The Columbine II Arrives in Bridgewater 

The most beautiful airliner ever built in my opinion, and I am very relieved to see that a group has acquired this important piece of Americana, and will restore our nation's first Air Force One to her former glory, and house her properly for future generations to appreciate.

I'm 72 years old and I remember when these beautiful aircraft were the used by many airlines back in the 1950's. This video brings back so many wonderful memories!

We flew these in our squadron in the late 60’s. I was an electrician on them. Beautiful airplane.

I am grateful that they rescued this bird and are restoring it....

My Dad was the 3rd captain behind the yoke of the original 049 after it landed in DC in WWII from Burbank. I've got his original TWA pilot's manual from the International L-749 complete with his comments. If you'd like a copy write me.

Shortly after arrival I was at Dynamic. I walked thru it pet restoration. They had so much work to even get it to ferry condition. Dynamic has the the time to put it right

You can clearly see why they called it the best three-engine plane! :-)

The first Air Plane I ever flew in was the Lockheed Constellation on my way to Navy Boot Camp Lincoln NE to San Diego Feb. 25, 1963.

Number 2 engine is an oil burner.

The constellation airplanes need to be brought back and in flying shape too.This is a old but gorgeous looking airplane in her own right.

First plane I ever flew in from Idlewild Airport, now JFK, to Miami in 1959. Would love to see it again after it's refurbished. Let everyone know when it's scheduled to arrive in or near New Jersey. You'll have thousands of fans out here.

My cousin Billy Draper was Eisenhower's personal pilot. He convinced the authorities to designate the president's plane is air Force one.

And I had the pleasure of flying in it from Rome Italy to Maryland. Smoothest plane I have ever flown.

number 2 has some ring issues.

I saw these two in Mt. Pleasant, Tx and was invited to go aboard the Connie. I met President Eisenhower during a Civil Air Patrol exchange program at the white house during the '5os.

She is going to clean up real nice. Would love to see it make a US tour when it was done. I'd certainly be the first in line, for the opportunity to board and stand in an Air Force One. I'd be just as content to just be on the tarmac and walk around it for a week.

Looks like the ole girl dropped a cylinder on the # 2 engine. The most beautiful aircraft ever built.

Sorry to report that Karl Stoltzfus passed away last November from pancreatic cancer. He was amazing. His son, Mike, is carrying on with the project which is nearing completion. RIP Karl.

I remember seeing President Eisenhower arrive in that aircraft at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, where he maintained his summer White House while president in the 1950's.

Damn what a beautyful Aircraft. I flew from Seattle to Tachakowa AFB in Japan with a stop in Hawaii then to Wake island. That was in 1957. Military Air Transport.( MATS ). I flew the 150 spotter aircraft in the USAF in korea for one year. Got plenty of hours but then it did`nt count for civilian hours. Now it does. What fun. 😎🤠

Magnificent airplane! They really must have detuned those engines to get it to run on 100LL. Originally it used 115/145 which hasn't been made in many decades

#2 sounds like the pistons were swapping holes.

I flew on several of these when I was in the service in Korea, but never one with smoking engines.

Engine nr.2 seems to have a problem

There is one here in Australia called connie and she has the qantas logo's on her and she is air worthy and the hars meseum based in the south coast south of Sydney

I sooo want to fly in one that's on my bucket list !

It should be noted this runway is only 1/2 of a mile long...good brakes and reverse.

#2 engine seems to have some problems.

I flew in one of these "Connies" waaaay back on TWA from N.C. to San Diego. .......I however do not remember as I was only 7wks old. My pops was being transferred from Camp Lejeune to Camp Pendleton and so away the family went~~~~~~~~~~or so I'm told
