@@robertmiller5516 Both _The Color Purple_ and _Out of Africa_ had eleven Academy Award nominations that year. _Out of Africa_ won seven. _The Color Purple_ went away empty handed. Geraldine Page won the Best Actress Academy Award for _The Trip to Bountiful_ . She had seven Academy Award nominations previously in her career. Whoopi won the Golden Globe Award however.
She needs to STOP channeling spirts to use her body as a vessel, that’s demonic. Celebrities are dark, don’t ignore it as just “acting” it’s demonic. 1 John 5:19 2 Corinthians 4:4
@@deedeetaylor124 Chile🙄 we wasn't even thinking about her frfr. Every interview is different I love her but she doesn't have to be in everything LET THESE PPL SHINE🌟🙌🏿
Whoopi G is one of the greatest gifts to acting humanity has ever been given. Some people don’t understand how DEEP the roots and connection of the color purple go. If you have never been black and poor and from the US south there are hardly the words to express that experience in the 30s/40s. It's almost like trying to explain a descent in madness. And Whoopi captured that perfectly with her acting.
RE-QUOTE: Two books recommended by Alice Walker to read: 'The Half Has Never Been Told' by Edward E. Baptist and 'The Slave Ship' by Marcus Rediker. If you have an earnest desire to have an authentic understanding of American history and the events that shaped it these two books are keystones.
Thanks Fantasia for giving Ceily her flowers because people always called me her in a negative way and I as a teenager found the beauty, strength and richness in her.
Whoopi let them give you your flowers. You AND Oprah were cheated out of your awards(the entire cast really) for the 1985 portrayal. Its been 20 years since I first watched this movie as a kid and it still holds dear to me.
Sarah is culturally intelligent! The ethnicity of whoever she's interviewing doesn't matter because she always ssys the right thing! Sarah literally made Tyler Perry cry last month
As people watch it all over the world, Whoopie will be in the mind through each scene played by Fantasia. This 2nd time around will be a win for her too!
The original Color Purple is so meaningful. I first saw it as a little girl and didn't understand everything but I cried a lot. And as I got older I kept learning and learning just about life from this movie! 🌟
Yes I am so so happy to see this adaptation will be in the movie theater, because it will make more affordable for people who cannot pay Broadway ticket prices
Having been in a stage production of this show I can 100% testify to how spiritual and sacred this text/show/art is. It is exacting of you. And it is so worth it. Kudos to the cast and crew!
Oprah has been promoting this brand for the past 20 years since it first hit Broadway. It's so refreshing to see another adaptation cast be with Whoopi Goldberg who played the protagonist. I followed the press tour for this particular interview 💜
I can't imagine anyone else playing Celie than Whoopi. I had read "The Color Purple" before seeing the original movie, and was amazed at how perfectly Whoopi portrayed the character I had had in my mind while reading the book. Whoopi *was* Celie!
I'm crying. The book and original film mean so much to me, as well as these four ladies. I've been waiting on this Broadway rendition to come to film❤.
The original Color Purple to this day is among my top three movies ever! I can’t wait to see. The remake! I hope it does justice to the original! I adore the cast!
Just say the words The Color Purple and I start crying; cried through the whole segment!!!! It's one of my favorite movies of all time!!!!!! Love it - and Whoopi - so much!!!! I'm glad they keep recreating it for generations to come. ❤
Dang Fantasia & Taraji said no back then ? I love that they said yes now they are great, beautiful, strong women who deserve this time to shine ! They are winning
I watched the original movie The Color Purple just last night..and I'm telling you..I just love it so much!...Whoopi, Oprah, and Danny Glover are amazingly brilliant.. and yes Margaret Avery, as Shug and let's not forget Akosua Busia as Nettie, they were dynamite. I'm planning on seeing the new version, but seeing the original unedited and uncut, just brings back so many memories!
It is sacred ground. Those are the words I was looking for. Thank you. Sacred ground. It is ineffable, and in every moment it holds you. There is a way through. It finds you.
Whoopi is a legend and I love so much that they gave her flowers 🌹 I wish she gets recognised more for her incredible acting in the Colour Purple and so much more!
What an honor, to be honored for being a leader on a path of greatness. I've seen a short clip of the movie and I'm already 😢, so I may as well pack my pocket w/tissues when I go to see it.💜💜💜
This was one of my favorite movies growing up the strength I saw was huge the love between the ladies was amazing Whoopi deserves all the flowers for her performance in the color purple
Whats understood doesn't have to be explained. I look forward to seeing this movie with my group of spectacular Black Women. Thank you Ms. Oprah Winfrey. 💜💜💜
Whoppi is freaking amazing. I've ALWAYS been a fan. Never left her fan base, not for a second through the years. Everything she said rings true to me. I love you Whoopi.
I was waiting For Fantasia to Look at Whoopi and say to Ms Whoopi that she had big shoes to fill.....WHOOPI & OPRAH PLAYED THOSE ROLES ....WITH EXCELLENCE!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 🌹 🌹
A friend of my older brother gave me a copy. I was 18 and just moved to Holland. It was my first book written by a Black author. I was hooked for life. A wonderful story. Looking forward to see this version.
