Sara Haines "well there's a whole new generation of people that are going to be introduced to The Color Purple because of you guys with this film" 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I love how Blitz broke his process down. It's so intentional, so beautiful, and so intricate. This is going to be absolutely AMAZING. I can't wait to experience this.
I was crying uncontrollably watching this episode. I Saw the original movie with Whoopi, Oprah, Donny Glover. There is something very spiritual about the movie then and the renewed version now. I am looking forward to seeing the return of this movie.
i have already cried twice watching this interview. I cannot imagine how many times i will ball out when I see it. I am so proud for the cast and everyone involved who are bringing this to the cinemas.
I don't want to make this movie about awards; I just need the Oscars to redeem themselves. The original was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and did not win 1. Whoopi atleast should've been the first Black Woman to win the Best Actress category because her acting in that role was impeccable Please give this cast their flowers
I came across a video on RU-vid which analyzed why she didn't win It's from a RU-vid channel called Be Kind rewind Titled Geraldine Page wins an Oscar,The Color Purple Doesn't In summary The woman who won Geraldine Page was an acting veteran who had been acting as much in a while and had been blacklisted in Hollywood's for 8 years So it was essentially people probably feeling like they also had to honor her them Since the industry had not acknowledged her even though Ms Page was considered a great actress and had been nominated earlier If Geraldine had not been nominated I believe Whoopi would have won as the favorite to win Geraldine died 2 years after winning her oscar award for Best Actress so it was really the last time she would have won it Whoopi still won a few years later for Ghost to balance things out
Why are y'all so obsessed with the Oscars? Y'all really think Whoopi and Angela are tripping over that, they in they 60s they grown @$$ women they could care less about a oscar
OMG your little girl is adorable. That clip had me crying with Joy. Her excitement and amazement. Congratulations to all of you ladies on a job well done can't wait to see the movie
I watch The Color Purple Every Year, I have it on a CD. I Love Love Love this movie. Whoopi you are a great inspiration to these young ladies, and the Color Purple has been your best work by far.
Each time I’ve seen these iconic women, they’ve always been classy. Fantasia is always on point and humble; Taraji is always authentic and Danielle is so family oriented and seem to make those she work with her family. I love each of them and can’t wait to see this remake of this movie!
What a BEAUTIFUL MOMENT 😊😢 brought tears to my eyes! The reasoning behind Danielle’s daughter’s name and crown… AWESOME, just AWESOME!! I saw the movie and I loved it!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
✨THE COLOR PURPLE!!🧡💚💜💛💙❤️________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
It’s crazy that there are people who have never seen the colour purple who are like my age. I’m in my 20s but at least they will literally be a new generation. Introduced to the film because of this new reiteration. 👏🏾
YOU BETTA PREACH MS HENSON. THIS MOVIE IS FOR EVERYONE NO MATTER COLOR, ORIENTATION NONE OF THAT IF A STORY RESONATES WITH YOU IF YOU FEEL REPRESENTED THEN THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS PERIOD
Color Purple reimagined was sooo well done. Not a remake but a truly celebratory work. Very well done. First time learning about Blitz. Will keep am eye out for more of his work
I feel like Whoopi should’ve been asked a few questions about her legacy here and if/how her process of becoming/ living with and as Celie was similar to Fantasia’s. Her feelings on seeing the movie take on new lives on Broadway and now in film.
@X45018 ... if you can ... Please watch the Original from 1985 first ... trust me ❤ it's phenomenal and it gives you more of an understanding and appreciation for the remake.❤
It is not all that do not believe the hype celie and shug didn't even get to have a real love story I recommend watching the musical clips with fantasia and this movie right here, they really dive into the beautiful love they shared
@@MzVonnie4187 well that's what i put and that's what I meant they're the only reason I'm watching the movie cause they're the ones I relate to besides Sophia 👸🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
@@sarahb-rh9dd ... Ok ... No need to be so Defensive and Angry ... We're just speaking from our own views and versions of the movie/musical play. I wasn't disagreeing with you ... I was just speaking of the whole movie in general.
@@sheldoncole7276 yes, fortunately, they resolved it on Oprah’s show several years ago. Apparently it was lack of communication between them and nothing more. I was looking for the clip on RU-vid and the internet in general, but I can’t find it to post it here.
When I heard the Child’s name after I saw the reaction, I cried. I cried because I had a brief flash back at what African Americans went through. African Americans are finally free, no matter what!
I often try to put myself in other peoples shoes. Why? It’s a humbling experience to try and feel what someone else may be experiencing in this life. Today it was another perspective that I have not had the experience of seeing because I was born white. Even though I was not born into privilege, being white comes with a privilege on its own, no matter if I was born poor or rich. I’ve been blessed with friends and family who are from other cultures and who have skin colour other than white, including my oldest son and my youngest daughter. I’ve witnessed my daughter go through things that aren’t pleasant because she is Asian and it cuts me to my soul. Today I put myself in a mother’s shoes, who for the first time, was able to go to the movies and see a leading role played by a young black actress. Someone who looked like her! Never in my life did I ever think what that must feel like for a child. Something as simple as seeing the possibility of yourself in a movie. It was eye opening. Then to feel what that must of been like for the mother to witness. Very empowering. To all those of a different colour who have only seen a whitewash on TV and the movies, I am so happy this world is changing. I can’t wait to see what is next and I hope, when I do, I can feel as emotionally touched as I was today watching this clip on RU-vid. Blessings to all those who are paving the way to a better world for our children!
