than the unrealism of the zombies, I was blown away. For students, people my age, to build INTERESTING, non-generic characters in a very "liable-to-be-generic" film is outstanding. I've seen far worse on RU-vid get far better reviews. Honestly, great job with this. I think everyone in the comments just wanted to see badass zombie slaying. Not realistic characters. Keep this stuff up, I loved it in all honesty.
And may I also add, the elements of dialogue you used were impressive. Typically you just hear really intimate, emotional dialogue in zombie films, then silence for ages. This felt more genuine.
Which, one, introduces an element of film rare to RU-vid, and two, feels more contemporary as opposed to "serious" survivalist characters. Are two misfits likely to survive an outbreak? Not quite. But upon the possibility of them doing so, this film captures the behavior of the modern misfit adequately. Seriously good stuff here, guys.

I only liked it because of the Nirvana tune...this is the first time ever I rooted for the zombies to win :D I hope they aren't brain eating zombies... gonna be a long hungry summer
I thought this was pretty great. The action and dialogue kept it interesting without having to use gallons of ketchup. Some promising acting there, too.

That's good he's teaching him how to soot properly he's a real leader I've done that for my wife also teaching her all about gun safety i have also taught her how to defend her self untill i got to old Todo so and I got diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my thoracic spine so I talked to my old buddy my mixed martial arts instructor and i got her enrolled in mma in women's self defense and when her and my mma instructor spars i told him don't take it easy on her treat her like you are a real attacker I rather my wife's nose get broken in mma class and know how to defend her self and so she knows what pain feels like and if she ever gets attacked she will know how to properly deal with the pain even though I'm old I still help like when she gets home from mma classes I go over with her on what she learned so she can keep her mind fresh on it I want it to become muscle memory for her she's a tough damn woman the toughest woman I know but she will even tell you she's not like all these modern women these days who believe they are as strong as us men and equal to us men she says baby I know I'm not as strong as you men or equal to you men so if I get attacked I will have to fight really hard and really fast and do my best to hurt my attacker then get out of there i also keep her stocked up on pepper spray she's a damn smart woman and tough woman so I'm not as scared as I used to be when she goes out alone or with girlfriends i realize now she at least knows how to defend her self and I tell her every day baby girl one day i won't be here to defend you you need to know this shit so you can defend your self that woman is my life my world my pride and ny joy and I want nothing but the best for her if I didn't love her I wouldn't be spending thousands of dollars for self defense classes for her and I'm no stranger to fights at all back in my younger days I was nothing but a fist fights it's alot easier saying you won't be scared in fights and you'll do this and that but when the time comes it's different i been fist fighting my whole life tikk i got diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my thoracic spine and I have chronic pain all over my body so i retired from the fist fighting game and even if I got in a fist fight now if still get butter flies and shit in my stomach it just means you're human I teach her how to disengage her adrenaline dump also adrenaline dump into the body is what actually gets most people hurt doing a figure when your in mixed martial arts they teach you how to disengage the adrenaline gland to better prepare for combat and im not like the average person in trained and I have a trained eye any time me and my beautiful wife goes out i scan around us and studies show some one like ke can actually see an attack coming ten seconds before it happens
When I first saw a bunch of amateur kids I thought I was in for a real crappy film.....BUT I was greatly impressed! Story was entertaining The humor was perfectly timed. In fact, aside from the makeup it was almost believable!! Perfect balance! Thanks guys!
Though I'm an old woman, I sort of enjoyed this. Nice to see young people doing films. Also, for some reason, I believe younger people would do a better job at maintaining their senses during horrifying times.
Haha I understand ya, I ran boom bitch for several scenes and wanted to claw my eyes out. but also take into account that it is a comedy, and the characters are supposed to seem like they don't belong in the situation. For example: in one of the begining scenes, who would be better to be in charge of security than some anti-gun rich kids who had never even seen a real gun before, let alone been taught how to properly and safely use one. Please take this short with a grain of salt, as it was created for fun. Hope you enjoyed.

They clearly are good actors just because they count do a zombie makeup or have disgusting shit like we see in a real Hollywood zombie movie doesn't mean they don't know how to act

A really good one. Though I doubt you can understand the language it is acted in, you ought to watch "undead city - cortometraggio zombie". Then you can be proud of your work. Our four thumbs are up for ya.

Where are the parents? Sorry, I know it's a "student" film, but a film starring just teenagers takes away from the believability of the story. It's like watching Sarah Michelle Geller in "Cruel Intentions", an adult story with kids in lead roles.
+TransCinema Films I know. And you did a bang up job. I made Super 8 films when I was a kid. So, I'm with you. I loved JJ Abrams movie, "Super 8". Especially when they show the kid crawling under his bed and grabbing an issue of "Super 8 Filmmaker" magazine. I actually subscribed to that magazine when I was young and lived by it. So, I was half serious myself. I wish I had video camcorders back then. I would've made more shorts myself. You are fortunate to have this technology in your hands. You can do so much. Have fun man. I can understand why there is hate for the video. But, i overall like it, and would like to see a possible prequel to explanation to how the colony formed and why teens were allowed with guns. honestly i just want to know who was the wise guy who put the 2 morons as defenders.

Hmm. These kids show no signs of having been able to survive more than a few days, let alone the year or more implied. Colony? What colony? I saw no signs of any significant organization at all, let alone any leaders. Still, it could have been much worse. Keep working on your craft!
