Whoopie and Danny was one of the main characters in the film Oprah had the funding! Oprah is not for the colored community. She is a very smart woman she knows and knew how to get the ratings and what audience would accept her to get her where she is! Please tell me how many African Americans have she really helped without a dollar involved! You see where Tyler is she has a strategy to make a dollar! Happy for them! BUT, it is Oprah who has really carried the torch/legacy of the brilliant work of Alice Walker for the past thirty years. I don't think anyone diminishes Whoopi's contribution to the cinematic universe, especially when it comes to "The Color Purple."

Watch the cast on the View. They give Whoopi all the tributes she deserves.

My thoughts exactly! Just came from the movie tonight, and it made me emotional and nostalgic. I can't wait to see it again! What a steller performance from all. I'm watching the original film now and they are very similar.

I seen last Wednesday and I have to say they did great there was kids like me but they were younger then me so I really got what they was trying to tell us and I was the only kid who really liked it I loved the song,dancing and singing they are blessed with their talents that god gave them and he has big plans for all of them. Sorry for it being long

I wouldn't take my daughter to see a story mostly built upon homosexuality,two woman having sexual desires with oneanother on screen but to each it's own.

It will never compare to the original not even close.

Someone whose involved ought to do it since they're acting like they're doing something monumental that hasn't been done before already. The lack of mentioning I've seen of the original movie and those actors is crumbling to me. They didn't even get Alice Walker involved and she's not dead yet.

I doubt Danny Glover wants "acknowledgement", this role nearly killed his career! 😂

I always try to do it in a respectful manner. I watched The View when The Color Purple casts was on the show. When it was mentioned that Oprah was on the show I had to go back and watch it, because I didn't think she was on the show. The only mention of Whoopi's name with The Color Purple movie was on The View that day. I started reading later that something happened. IDK if true. I can say, that I never heard the people heading the Movie or any of the cast mention Whoopi's name once until The View. Maybe, Whoopi didn't want to take part, but for not acknowledging her by name I thought was strange an disrespectful when she was the star. I have to say The Original and the Movie are great beautiful actors. I just wish they were all respected by the industry, because I know they will always have our respect.. I truly enjoyed The View when they did honor and and gave her flowers. I know that made all of them all feel great. I am so exhausted so I tend to talk too much. I really don't want to disrespect anybody, I was just voicing my opinion. God Bless all of you that's reading long comment lol.
